@Asmyldof Ultrasound distance sensor without a microcontroller... ASDIC comes to mind.

@NickAlexeev :-D

@Asmyldof he clearly has another problem and thinks he can solve it by discharging his batteries.

8:29 AM
hi

@PlasmaHH And I like cookies. I feel we have outgrown both topics for the week. :-P
hello

btw. its fun to listen to clueless people on an argument whether IQ data is just a mathematical trick or exists for real

8:57 AM
What!?

you know when receiving rf stuff and doing e.g. qam demodulation you use iq data... and there were those guys talking about if that data exists for real or is just a mathematical trick when transforming the data the adc reads ni

Again: What!?

5 hours later…

snort Colleague opens his drawer looking for a ruler, finds the 4 candy bars he put in there on Monday: "Ah! Hey! Candy! Profit!"

candy bars dont survive so long around here

2:57 PM
Here either... he ate 3 in one go...

6 hours later…
9:20 PM
hm, that desoldering gun is nice, but the fan for the smps is annoyingly loud... and the base station is much bigger than it looked on the images... I wonder where I should put it

@PlasmaHH Next to you

in my bed? ^^

9:44 PM
yes!

@PlasmaHH If having a desodering gun in your bed makes you feel safe at night... then why not.

if I could have back my five seven gun then that would be safe at night, but meh

Free industry rags... Sigh.
The first paragraph in an article (especially if it's about software or embedded) is so sweet, single sided, full of project manager speak that its mind-numbing.
I start reading at the second parapgraph.

Heyyyooo, is this chat active?
Basically I'm wondering, if taking a 120VAC source and run it to a transformer with a primary voltage rating of 115VAC, is bad? I would assume so, but this instructable I'm reading the guy says he's running his 120V to mouser.com/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity-PB/4900-8028RD63/… ... that doesn't seem right

@NETscape that's fine. It's always good to double check with Instructables, but 120VAC is within the tolerance of a 115VAC rated transformer

11:01 PM
Thanks @Asmyldof. how can i find the acceptable tolerance? or is it just a general rule?

Usually I'd say the line should stay within 10% of the rated voltage, so with 120VAC there's a little wiggle room for higher line voltages from time to time
Constantly at 10% over may increase the heat in the core though
Even if the power drained is the same

okay. would it be a good idea just to buy a 120VAC rated xfmr?
