@fredsbend It wasn't small, it was 40% of the height of the post. Actually I'm surprised that you would want arguments about the duplicateness of a question in the question itself!

For the first time in forever...I have 0 items waiting for in all review queues! :P

@DavidStratton I kind of wish the mods used their power vtc more often. — fredsbend Dec 6 at 0:45
@fredsbend: You got your wish. :P

@El'endiaStarman I immediately though of the movie Frozen when I first read your comment. Any other parents of young children sympathize with me here?
@curiousdannii On FMS's, It's a bit much, yes, but it is already closed so it's really not that big of a deal to me. When it's still open, yes it is an issue.

@fredsbend That was my intent. :P

@fredsbend I'm open to chat if you're interested. Not sure what the appropriate room is, however.

Really!? But you don't have kids. Surely you've only seen it like twice. I've seen it like 500 times, twice.
@BenjaminHoogterp Any room really, but I can't chat long.

@fredsbend I was just intrigued by your answer. Most people don't hold a stand of simply "i don't pray"... so you just dismiss James 5:16?

I've seen it at least once. Maybe twice. Certainly seen several parts a few times. My fiancée, on the other hand, has seen it three times and loves it. We listen to the songs fairly often. I actually enjoyed the movie and the songs. Then again, I don't have kids who play it on repeat ad nauseum... :P

6:25 AM
@fredsbend me.either. just found the response interesting

(For others reading)
@El'endiaStarman Yes, the music, for the most part, was pretty good. The story is just meh.
Fun tidbit: The characters: Hans, Kristof, Ana, and Sven were named in honor of Hans Christian Andersen.
@BenjaminHoogterp I've recently lost faith.
@BenjaminHoogterp You do not pray?
Or you do?

@fredsbend Knew that. I also saw those posts with bunches of Frozen trivia bits. :P

@fredsbend I pray. I keep finding faith.. :P I've seen plenty of answers to prayer, including healing..

@El'endiaStarman Spend time on pinterest then? Girl. (lol, me too.)

@fredsbend although I don't get the opportunity to do it much right now, I was seeing upwards of 50% of people in prayed for healed for a few month period of time.. take it or leave it. It's not always like that for me, but I'm not alone. One man with a crushed foot who fell out of a tree. 4 year oxycotton he stopped taking cuz it didn't help, and was restored.

6:32 AM
@BenjaminHoogterp Always internal healing though. Never see an arm come back for an amputee. A bit tongue in cheek, but really, that's never happened. An no one prays for it anyway because they know it will never happen.

@fredsbend sorry. My android spell check made.that evangel-astic on me.. i typed 3 year

np
Being a skeptic now, I'm likely to leave anecdotal evidence.

@fredsbend On the contrary, people do pray for it, ad it does happen. Maybe less than 10%, but it's there. One guy i met, real nut, had a double compund fracture of the right forearm completely healed in front of 30-40 witnesses.

Further, my personal anecdotes are filled with disappointment.

Q: Why does God ignore amputees but listens to invisible disease patients?

chejavaraSo no matter how hard an amputee prays they will never get their arm back. But anyone with an invisible disease can pray to God and if it heals it is a miracle attributed to God and it is claimed that their prayers were answered. See 1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approachi...

I think the rational mind is left with only a few conclusions: 1) God can only do so much and internal medicine is apparently easier or 2) God rarely intervenes in either case and "miracles" of internal healing are simply the body healing itself or 3) God never intervenes at all, for there are no verifiable stories of people miraculously gaining new limbs or 4) it's all bunk. I think #1 sounds ridiculous. The others would all predict the same outcomes, so we cannot know. — fredsbend Aug 27 at 20:25

@fredsbend Well, all im saying iis it's out there. It may not be super common in mainstream, but the fellow.i.mentioned has seen every part of the body either healed or recreated... including dead raisings
@fredsbend I believe that post was closed. I would have answered it.

6:37 AM
That was just an example.

@fredsbend God does, hiwevee, heal amputees. Has, will, and really is looking for faith.

Personally, that disappointment I was talking about, I was faithful for most of my life. Though God never felt real to me.

@fredsbend *however

So for the last two years I believed my only prayer, pretty much daily was "be real in my life. Be real to me. If you want a relationship with me then meet me half way."

