@Anonymous The one it started with (Bonewits) and the one it moved to (LGBT teens and homelessness).
Topic drift. It happens.

@TRiG Conversations among real people can drift to completely irrelevant topics. Dialogues in literature, on the other hand, are usually meaningful and related to the plot.

@TRiG and @El'endiaStarman either of y'all have expertise to lend to: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/31696/can-deaf-people-play-rpg ?

With viewing his entire presentation, I have a vague sense of what it's going to be about: investment in the stock market.
The pastor claims that he has somehow uncovered biblical truths of obtaining massive wealth. But I think he's just using the Bible to have authority.
I think it's phony baloney.

@waxeagle One of the answers advises finding a signing group. That seems the most sensible.
And the rest of that answer also seems both sensible and well-informed. I don't think I have anything to add to it.

@TRiG cool. Thanks for taking a look.

@waxeagle It's an interesting question, actually.

@TRiG yeah, it seems to me that a small group interaction where people are particularly prone to talking over each other, plus a lot of things are normally communicated verbally presents a special set of challenges to a person who cannot hear

A deaf person can use sign language!

@Anonymous this is unfortunately only helpful if another player at the table is versed in sign language

A deaf person may ask an interpreter then.
Maybe the relative or best friend is the interpreter.
A deaf person can also pass written notes.

yes, that's a very good option

@waxeagle Have you purchased that goat yet?

@Anonymous lol, not this year (or next probably)

@waxeagle Why not?
A female goat that is lactating can supply milk for your family!

@Anonymous they also require a great deal of care that I'm not ready to commit to

4:11 AM
@waxeagle feeding, brushing, toe-clipping...
@waxeagle reading the Bible to the goat...

@Anonymous milking

Ah! I can't find the "We're not Christians!" meta post!
I think it went something like this: "Brothers, we're not Christians. You may be a Christian; I may be a Christian; but we're not Christians!"
I think Caleb wrote it.
Never mind. I found it. It was right on Caleb's profile.

Q: Brothers, we are not Christians‼

CalebI am a Christian. You say you are. But we are not. It seems that a lot of folks are having a hard time wrapping their heads around the scope of this site. While I respect the SE staff* and have been impressed with the effort they have taken (and judgement they have shown) in nurturing this site ...

The search engine is not very good at understanding contractions.
On the other hand, I did add quotes, so the search engine probably assumed that the whole phrase was what it was supposed to be searching for rather than searching for the post with the right meaning.

Q: Just to keep things lively, how about some live debate on the origins of the universe?

CalebPersonally I think it's a rare question it the field of science and the creation vs. evolution debate that makes a really good fit for this site, but that doesn't mean our community isn't interested in the topic! For anyone with a weather ear out for the subject there is an upcoming live debate* ...
