Q: When did Jesus change his view on preaching to Gentiles?

Muke TeverIn John 10:16 Jesus says (ESV quoted): And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. The common belief, as I understand it, is that this refers to the division between Jews and Gentiles. ...

@JonEricson have you locked this to reduce the workload for us mods? :p

[grammar] ... can someone help me understand what is meant by the definition of this tag?
ok ... can someone help me figure out how to markdown tags in chat? :)

@JackDouglas I'm watching Christianity and thinking thinking about what it would be like if we started getting spill over. ;-)
@swasheck [tag:grammar] =>

@JonEricson I'm thinking it may be better to cross that bridge when we get to it?

@JonEricson thanks ...
Grammatical issues in the source texts; this tag should be accompanied by the appropriate language tag.
what do we mean by "issues"

@JackDouglas That's fine by me. I'll hold off on protecting stuff.
@swasheck Good question.

because "grammar" is not limited to the domain of "problem solving"

6:47 PM
@swasheck I think the way I read it is, "I understand these words, but I don't know what they mean when you put them together."

@JonEricson that's a fair estimation of grammar studies, then :)

@swasheck Do you think the tag makes sense as a tag?

given that definition
er ...
yes, given your understanding of that definition

@swasheck Ok. Let's see if we can rewrite the wiki.
> Understanding the grammar of the source texts; this tag should be accompanied by the appropriate language tag.
?

sounds good to me

7:04 PM
@swasheck Ok. I punched up the tag wiki a bit. Feel free to edit if I messed anything up. ;-)

@JonEricson You should be very careful to get your grammer perfect in that wiki :-)

@JackDouglas And speling not mess. ;)

one of my particular weaknesses :-)
lets have a tag as well

@JackDouglas that would be difficult. i've been reading about the history of Koine Greek
it's insane ... different spellings and such
:)
and dont get me started on colo[u]r

@swasheck Thank you [curse you] Daniel Webster!

7:12 PM
@swasheck sounds interesting :-)

it's actually crazy interesting
my wife ... she chortles every time i pick up the book
we have it on loan from another library
i'd like to buy it but it's ~$200
she said, "you have a birthday coming up."
and that's nearly the entire budget of all family members spending on me
so i decided i'd be good with library loans

How do you ever have time to read is what I want to know!

@swasheck Libraries are awesome. I'm happy to pay my fines there.

me too
@JackDouglas "personal time" ... i'm a crazy introvert so we've learned that i need a measure of time to myself

wouldn't have guessed

7:27 PM
hah. wait. was that sarcastic?

no–you seem very sociable online
I actually try not to be sarcastic online–it so often gets misunderstood :-)

oh - i'm sociable. but socialization is exhausting for me

ah–yes I know what you mean. We have friends who recharge their batteries by socializing
weird how different people are

@JackDouglas i married one of those.

@swasheck ha ha, my wife and I are both on your side of the fence which makes our social life easier to manage

7:39 PM
in ways i think that's a blessing - but my wife's definitely pushed me in ways i didnt think possible :)
