Hi, sorry to disturb

No problem :)

I noticed that your question got closed :(

It got closed months away :)

...and deleted
Given though that you've gone the extra mile and actually provided an answer to it

Ah, at least the website is clean now.

2:43 PM
and I don't... think that this answer is on any other place on the internet
would you consider reposting it on the Arqade blog so that not all is for naught?

It is. On two other places actually, but in French.

I was considering just posting it myself, but I thought I'd get in touch with you first.
(I wouldn't be able to do much more than just copy and paste)

I don't mind reposting it, but since the question was closed and deleted, I bet it does not belong to Arqade :/
I don't know how the blog works though.

It doesn't belong on Arqade the Q&A site, but I think that taking some gems that don't really fit on the site and putting them on the blog instead is a good use of it
especially since it's been nearly a year since we last used the blog <_<
@Morwenn I'm not certain myself! Let's go on an adventure. :P
I believe blogoverflow.com/wp-signup.php is where you'd start.

Haha, why not :D
I will have to provide something more consistent then. I have other links and photos to document all of that :)

2:47 PM
Does the signup form work for you?
I get an error message.
(I already have an account but I wanted to follow through)

"For security reasons, you must pass the remote ip to reCAPTCHA"

Alright, no big deal, I'll create the account for you
Can I use the email on your Arqade profile for this?
Would you rather have something else?

That email is fine :)

oh goodness
D:

Aw, bad luck ><

2:51 PM
I'll need an adult. @timstone I summon thee.

Also, if you managed to get it to work, can my username be capitalized? :D

@Morwenn "Only lowercase and numbers allowed" :(

Oh, ok.

@badp Hmm?

@TimStone I'm trying to sign up @Morwenn to write on the Arqade blog
but he can't sign up directly ("For security reasons, you must pass the remote ip to reCAPTCHA") and I can't create an account for him ("Please fill in the reCAPTCHA form" but there's none on the relevant page)
what do?
I can repro the sign up form problem
Maybe there's another way through you're aware of?

2:54 PM
mmm, we may need @gracenote for this one, my blog process rememberings are a bit fuzzy.

Anyway, I will have to leave soon.

There's no rush :)

It will take me some time to gather all I need for a detailed article anyway, so you have time too :p

I finally got logged in, and I already had an account. That was an ordeal.

3:17 PM
After some further thought it seems like maybe the blog authentication isn't functioning as it was last reported to have.

Arqade is a weird bucket. We had some kind of fixins intended but it hasn't quite been a priority.
I can get that higher to speed, though, but let's focus on getting our friend here an account.

@TimStone Luckily my credentials were saved by the password manager
@GraceNote Given that it's been almost a year since our last blog post, it probably doesn't deserve priority

The process is contrived but executionally simple. Morwenn needs to create an account by the "normal" process on one of the other sites. I recommend doing Programmers. This is very easy, all Morwenn have to do is head to this page and supply the same OpenID as used for the network.
When that's done, I can then copy that account over to Arqade.

Ah, okay, so the OAuth process works in other places.
That's why I was confused.

@GraceNote That's the add account from email part of the dashboard yes?

3:23 PM
@badp No

Okay

It's the "I go to the main Blogoverflow site, and choose to edit the Arqade blog and force into existence this account" part of the dashboard.
What you, as the Arqade mod, have to do, is assign permissions after I've created the account.
And then when that's all done, Morwenn will need to go and set a password (but as long as Morwenn is logged in at Programmers, the login will transfer without needing to set a dummy password first).
This is specific to Arqade and Super User for blogs.
The authentication uses our API, and the registration is on a per-domain basis. Arqade and Super User are registered on a different domain than the rest of blogoverflow.

fun
btw when is SO getting its own book question dump blog?

I hear the collective Tims know WordPress, they should totally combine to fix that in record time. ...Actually I already mentioned that it's never safe to admit that, uhh...
