@Ryan @JohnB @Vincent @Darth_Vader Any recommendations on books about logo design, I have to do one, and it is giving me alot of trouble. :D thanks

1:16 AM
@GiantCowFilms nope sorry

I never really get into logo design, not an illustrator at all

Ah yah... I'm a DIY designer, so I have to be good at not suck at everything

@GiantCowFilms hah I know that feeling but never bought any books on Logo design and have only had to do maybe three so far in my career. One of which was just a .gif they needed turned into an eps
Tracing I can do well!

@Ryan If only it were that easy
to make a timeless design
That perfectly captures the brand...
sigh

1:30 AM
@GiantCowFilms sorry :\ if you want suggestions I can do that, and I know a good book on lettering, but nothing on logos

1:55 AM
@GiantCowFilms I'm in the same boat as Ryan but @Scott or @DA. might be the right guy to ping about that

:D
There is hope!

@JohnB evening. Everyone's on late huh. You working on something too?

2:33 AM
nah I was closing tabs and saw the ping haha
was playing Terraria

never heard of it

they just released a patch with a massive amount of new content, pretty awesome considering you don't have to pay extra for the new stuff
what are you working on?

Drinking a beer and redoing the veins of my digital painting of flower
think they're coming out a bit better this time

2:56 AM
ah nice!

@JohnB thanks, im off now though. enjoy your weekend

3:22 AM
@Ryan Looking nice

@GiantCowFilms I'd start by reading anything by Paul Rand and Saul Bass. They are the godfathers of modern logo design, IMHO.
Beyond that, any of the logo design annuals are a great resource for getting a 'feel' for what works today. You'll find a dozen or so at any Barnes and Nobles.
Personally, Logos are the one thing I still really enjoy the most--even though my day job has taken me away from that. I still try and do them whenever the freelance opportunity comes up. I consider it the perfect distillation of graphic design (concept and craft).
(In fact, the reason I'm online at midnight on a Friday is I'm trying to finish up some logo comps for a client tomorrow...)

@ryan

He's probably asleep

hello

o/ I'm going to sleep soon :P

I came late to this room haha

6:08 AM
It's 2:08am our time :P

O yea
Can I ask you a question since you have knowledge for web?

Sure

I have a site in wordpress that has a bunch of iframes in it. Is this the right question for me to follow?

Q: Delay load of iframe?

SeanI know there are some tools and techniques for delaying the load of javascript, but I have an iframe that I would like to delay loading until after the rest of the page has finished downloading and rendering (the iframe is in a hidden that will not be revealed until someone clicks on a particula...

I need to make all of the iframes load after the dom

essentially, yes
you can either do it like they do it there (select each iframe and add the src for each from an array) or you can just create and add all the iframes in the JS

Do I just change $ with JQUERY?

6:16 AM
but iframes are bad, avoid them

I have to use them

$ is short for jQuery

for a client

Any other questions? Else I'm going to sleep

Na man, have a good one!

6:19 AM
Goodbye :)

night
thanks

@AndrewH Hi

@DA. Good advice... Wasn't Saul Bass also famous for movie credits, esp. one for a Hitchcock film?
