> Looking through the bug comments and commit log, it seems that the person who checked in the two PDF files did so, not to see what happens in SVN, but because he was creating a testcase for Webkit itself to check whether the SHA1 collision issue couldn't be used for cache poisoning. The test presumably used the two PDF files to generate the behavior needed in the test. It seems he just was a bit careless, not realizing that SVN was also susceptible.
oops
@Burgi and I'm not :p

@JourneymanGeek DONID

N for non or near?

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Non.
Or DOD if you prefer :P
It appears to have dropped off my drive list, and killed the virtual disk service.
> Unknown model
Yea. It's dead.
@JourneymanGeek ^

Ah, its a DD then
DOID has recovered from that
...
twice

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Well. It still might :P
@JourneymanGeek Was it just random recovery, or did you do something?

2:35 AM
@Bob one day I pulled it out of the pile, and it worked.
then it stopped working
and did the same thing again
and I have it in the brix now, cause some day I might feel like living completely dangerously

Bob
shit. I just accidentally unplugged its brother. and heard not-good noises from it
So. Uh. I may or may not have just lost another drive.

Q: What is the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and how can I remove it?

HashimIn the early hours of February 24th GMT, Windows' automatic updates installed an update on my Windows 7 machine that included a definition update to the Malicious Software Removal Tool. The Malicious Software Removal Tool (or KB890830) is a Windows malware-protection offering that updates and r...

Bob
@JourneymanGeek So. Yea. This other drive ... may or may not be my primary backup drive.
whoops
hm
I managed to get unknown model back out of DOID #2

2:39 AM
> As it happens, the February update to MSRT's definitions list flagged tools that I had run for years with no problems - namely, the KMSPico activator for Microsoft Office - as being malicious, and removed them from my system without confirmation. I
There's your problem

Bob
DOID #3 is currently sitting off until I can deal with it :P

Don't you feel happy you just bought a shedload of storage? ;p

Bob
> time-tested, dedicated anti-malware and anti-virus offerings

what are these DOID's you talk of?

Bob
@JourneymanGeek I'd feel happier if these lasted long enough for me to migrate stuff :P
@JourneymanGeek has DOID #1

2:41 AM
funny thing here is

Bob
I recently acquired DOID #2 and maybe #3

I like half his answer.

@Bob lol I still don't know!

Bob

@djsmiley2k drive of impending doom

2:42 AM
ah
they don't last long enough around me to get a name xD

The requirements for the DOID club are 1. The drive must work. 2. It must have failed smart tests at least once.

HDD Rehab? XD

Bob
Oct 17 '13 at 15:02, by Journeyman Geek
(the one, now ironically, refered to as the drive of impending doom)

Optionally, it should pass smart tests after that, and/or die and come back to life more than once.

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Huh. Actually. Then my other drive would be DOID #2
It's the HGST drive sitting on a caution with a few reallocated sectors.
But the number isn't growing, sooo... I assume it's stable.
Eh. Drive is still spinning, but totally failing to return anything useful now.

2:48 AM
sooooooo
one of our clients isn't playing ball

This is why you should have dogs for clients.
2
@Bob drives will spin as long as there's power.
dogs will always play ball. Sometimes though. No give. Only Throw

@JourneymanGeek The only logical move, then, is throwing both dog and ball.

@JourneymanGeek I honestly once did the freezer trick on a completely dead hdd and recovered 80% of it

Ditto.
You know Carnaval has started when... ----^

3:05 AM
@ThatBrazilianGuy dear lord I couldn't deal with that.

To be entirely honest this is a random photo that claims to be from Carnaval, but I have myself (barely) survived thru a crowd of maybe half that size.

yeah that's fair enough
Will Smith from Tested.com when he was still part of the company just made me cringe
he'd say how he hates stuff, immediately does it
Just made me rage lols
The best stuff is watching how all the youtube channels adapt to try and keep making money
and 'explain' how they are improving their videos for users....
that's the one I just watched, is lul

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Kinda meh about him at the moment... don't particularly dislike him, but also don't like him enough to seek out the videos.
Though the way his videos are apparently taken as gospel annoys me a bit.

hmm
i'm always confused by stuff like that
who takes them as gospel?
I don't follow any social.... anything
It's like theguy i play cod withonline will go 'everyone is raging about this update, blah blah gun sucks'

@djsmiley2k dunno, I see a lot of "Linus said X, praisepraisepraise"
He's alright. But his fans...

where do you see it?
this is what I mean, I don't follow any forums and such, so I never see the fanboyism
:D
He's clearly not a perfectionist, doesn't think things through before hand, and doesn't plan very well.

