@Matthew I could certainly not support Christianity if it proselytized like Islam... I don't claim to have an answer here, just that my impression is people leaving the church in droves over relevancy issues. And I mean that pragmatically. "What good is the church doing anyway, for me, my family, and society, compared to what they demand in return?" The comparison is harder and harder to justify.
@Matthew Me, I'd hope the unity in Christ outweighed a strict YEC viewpoint. Why Christianity is waning, I really doubt intellectualism is the reason. People aren't reasoned out of faith. They're either browbeaten and demoralized into avoiding it, or have an emotional epiphany that they simply don't believe.
Believe in God, that is.

@fredsbend Well, Materialists are certainly good at that. If you read any Humanist materials, they are explicitly devoted to destroying Christianity. The extent to which they target all (other) organized religions is less clear, but they very certainly have it out for Christians, and YECs in particular. Just that fact alone is worthy of giving one pause.
