@Soldarnal yeah, I voted on that earlier today, but you need five people with the priv to actually run through the queue. And relatedly, we have two identical answers to the same question from the same user, and it doesn't even answer the question, but the only way to fix that is to get a mod to handle the flag or get three delete voters, so it hasn't happened yet.
@Soldarnal yeah, I just noticed that was you (with Dan and me). Thanks. I think it would have eventually faded away (close + DV + no UV answers), but it would have taken a while. I was surprised to see it gone now, then looked more closely.
Stray +1s -- the canaries in the deletion queue. :-)
@Soldarnal it's a fishing expedition (doesn't start form the text) for something that invites doctrine ("grace" being a key concept in Christianity) and after being closed for nearly six months nobody's fixed it. I don't want that standing as an example of what we want, giving the impression that if only he threw in a quote it'd be ok or something.
@Soldarnal yeah, it could go either way and it may have caught me at the wrong moment. In this case people will search on grace and bible and land here; even though the question is closed, that may invite bad questions from newcomers who don't understand closure. We've gotten several fishing expeditions in the last few months as I recall, so in this case I voted for fending that off here.
@Soldarnal I'm open to the request. I don't remember which it was either, only that it sat there gathering crickets and wasn't a stellar answer anyway.
(I tend to figure that if even the asker of the question doesn't think it merits an up-vote, that's an indicator...)
Oh hey, thanks for accepting that Job answer. I've been seeing a lot of questions (including ones I've answered :-) ) with apparently-decent answers and no acceptances, so it's always a pleasant surprise when somebody checks that button for me.
@Soldarnal if you do you might want to mention it in the question; nothing wrong with explaining what prompts a question, after all.
@MonicaCellio Yeah, and I'm already the lone upvote on your answer. There was a period in the summer where a lot of my questions seemed to just tumble in the wind.
@Soldarnal and once they're off the front page they continue to tumble, yeah. :-( I've been wondering if we should start calling out undervalued posts here in chat or what; feels self-serving, but maybe. (I brought up a few in a conversation with Jack yesterday.)
@JonEricson, @JackDouglas If my account is deleted and what I contributed then becomes anonymous, that means there is no way to trace my work to me; is that correct? Thus, if I ever use anything I have contributed here, say in an academic setting, it would appear as though I plagerized, even though it is my own work?
@user2027 That is, I believe, correct. If you retain your account (and simply don't use it anymore) it's easy to prove you wrote the content associated with it.
@user2027 The system does keep a record of certain things, I assume forever, but I'm not certain of that. So a moderator can check the history and see any previous names and email addresses associated with the account
I think this would probably be lost if the account was properly deleted
But in the case where you forget the login details after years have passed, the link would still be there if the account was not deleted (even if you couldn't actually log in any more)
I hope any of that made sense, it's been a long day+weekend!
@JonEricson, @JackDouglas, thank you both. I think I will do that. I do not mind having access to the forum or even using it on occasion. I would like also to still be able to clean things up, as things arise concerning my posts. I just don't want to be pulled into an e-world. My goal is not to make the internet a better place; but to make the world a better place and I do that better when I spend less time on-line.
@JonEricson, could you move this question to Christianity SE? I see it is off topic for this forum. I can rework it for there as well as it is a bit ambiguous as it stands.
@JonEricson, could you please move this question to Christianity SE?
never mind, I see it has been deleted, not just closed. Thanks.
