@Monica: it is made ineligible for review at that point, removing it from the queue. — Shog9 yesterday
@Jon, that ^^^ was in response to my asking what happens if a mod dismisses the flag.

@MonicaCellio Hi
@MonicaCellio Do you know by chance what was upsetting Kazark about the recent meta discussions?
I saw that he has "also gone quiet"

@Jas3.1 I didn't have any recent interactions with him (and his name change came as a surprise). I know he was feeling weary of meta starting in the spring; I think he talked about that here in the Library. There's also this:
Sorry to see you go, Monica. I appreciated your contributions. I myself have contributed much less to the site of late, partly because of life busyness and partly because the level of meta-fighting was hard on my morale. Thanks for your good contributions. — Kazark Oct 1 at 0:41
I haven't had any private conversations with him. It's possible that Jack has.

OK thanks
Hopefully he'll be back
Sometimes I think one of the reasons we have so much conflict and tension on this site is due to the kinds of personalities that are generally attracted to text criticism... lol

Dunno. Maybe, especially if y'all get the Christian site that most people seem to want to build.
(That was a reply to your comments about Kazark.)

@MonicaCellio FWIW I'm glad you're here. I think you contribute a lot, and wish there were more like you. (I just also wish it were more clear what framework people are working from, but I might be alone in that)
@MonicaCellio What are you studying these days?

@Jas3.1 you're not alone; 6 people (including me) upvoted your "specify your framework" meta post. Unfortunately, 5 others downvoted it.

8:32 PM
@MonicaCellio I suppose that's not surprising... why upvote that answer if you don't actually have a framework... lol

So that meta post is still unresolved, and the site has other problems, so I'm not really still here so much. I'm cleaning up, and if the site doesn't show a better direction by the time I'm done, I'll just leave. I feel like I'm wasting my time and that there are, maybe, three or four people who care about the things I care about.
@Jas3.1 true. One of our big problems is people spouting their own opinions as answers -- no framework, no support, no nothing. They think this is an opinion forum or a pulpit. And while people repeat the mantra of "downvote into oblivion", it doesn't happen -- people say that but they don't cast those votes. Dan and I and occasional others do, but that's not enough.

@MonicaCellio As a point of encouragement, despite the disagreements and issues with the site, it's always cool to see how many views some of our answers get from folks out there doing Google searches and what not. When I get depressed about my question or answer only having one vote, it helps me to glance over at the "views"
@MonicaCellio Yeah. Being a down-voter comes at a price... lots of folks "don't appreciate the feedback" (lol)
(be back later)

@Jas3.1 true, that can be encouraging. For me, though, if Stack Exchange would let me just delete my content and leave quietly, I'd do that. But since I can't do that, my words are out there and I have a custodial duty to them, if you know what I mean. The last thing I would ever do is disassociate, as then I'd never know if people are editing my contributions in inappropriate ways (e.g. Christianizing them).
@Jas3.1 yeah, that too. I rarely leave comments about it any more, especially on people who won't listen (like Mike Bull).
@Jas3.1 ttyl
So just to complete the thought... I have better places to both learn and teach torah, where I don't have to constantly encounter offensive content and rude users who are sure that they (and only they) are right and I'm horribly misguided, where Christianity isn't an axiom of the discussion, and where analysis, scholarship, and rigor are valued over doctrine. So why on earth should I continue to participate here, if those aren't the kinds of things this community values?
People here mostly want an assumed-Chrisitan site, and if that's what people want, what can I do about that? I just wish they'd be explicit about it so nobody else gets misled by the disconnect between what we say and what we do.

You'll note that I've been pretty restrained in stating opinions about the Christian texts and how they got written, and about Christian doctrine. I wish I felt that I'd received the same courtesy I've given. I could go on at some length about why Christianity is wrong, but it would be rude to do so here.

@MonicaCellio Fair enough
@MonicaCellio On a related note, I need to go now because I have exegesis homework to do :p

@Jas3.1 :-) (I thought you were already gone, and I was leaving you notes for later.) Go do your homework; it's important. :-)

Was eating lunch
Have a good day

You too!
