Android 5.0 OTAs begin November 3

Just learned something new on accident - if you're browsing a folder in Windows Explorer, instead of using the up/down arrows to select a file you can actually type a name

so if there are two files filename1 and filename2, you can either type "file" and scroll down 1 to get to 2, or "filename2" will go to the second one

I can't even remember when I first discovered that... or how o.O

Some of these things really need a tutorial.

@Bob they dont care what you put the sim card into :-) as long as you activate it and pay. there is one thing, when using a "smart phone" of specific class, they want to force you into a data package, even if you refuse to use it. but i do not think that effects plopping a sim in on the side, as I have had smart phone sim in, under flip phone contract.

Lets say you give the client exclusive rights to use the logo you designed, but you as the designer keep the copyright. Then, if someone comes along and decides that they want to lift the logo and use it, what happens then? Does that become your legal problem and expense because you own the copyright?

I think is makes way more sense to sell the full copyright and ownership of the logo to the client, and they can deal with any issues that come up after that.

@Boris_yo I do not know, in all practicality the creator is the creator , all you have to do is prove that your the creator. in all legality you have to have 500 pages of paperwork witnesses and notarizaion, and to pay the proper gov agency to file. In all practical human dealing you do everything you can to Identify your intention, inform the customer and all who would see it, and protect your self legally to whatever level of time or money you can afford based on the value of the work.

so if you so set on protecting it, the answer is clear that you should have every informative and clarification, and notification that you could dream up shown, along with proper Snail mail contracts on pyhsical paper, that the customer can understand.

or just get paid up front, deliver good stuff, that people are happy to pay for, and let the rest of the chips fall where they may, knowing up-front that your doing a labor of love for good people who pay, and at times it will not go as planned.

@TardisGuy No, because windows as annoying restrictions (like preventing you from creating multiple partitions. Only showing one partition when you create multiple partitions via another OS. Requiring you to rewrite the firmware on the pendrive just to get around that...)

@Kugel I would say that no single GPU that's out today can handle the AAA games at 4k@60, so you're either going to need a dual-GPU part, or SLI/CrossFireX.

the GTX 980 is probably as close as they come for single-GPU config, but I guarantee you it will not deliver 60 FPS on any game produced to the highest fidelity levels and released in 2014/2015, let alone later.

if you want smooth FPS, just use 1080p.

any current-gen single-GPU should be fine in that case.

@allquixotic would you know anything about this i.stack.imgur.com/B4OxS.png ? the firmware of the raid card itself is 100% up to date, as it was when it came in. the driver is the one supplied on thier web site right next to the firmware it already has on it.

Is it possibly something else? For the dell perc controllers they just reset something in the controller/driver, but (of course) this setup does not use the same words for commands as a dell perc.

This type of error/warning, is possibly generated by MS, not nessisarily the raid card itself.

It could be it quit tossing this error (actually just a warning anyway) , and i am still freaking out about it, because there is like 1000+ of them. as the stupid thing pushed out 2 of them every 5 seconds.

because i have never updated the firmware on a hard drive itself, and am now in a position to do so, if that is the issue, i have to act now, prior to assembling (again) and filling the drives with data.

Updating the firmware on a drive is no different from updating the firmware on the card or any other device. (well except that you can not be booted from it atm and that you really want to backup your data)

I have done it twice. Once with drives on a SCSI bus (probably SAS) in a DELL MD3000 (ish). That worked fine but I used the dell tool on a Dell storage thingy with Dell branded drives

@Hennes yea i can see that with SSd more, as they trip making the new stuff, with old platter drives they have made for eons, and are highly reliable, i figured they got it right the first time :-)

WD has firmware for only certian internal drives to fix a raid drop Issue . WD1600YS, WD2500YS, WD4000YS, and WD5000YS makes that easy.

And updates to nas units and external "book" drives too, but for the usual internal there isnt much.