Hi @PaulVargas

@JourneymanGeek :D
@JourneymanGeek By the way, just out of curiosity, what is your favorite operative system?

hmm
Depends on what I'm doing
Windows is tends to be what I'm using interactively these days
but I also run fedora KDE, ubuntu server...
(Don't tell @allquixotic - OS/2) ;p

Bob
@PaulVargas ...are you just gonna post that once a week?

9:12 AM
I've never gotten the courage to click on that ;p

Bob
9:22 AM
@JourneymanGeek Eh. Music video. Not even remotely dodgy, really. Though the thumbnail is a tad NSFW, yea.
Apart from the beach photos, it's really about as SFW as I've ever seen a music vid.

9:42 AM
@Bob if some day you get REALLY bored, and want something impossible to do.... superuser.com/questions/1178179/…

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Eh. He's asking about a generic MDI.

@Bob for arbitrary applications.

Bob
@JourneymanGeek But yea, that's not something I'm gonna do :P
Maybe AWM has it.

not having much luck googling it

Bob
@JourneymanGeek I wonder... virtual desktops?

9:52 AM
Heroes of Might & Magic IV or Secret Garden - Nocturne?
Which came first?
I thought I was listening to Heroes IV for a moment...
Great stuff.
Oh just learned this one had similarity with song in Shrek. I recall that part when princess sang while similar music to this one was playing.

@Bob I distinctly remember them being on the unofficial list of spammers ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek really? O_O
I know of them cause they're the only ones who block window deactivation on fullscreen alt+tab

ah
I might be wrong.

Bob
10:18 AM

So I've replaced my RAM without issues, but I've started my computer again, and my DRAM frequency seems to be fluctuating a bit between 1199.5 and 1200.3 Mhz. I assume this is normal?
ah, okay, I googled it and it's normal

@Bob that looks a LOT like the 3.5mm interconnects I swear by
err...
actually no

Bob
@JourneymanGeek I assume they aren't labelled "Micro USB Data Cable" though.

No
I suppose any cable is a micro USB Data Cable if you're brave enough....
I broke 100K ;p

@JourneymanGeek Downvote 10 crap answers and you will be exactly 100k :)
Congrats by the way ...

11:14 AM
thanks ;p

11:42 AM
@Bob yep, I needed 5 more matches so I could get the World of Warcraft mount
And fortunately, with some tomfoolery with sandboxes and second accounts, you can do those on your own

actually the last 300 or so...

@ThatBrazilianGuy you've included the "edit" link in the steam group message

ooh
swag box email ;)
(and as per (recent) tradition, I'll stick a photo of it once I get it on chat)
@Ramhound FWIW - if UAC is hiding at the back, skulking around like a puppy that did toilet on your floor... I'm more likely to say bugging than prompting ;p
Valid edit but ... ;p

3:01 PM
Bugging makes it sound like a bug :-$ and while I agree that the secure desktop should always display the prompt, normally I find a human error caused it to go silent :$

3:37 PM
I don't get what's up with the US. Donald Trump will revoke all these sensible laws and acts which help millions just because they were initiated by his predecessor, a democrat?
If there's nothing wrong with them, why dismantle them?

cause he thinks he can

Okay, WTF? How many damn times are we going to fight over this?

3:57 PM
@Rahul2001 You assume everyone agrees that those rules are sensible. At good percent of the population believe that the government has exceeded its authority in our business.
President Trump isn't forcing agencies to get rid of all people policies just the policies that they can live without. Did you know there are laws that exist that haven't been enforced for decades? Just saying....

@Ramhound Sure, there are some absurd laws, but stuff like the Affordable Care Act helps millions of people. Why revoke it when you can improve and build in it?

