@PeterTurner I didn't see the comment train Lee is talking about, but I do want to point out my frustration on other sites when comments are deleted way too soon. If they're still edits and things going on that are supposed to make the question better I would like to ask that the mods do not delete them until the question is fine and the comments no longer seem to apply.

@fredsbend I undeleted them all. I had waited till the question was closed to actually edit the question myself. There's almost nothing deleted right now (except an exchange between me and Dan)

@PeterTurner I know, I'm just letting you know as a regular user what I would prefer. Just trying to be helpful because I know you're a new mod.

I thought comment deletes were permanent, but still shown to mods. I guess they are soft deletes, just like questions and answers.

@fredsbend Close, but not quite. Mods can delete mod deleted comments, but if a user deletes their own comments we can't undelete those (as opposed to Q&A posts where we can).
