Yes! And I now have a full stack trace, so I might be able to finally fix this!
Thank you M$ Microsoft. VSC is the best thing ever.

awesome!

        foreach (VBComponent component in this.vbe.ActiveVBProject.VBComponents)
That doesn't work if the IDE isn't open yet ^^

correct, the addin isn't loaded until the IDE loads it :)
@RubberDuck wait till you try ReSharper!

It worked when I built it because I was loading and unloading the add-in from the IDE.
Okay @ducky.. now how do we fix it?
Check to see if the add in is loaded... extract the create logic into a method and call it on the button click instead. If it doesn't already exist.
Okay @ducky. That should work.

1:14 AM
does it?

Yes. It works. Pull request will be incoming soon.

at last!
:)
what was it?

1:42 AM
It was this @Mat'sMug.
1 hour ago, by RubberDuck
        foreach (VBComponent component in this.vbe.ActiveVBProject.VBComponents)

oh

I had to change it so it initializes the task list after the IDE is fully loaded.
Just submitted the pull request. Fast forward merge. =)
Test Explorer is dockable, but I'm going to add an issue about decoupling the test engine from the menu.

good idea
merged. now resolving local conflicts :)

    public TestMenu(VBE vbe, AddIn addInInstance):base(vbe, addInInstance)
    {
        TestExplorerWindow testExplorer = new TestExplorerWindow();
        toolWindow = CreateToolWindow("Test Explorer", testExplorer);
        _engine = new TestEngine(vbe, testExplorer, toolWindow);
    }
I don't like that. Not sure how to fix it yet.

2:05 AM
oh, [&Test] menu is back on its own

On purpose, or by accident?

I must have went a bit too fast with conflict resolution
took remote copy
didn't want too much trouble
;)

I missed something in the merge anyway. I'll take it.

so.. I think every custom menu item should go under the "Rubberduck" menu
and.. hold on, I'll put a comment on your issue there

Yeah. Probably. I think there's a case to add the ToDo list under view in addition to Rubberduck though.

2:09 AM
or perhaps we should have a [Windows] menu under [Rubberduck]?

Look under view now
but yeah, maybe

lol
I didn't even know it was there

hmmmmmm why is VS ignoring my .gitignore?

task list has nothing in it :) nevermind, you have to select Comments

Ohhhhh that's a good point.

2:15 AM
R# is picking up 8 todo's, VS task list only 7
+bug comment

I don't get it. *.user is clearly excluded, but VS wants to add it......

could it be me that keeps putting it back in?
nope

I don't think so. It has a path to Excel 12. That's me.

> Since all custom menu commands would be under the "Rubberduck" menu, I think we should derive them from some CommandBase class. Ideally generic/abstract enough to work just as well for a menu or a toolbar - like, let's define the commands, and let the App determine where to put them (in the RubberduckMenu, and/or an eventual RubberduckToolbar).
I've extracted RubberduckMenu into its own file, pushing now
done, you should be able to sync without issues
back to my parser issues

2:51 AM
I <3 R#
@RubberDuck I created+assigned an issue and linked to #38; for now I'm only changing enough to build - I don't want to touch the menus and resolve conflicts later ;)
R# is a freakin' mindreader!

3:25 AM
I'm out Mug. Cya later.

Later!

Amen @enderland.

lol. thanks :)
It was a bit of frustration with playing janitor. :\

That's why I'm a big fan of CR. We don't get the sheer volume of crap.
I think it helps that we work with working code.
I might be posting on SO later though. I think I'm misunderstanding the this keyword in C#

2:25 PM
this refers to the current instance, like Me in VB

I'm not in front of the code right now, but I'm having trouble understanding how
_vbe == null
but this._vbe == an object
in the base class...
I'll figure it out.
Dude. Stop. Anytime you start numbering your variables you should be thinking loop. I'm asumming you come from a Functional background. Unfortunately, VBA is a Procedural language, not a Functional one. You can't do what you want to do, but there are other options. A select case and/or a loop are likely what you need, but there's not enough context here to help. — RubberDuck 2 mins ago

@RubberDuck I think ignorance or "this works before so we're going to do this" is the answer - not a FP background

@RubberDuck any object can be null ;)
Both should be referring to the same reference...

Yeah, but they should both be pointing to the same variable.... they're not.

wth

2:29 PM
I think it's an inheritance thing that I'm not doing right.
Will post a screenshot at lunchtime.
Does your existing code work?? — RubberDuck 2 mins ago

Ok

I want to help that poor soul, but I need full working code to do it....

Well I could go in and suggest a Delegate class to do it ;)
Please, don't use Call - just call the procedure. Call is but a relic from an ancient version of VB. — retailcoder 17 secs ago

My code works. It just is very long and I am trying to clean it up, but it does what I want it to do. Its close to 100 pages when in microsoft word but only takes a min to run. — Sandra 4 mins ago
Okay, there's a site dedicated just to that, but we'll need your full, compilable, working code or it won't be on topic. Please post your code for review on Code Review and I will help you clean it up. Please note that if it's broken, it will be closed. — RubberDuck 42 secs ago

^^ bingo
lol
Suppose we have no clue what you want to do, how would you phrase your question? — das_weezul Apr 12 '11 at 13:04

You're boring me today @ticker.

5:49 PM
lunch screenshot time?

I opted for a shower instead. Things are hectic with work and the busted up wife.
Really bad XY question.

Q: Can we use .NET System.Windows.Forms.Timer to replace Excel VBA Application.onTime?

kissinger chenWe are asked not to use Application.OnTime again by our client. That's our pre-condition, sorry it is out of our control. But since we need run some tasks periodically, we need to find an alternative timer. We already try System.Timers.Timer but it has some problems for Microsoft Excel. The reas...

Actually there is a bug in Application.Ontimer. When user add some names and tables to excel, the name list in the formula bar can be long. So user many need some time to choose one name. If applicatoin.ontime is triggered when user is selecting, the name list will disappear so use have to choose it again. That's the reason we get the demand — kissinger chen 4 mins ago

meh, VTC'd

Thanks so much. We already try this way. And now our team are discussing about the system.windows.forms.time. we want to know it is possible to replace application.ontime — kissinger chen 2 hours ago
SMH...... You've got a whole team of lazy people eh?
@ticker, no JAVAScript....
