@Psycogeek SSL 1.1 was just about never used. SSL 2.0 was considered insecure about two decades ago.

You want things newer than TLS 1

SSL 3.0 is definitely insecure now.

TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are supported out of necessity but not particularly great - many vulns that require workarounds.

And therin lies my problem, of course they were all insecure and malable , the day they came out with them. that is why they are called secure :-) But say none of them are set in the options to use, will everything still work?

@Bob Right, ICMP is completely unrelated to SSL; it's at an entirely different layer of networking

You could conceivably deliver SSL'd data in an ICMP packet, but I can't think of an actual use case for that

Ok thanks for that. It just went all off last night, and now i can be assured that doesnt change anything that matters. Even if most of anything I Do on the web doesnt require big security.

setting up this "new" computer, i spend rediculous hours adjusting all the options that not only do i have a poor understanding of, but going on the web for the information is Horrid :-)
Stupid Web pages in plenty that will say things like:

"Adaptive Inter-Frame Spacing" is an option that changes the Inter-Frame Spacing on packets that are sent , switching it to enabled, enables Adaptive Inter-Frame Spacing , switching it to disable . . .
Yea ok but WHEN should it be or not be?

Then you realise They just Dont Know
and instead say "Its time like this when you leave it on default"

Intel Networking Blog (YAY!) , has singular proper full explains, of One Item, in One blog each.

500,000 blogs out there, and just 1 with full explains of (just) the ethernet options, in one page , would be beutifull. but the computer generated Crap out there would reign over it still.

yea now thats much better

so much of this stuff they invented , jumbo packets (oooooh) but everything comes with it disabled. I just Happen to know they wont work well through my old crusty switch any better. But use scenarios are so helpfull.
Why did you make this . . . then turn it off :-)

in 2025 this will all be working as it should, then obsolete.

as usual i think these manufactures have no idea the layers of crap one can get on thier products . Generally speaking most light weight cleaning can be done with damp cloth and tiny ammounts of detergent. then insuring that no liquids move below the frames/bezels.

Microfiber cloths are recommended (by me too) because (good ones) dont drop lint, and have tiny upright fibers that get in places. But certian ones can be more abrasive. The microfiber rags designed for bathroom cleaning can be plastic harsh. the "polishing" microfiber is best, the fibers finest of all.

If you have snot and sneeze on things , "rehydrating" the proteins by having the liquid stay for some time , without it moving under the frames. Aka leaving the damp cloth on for a few minutes.

If it is road films , smoke, resins, kitchen greace, that is a whole world of different, and (here) requires measures that are beyond manufactures intentions.

Anything with a "coating" is impossible . oily coatings are used on some stuff, and the oleophobic coatings really should never have been used on some things, because they (so far) can be made completely permenent. those 2 are ruined by anything other than distilled water and light clothing. Just fresking impossible all the way around. One cannot "remove" oily fingerprints and oily crap without removing the properties that make these coatings special.

Distilled water can help big time for finishing anything, because of the lack of particulates in the water.