Many people thing a mandatory mandate to get health insurance exceeds the authority of the government, which is the only way, insurance companies can be forced to offer health insurance to everyone, but that mandate doesn't solve the real problems with health care and that's the cost. My insurance paid a doctor over $500 just for a yearly checkup once.

@Ramhound can live without... hundreds of thousands rely on Obama care for AIDS medication

If that medication was affordable without health insurance what would you say?

4:07 PM
You don't get car insurance and make the insurance company pay for an oil change. You don't get insurance for your house and have them pay for a new air conditioner. But we make health insurance companies pay for every minor health need this just visiting the doctors cost hundreds of dollars

hey guys the P word is banned

Its not 'banned'
It just gets people worked up and terrible things happen when people abuse flags

@Rahul2001 Just to be clear, I have a pre-existing condition that has cost my insurance company thousands of dollars so I perfectly understand the situation with insurance companies but I have also paid tens of thousands in top of what they paid.

!!flagged

4:11 PM
so I have more insight then you might think.

@Ramhound why is it that "just visiting the doctors" cost hundreds of dollars?

I don't know, and argue that pre-screening being expensive is the real problem

I think making healthcare affordable to those who can't is a good thing to do.

Idk, the healthcare system in the US seems unnecessarily complicated and messed up

@jokerdino I agree. And it also makes it a lot cheaper for the rest of us.
(more people paying)
Not sure how the US could do that though. Their spending on healthcare is huge, but they do not have 'more care' or better care. Just higher tariffs.
And expensive insuderance vs being sueds (on the doctors side)
So without improving the justical system people may simply have to die.

4:28 PM
Except in the last 8 years I have continuously paid more for the exact same care then the previous year minus the single year that was unique. So more people paying doesn't decrease the cost from my perspective.
these increases are on top of my monthly cost for the insurance itself

@Ramhound which is why I said don't dismantle it, improve it

I don't know the solution I don't have access to the kind of metrics to come up with one, but next time ask your doctor for the cash price, and i bet it's cheaper then what they charge the insurance company (despite the fact it's not suppose to be)
@Rahul2001 We don't know what will happen. Let's argue (as a people) when a bill is being voted on. Till then AHCA exists just like it did on Jan 19th

@Ramhound Eh, here in India, most healthcare is super cheap. And all families which have a a government worker (most) get majorly subsidised healthcare.

I think in most countries it is super cheap compared to the US.
Or rather, in the US it is extra expensive.
And trying to solve that is going top be hard.
Other than that, I can tell about the old dutch system:
Healthcare insurance was mandatory (noone in the US is going to like that part).
But you always could get a relative cheap insurance which covered all basic stuff.
The list of basic stuff was NOT determined by healthcare providers.
Which meant lots of people paying into the system. All the time, not just when sick or when having a good job.
At the same time more expensive priovate options were available. With shorter waiting lists, more things paid for etc.
They changed that a while ago though
Now the healthcare providers need to offer at least the basic insurance and a state determined price (previously that was done by a state insurance)
But health care is cheaper in NL than in US. So that influences things a lot

4:49 PM
NL also has 130 million less people :-$

@Hennes That's all double Dutch to Trump XD
@Ramhound we have almost a billion more

I think that having more people might make it easier.
Dealing with multiple states on the other hand probably more than compensates for that.

Oh perhaps I don't known the size of NL lol
I guess my point what works for NL might not work for us :-$

5:11 PM
Oh, agreed. There are too many differences to simply apply whatever worked for country A in country B

Normally economy of scale make things cheaper (per unit product) when larger numbers are involved. At the very least the cost of drugs should be much lower in the US than any EU country.

And regardless what Obama tried to do, (or its earlier similar plans by others which Bama partially copied), the US still has the big pricing difference.
Not sure about US vs EU. One of the few good things from the European Unoin is that many things scale as a whole.
E.g. drug testing for a market can now be done for the whole of the EU since the laws of the individual countries now have the same requirements.
Other than that: yes

Prescription (drug) costs are the biggest ongoing cost for many patients in the UK who have to take drugs for the rest of their life.
@Hennes Brexit :/

Aye. And thus the UK is less interesting for new drugs.
Which already has been pointed out by the UK doctors.
Basically: leave the EU if you want, but please keep all rules the same.
(first link I found)
As a note: I really do not like Brexit. I do not like the whole thing. Either stay or leave and implement a pre-agreed plan.
But leave and "we'll make something up... hopefully" is not a thing to do with a whole country

Yep. That is bad news indeed for a lot of people :/

5:19 PM
Also, my typing is down the drain today. Sorry abot all the typo fixes.

