@wizzwizz4, I wasn't able to view that page, but do you think it's consistent with your moderator status to keep participating in this conversation, but then use your privileges to simply remove everything I actually say because you find some author somewhere who happens to say different? It's surely not your responsibility to be a political censor.
What I did find about that book is that its claims are said to be highly controversial.

Some of the speculation about people's motives has its critics. (I wouldn't say it's "controversial" – more, there are multiple schools of thought on a few matters, and this book is from one of them.) You're welcome to pick another history book if you would prefer: you've got a lot to choose from.
If you can't access the Open Library, for whatever reason, you can try your local library. Most libraries have an interlibrary loan program, which should allow you to acquire a reasonably comprehensive history of the Holocaust.
Oh! To patronise the Open LIbrary, you need to register an account. That's the case with most libraries (though the reason is slightly different with a digital library, compared to a physical "you borrow pieces of processed wood with ink on them" library).

@wizzwizz4, so if you accept there are "multiple schools of thought" - and what I've previously said (that the gas chambers were not a publicly advertised policy of the Nazis) is consistent with an ordinary historical view and with plenty of books on the matter - then on what grounds are you using your moderator privileges to censor my remarks?

@Steve I'm not sure what you mean by "public advertisement" in this message, but Hitler very clearly and publicly (and proudly) advertised his intent, years in advance, to commit genocide. I've deleted (some of) your messages that claim otherwise.

@wizzwizz4, I got from "multiple schools of thought" to "the things I'm saying are among them" by pointing out that the reference you gave is merely from a controversial author. Even the Allies only learned of the death camps from actual escapees during the war - I'm not sure why you think it's plausible to think it was common knowledge amongst the German public in the early 30s.
My understanding of the history is that the death camp policy was not even formulated until the late 30s, and it was a secret policy, not something broadcast to the public.
This is besides the point now anyway. The question is what basis you have for saying this is "unsubstantiated" worthy of censorship from a site for political topics on stack exchange. Is it simply that you disagree with the claims, or that you've read something somewhere that contradicts them?
My main substantiation for the claim that the public could not have known for sure that death camps were operating, is that people continued to get on trains taking them there. The Nazis frequently used the technique of offering safe passage out of the country, to get Jews in a locality to reveal themselves and submit to transport. They victims would not likely have done that
- with their families and children - if they knew they would be killed.
Their behaviour - known facts - is inconsistent with your claim that everybody knew.
It seems to me your role in a moderation capacity is not to form a view about contentious political topics and then remove anything you happen not to like.

@Steve Seriously dude that's not even funny get a fucking history book. Like Hitler wrote down his bullshit in Mein Kampf long before being in power and he wasn't actually subtle about it in most cases. There's plenty of discrimination and deportation and Jewish emigrants who told the stories. That there was no stronger backlash to begin with doesn't mean that nobody knew what the Nazis were doing.
