One of them my shiny Airport Time Capsule with beamforming and everything.
The other was my nasty ISP-provided modem-router thing from ye olden days.

something about hard-failure on these value errors is angering me...
@Undo @ArtOfCode at earliest convenience - github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/pull/487 - an attempt to 'handle' such ValueErrors in a way that won't explode evilly. Though, I leave it to you to decide to incorporate or not.
(I keep getting tired of random crashes lol)

CI on dcad2ad succeeded. Message contains 'autopull', pulling...

Looks good to me. If it works I'll be pretty happy

Restart: API quota is 8284.

That's an annoying error

@Undo well, if it gets an invalid error, it gets stuck in the loop until the 'valid' values which dont trigger errors are there, and only on those errors
any other ValueError results in the hard crash
and any other error type also results in the crash
the only downside will be if it takes fifty tries to get a valid value, but I don't think it'll have to take 50 to get a valid value
i could recode it with a counter and a count over a certain # of tries hard-crashes with a custom RuntimeError name
in the interim though it won't explode on us heh
I've used these 'special case' while loops before, with a listserv implementation
where if there's a "send an email" timeout, it tries again and again up to 10 times to resend
delaying 10 seconds each try
and then continues when successful

Yeah, should work

3:26 AM
@Undo fun fact: the vodka seems to have made it noticeable to fix heh

@Andy technically that is an infinite loop until the break is reached :P
given we only ever see that crash error once in a blue moon, if we never see the error again all is good.

Is there a se-wide 'mod' around who can take action on a really vile post on ELL? : ell.stackexchange.com/q/117567/32

@StoneyB you're looking for an ELL mod or a community manager - I don't think we have either here. I've pinged the relevant people, though.

Normally we flag that as abusive, which doesn't need mod intervention. But that would only confuse the spam filters - and perhaps even mods - now that you've edited it. Please don't edit spam/abusive.

We have enough people here to nuke the post as rude/abusive.
Just do it in another browser without FDSC ...

What about the server-side filter?

@StoneyB As a general rule, if you come across something like that - don't edit it. Just leave it as is, and flag it as abusive - that removes the post far quicker. Editing it obscures the offensive bit, which often means people don't flag it and it doesn't get removed.
@JanDvorak Mods have been pinged, flag away.

It's gone already.
@JanDvorak I hadn't thought of that, but I'm not sure it even exists for rude/abusive content.

@Glorfindel I would certainly hope so. Otherwise there would have been far more penis pics on Chem.se than there were.
