I see no reason based on the information to assume that it would cause the key to repeat, only to trigger the event at the Key_dn instead of the key_up event.

Beyond that AHK is certannly not the answer to many questions, you can even see that in the lesser accepted answers , as in my own experience , the stuff doesnt work as planned. You gotta be a real dang expert at it , much like trying to code something the first time, stuff doesnt go as planned, or by the book.

I completly dropped that method for sound control myself , it was just one problem after another.

lol. I'd use macros and maybe nircmd there myself

especially since volume control is actually a standard key so... I'd just use macros for whatever keyboard or mouse I have... hmm

I do not doubt that the person knows what they are trying to accomplish for themselves, but for "most" people it would be simply insane to have the volume start changing everytime you pressed shift or ctrl.

Even for them, they will find it will backfire on them, and they would choose a different method anyway.

never had any problem with water pressure in this town, to high or to low. many of the faucets and showerheads have water saving restrictors on them, which i may adjust slightly :-) but only to get a balance between dripping and drowning.

Sure, your "end user" is gonna be perfectly happy tuning what might well be dozens or hundreds (or thousands) of parameters.

Including a profiling (+ auto-adjust) tool might help but you'd still need someone willing to invest the time into running through the whole thing over and over.

@Bob: What nvidia and (maybe AMD) do, and having something that sets sane settings for you is nice

@JourneymanGeek Eh, that's still based on preexisting profiles.

To automate what this guy is suggesting, you'd literally have to run the game many many times with slightly different settings.

The real performance boosts (without the heavy-handed sacrifice of visuals) are rather different.

Sometimes, they might even take a completely different codepath.

(Some paths might be optimised for more vertices, others for more edges, etc., to use a simple graph-theory example.)

Also a reason for graphics drivers containing hundreds of megabytes of code.

That's scary just thinking about it.
