An excellent first answer here!

A: Biblical Arguments for Universal salvation

Muhd Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. —Romans 5:18 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heav...

@Richard was it you I was talking to in complaint of not being able to link to verses on mystudybible.com? It turns out they aren't actually trying to restrict access so much as just failed at usability. You can link directly to a verse if you know what to click. I was trying to find a link on a <a> item somewhere on the page. It turns out you can get a link if you select a block of text and get a popup.

@TRiG I don't think that comment is easy to read, but the whole last phrase should be italic not just the word Christian. The problem is the answer doesn't show why (any|some) Christians think it is moral. It brings up a textual weight issue and suggests that the opposition is actually cultural not theological, but talking about the background motivation of the oppositions doesn't answer the question that was asked which is what is the argument for it being moral.

@Caleb Yeah, that was me. That is nice. I'll have to keep that in mind!
That is a major usability issue, though.

@Richard Yes. That site has some nice features but it needs a serious overhaul as well.

@Chad hi!
I'll like to add to the comment discussion that non-Jews weren't persecuted AFAIK. Rather, e.g. Roman citizens were in high standing at that time.

Yes they were. Quite frankly all religious groups have been to some extent

(for the record, the comment discussion is at christianity.stackexchange.com/q/4260/#comment-10947)
@Chad are you saying that anyone uncircumcised would have had to be afraid?

It was a time of war. The jews were being persecuted by the romans. And the Jews were not accepting of outsiders
If they traveled into the land of the Jews and tried to blend in and was found out not to be a jew then yes.

@Chad wasn't it a time of peace, albeit with occupation?
(I'm starting to see that my knowledge of history is lacking...)

peace ~100 AD is not peace 2kAD
justice at the time was swift and torturous
and it was more punishment than justice.

@Chad ok, so the point is that Jews would have been carefully looking for anything that would incriminate any inconvenient person such as Timothy. Including any peeking to find if he was uncircumcised. (sorry to put this so bluntly) Right?

Not to mention you had the romans, persians, turks, egyptians and none of them really liked the jews and most of them thought they should be slaves
Not necessarily. But a non jew caught proselytizing in a jewish community is not going to be treated well
Seeing as not having a circumcision marks you as a non jew it would be dangerous to go with out it. But no I doubt anyone would be inspecting his package just as a matter of course
But if there was a trial you could expect them to put his uncircumsized penis on display...

@Chad you've explained the situation quite a lot now. I think you should edit some of this into the answer!
I've gotta go for a while (sorry), real life calls!

@Chad when you do integrate into your post let me know either here or with a flag on the comments and I'll clean them up