@Hennes Many of us agree with you ...

5:47 PM
One of the things I do believe should be done, if a drug is approved in the EU the approval process for it to be sold in the US should streamlined.
With regards to Brexit, I am sure everyone who voted on it would agree, tell that to the corruption within parliament, who are dragging their feet

@Ramhound I am tempted to flag that as offensive ...
8
Q: What was the point of the House of Lords debating Article 50?

AJFaradayThere was recently two days of debate in the House of Lords concerning the triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, stating the UK's intention to leave the European Union. The opening statements made it clear that the decision had already been made, that the Lords would not, under any circ...

How is that offensive?
You part of parliament?
I was agreeing with you?

@Ramhound It's as offensive as making jokes about US politicians
@Ramhound I voted to stay not leave.
I don't mind politicians "dragging their feet" if it produces a better result. Important things should not be hurried ... they should be properly debated before making decisions that have big consequences on the whole country if they get it wrong ...

I will be walking away from this conversation
When an argument is generated with somebody who agrees with you it's not a good conversation

<shrug>

6:06 PM
What I have heard is the current conversation isn't how should the exit be handled but do the people even have the authority to say the exit should happen. And perhaps my sources are not telling the accurate story, so that's the background, on my original comment :-$
Off to enjoy my weekend, cause, that won't happen here apparently

@Ramhound I'm not really upset but perhaps you should think about avoiding the word "corruption" next time. Enjoy your weekend.

Congrats @JourneymanGeek!

6:24 PM
brexit has ruined the country

@Burgi It's looking that way ...

my cousin voted to leave and i had a huge argument with her and discovered her decision to vote to leave was based on the lies from UKIP and bad information on facebook

Brexit ruined my plans.

she thought norway and switzerland were in the EU
i think my parents (my dad at least) are starting to regret voting to leave

@Burgi it was already ruined
think about it
BNP getting seats
Farage...
for many years NF
all this was going on far before Brexit was a twinkling in someones eye
It's time to make Britan great again

6:29 PM
i think we should sue farage for lying about the £350m/week thing

by ejecting the biggots into the sun.

he should personally make up the short fall

it'd be good but it won't happen
polticans, not lying?
yeah right

i'm not a fan but tony blair's speech the other day was pretty good
i just don't trust him or like him

@djsmiley2k politicians don't lie, they tell alternative truths :)

6:32 PM
Triggered.

But now at least, the internet won't forget this

my sister's husband works for the co-op bank and his job is now massively at risk due to brexit
1000s of jobs are going to move to paris and frankfurt
i think the debates we have had since the brexit announcement have been much more reasoned and have highlighted the huge issues with leaving
if we had had these debates and plans prior to the vote i reckon we would have ended up staying
i'm going to go drive my racing car for a bit
then go to the pub

zoom zoom

6:49 PM

If your not upset don't say your upset....

What are the other 3%?
Should be 100% if no issues are found.
I don't see any abnormal value, yet it reports health of 97%.

7:13 PM
@Boris_yo software arbitrarily gives weight to the data parameters it gets from the drive, it is already not always correct data or analisis, reading the raw data is more better. In this case the drive has some hours on it, so it isnt new. around 97% is a good guess.

7:46 PM
i hate it when you are happily leading a race when your nearest rival comes from nowhere and rams you off the track
usually on the last lap
1st -> 16th -> recovered to 9th
has TOWMN left for australia now or something?

8:04 PM
I don't like the mobile version of github.com
@Burgi Wait... You own a racing car? Or in a video game?
Ah, right

8:48 PM
yeah i expected to see him speedin around the streets on manc.

2 hours later…
10:52 PM
Last night, discussing youtubers
also funny is seeing how the shows all cover each others stuff, a few months down the line
the number of times I've seen a video about the 5 second rule, sigh