@fredsbend What i can say is.. try a different church. If Jesus doesNT go to your church, why should i? :P

6:39 AM
Upon analysis after the emotions waned, it all seemed like an internal mind game.
Nothing definitive about anything.
@BenjaminHoogterp I've been to tons of churches. I read tons of book. I've read most of the bible (probably about 90% - 95%). I went to Bible school for two semesters.
I know plenty, but it was never real to me.
I do still go to church btw.
my wife still believes. Mostly why I still go.

@fredsbend I didn't have much of a prayer life or connection with God until I spent a while here. Spent a simmerse and winter there, thr house of prayer in KC, Mo.

Assuming God feels real in your life, in what ways is he real?
@BenjaminHoogterp I've been to KC. Nice city.
@BenjaminHoogterp I've been to plenty of events like that too. Sure, I feel something there. I've also felt things during other things, like a regular sunday worship, or prayer meeting.

Well, it's hard to put it into language that's understood by all.. but, His presence. .. the real, feel able presence in the room of Him...and under the skin. And, of course He talks to me as I talk to Him... it's a dialogue

But it doesn't mean anything. God is not described as an existential thing.
He is described as a person.

Yes, He is..

6:46 AM
I have to reason to believe that if what I felt originated outside of my own mind was even the Christian God.

And, i guess, prayer often to me is about spending time with that person more than just a list of requests.

@BenjaminHoogterp This just sounds like meditation to me. Always has.
Everybody talks to themselves in some way.

If you wanted to get down to it, can you prove this conversation originates outside of your own mind?
I agree I talk to myself a lot too. But, there are thoughts that are foreign to me. Like, I couldn't have known that. That wasn't me.

Some have an abstract way of approaching it where that they can actually momentarily entertain two thought processes without them convening.
ie. voices in your head.
@BenjaminHoogterp In the spirit of Christmas ... Humbug!

And circumstances. Not to mention, in the circles I'm in, the prophetic. People hear from God, sometimes with great accuracy about what God is saying about others.

6:49 AM
Don't cheat yourself of original thoughts that literally did come from your own mind.

I've had people tell.me.I was going on trips before I knew.
Oh, I test it, believe me... I've been a skeptic. But when 9 out of 10 people in KC could "read my mail" better than I could.. all stangers, it made me bekieve.

@fredsbend Buzzfeed, actually. :P

@BenjaminHoogterp That is always the question. Then after that, can you prove it was the Christian God?

And it was by way of Facebook. Not like I went looking for it.

Well, it's actually easier than you might think....
First, suppose there's a spirit world with all these voices. It's like a lineup in a city of all the men in it. 1,000,000 let's say. How many ate your dad? Will you get confused? How do you know?
Find the one that's encouraging, loving, rescuing, and not harsh. But is still holy, pure, and radiant. That's the Christian one.
Then, test it out with your own human spirit... your human spirit has a know-er.. He's the one that doesn't lie
So, since He doesn't lie, what He says about Himself is teue.. I'm talking spiritual, here... not the Bible, although that comes in too.

6:53 AM
@BenjaminHoogterp That's not exclusively Christian. Further, what is holy, pure, and radiant? The first two are comparative terms.

As one person said, you can tell which voice is God and which isn't because God is always positive and the enemy is always negative.

@BenjaminHoogterp My own human spirit tell me these days that if there be a God the Christian god is not he.

Well, they are. But... there is something different about God... we call it Holy. But, how do you describe holiness to someone who doesn't knownit?

@BenjaminHoogterp What then is indifferent?

Interesting. Why is that?
Indifferent?
Like definition?

6:55 AM
You're on mobile right? You can't see where the replies lead can you?

Yes, mobile. I can follow links.

I really have to get to work though. So perhaps we can continue this later.

Nice quick chat, nonetheless.

Yep. Ttyl.

Q: How do I give back reps awarded for answering a question?

ByeI was just awarded reps for answering a question, and I would like to give them back. It is a personal thing in that I do not wish to have reps that someone else earned. I only want reps that I have received. Is there a way that I can return them to their rightful earner?

9:38 PM
Before I post on meta and open up a can of worms ...
Should we enforce different wording or something for questions that ask for the biblical basis of something, in that they assume the belief has a biblical basis in the first place?

I think Only He is Good found an outlet.

He must have been naughty, naughty, naughty.
I mean, wow! I've never even heard of that.
The only thing I can think is that he was sock puppeting really hard or otherwise cheating the system.
HEY JON!
Long time no see.

Hello. I'm spread too thin it seems. ;-)

Yeah. Aren't we all.
I guess FMS needed a break.
Okay. I trust the mods. You guys are pretty good and moderating.
