Q: Why was this spam flag on this spamlicious post declined?

Robert ColumbiaI just flagged this post. At first it appears to be a sans-mcve debugging request, but it contains the following passage near the bottom: we have more than 300k product,check this here Visit (redacted)? The flag was promptly declined with the message: declined - a moderator reviewed you...

@YvetteColomb Do keep up. The developers of SD have been testing automated flagging of posts that reach a certain spam score ...
See the starwall ===>

@DavidPostill well I'm in 2017, so I need to go into the past to find out :)

6:31 PM
@dorukayhan in 2017

@ArtOfCode it is 2017 for me :p

@dorukayhan Not until (a) we're happy with the accuracy and reliability of the system as is; (b) we have permission from SE

does this mean we don't have to flag ourselves, but our accounts will be used to flag?

yep
it's currently dry-running on SmokeDetector's account - not actually casting any flags at the moment, though we did cast flags for 24 hours or so just to verify that it could
the flagging dashboard that @dorukayhan linked gives you all the status and stats for the platform

@ArtOfCode one can flag questions and answers as spam/rude/abusive from the api. i believe that and se considering integrating smokey would be enough for autoflagging spam and not having a run-in with an se employee

6:36 PM
@ArtOfCode great idea and I'm from the future ;)

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Few unique characters in answer: How do I install the latest version of Libre Office? by dsadsa on elementaryos.stackexchange.com

@dorukayhan aye, but there's a difference between using the API to cast flags on your own account (or the app owner's account) and creating a centralised platform that uses multiple accounts to cast multiple flags. It smells vaguely of the kinds of things sock operators do, which isn't good.
Bear in mind that there is quite literally nothing like this that has been done before, so even if we're happy with what we're doing, it's courteous to give SE a chance to veto it.

@ArtOfCode but you take flaggers' consent

@dorukayhan yep, and very deliberately and explicitly. But... there's still something about hitting a post with multiple flags at once, without any human intervention, that probably wasn't considered when they designed the API.

Not perfect, but it works

@Undo I was thinking about the "repeat" code for retrying an API call, would you be OK with it retrying once and then dying off for that API query?

!!/test connectbroadband.org

> Would not be caught for title, body, and username.

@ThomasWard Sure, that'd be fine.

okay, then I'mma write that in. Probably.

8:19 PM
@ThomasWard Might be easiest to just throw it back in the queue, actually
That'd give you unlimited retries for free.

i'll have to look into the code - my brain's also not at 100%

I don't think there's an instance where we would get a bad URL and keep trying; it should only be network issues that give us problems

@Undo right, but I meant on Timeout failures

Right

like we were seeing yesterday(?)

8:21 PM
    self.queue_modify_lock.acquire()
    if site_base in self.queue:
        self.queue[site_base].append(post_id)
    else:
        self.queue[site_base] = [post_id]
    self.queue_modify_lock.release()
I think we could put something like that in github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/master/…
variable names are all wrong, but otherwise I don't see why it wouldn't work

yeah that's where i'm looking at now

Heh, I was wondering where the three second delay was coming from for flagging. I think I found it: github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/master/…

I can reduce that if you want while i'm here
it'll be a separate commit but

nah, that needs to be researched a little
I suspect it was put there for a reason, need to figure out what it was

hmm

@Undo it looks like we don't have individual postIDs currently tracked in here
we join them together in question_modifier

@ThomasWard We should have them in posts

ahhh, okay....
@Undo so if it fails on one request it's failing for all those posts?

@ThomasWard If it's a timeout, I think it is

8:28 PM
We handle API-level errors already.
In general, if we give it an ID it doesn't know about it just returns nothing
(for that ID, other ones return data)

cool

oh, you'll want to release that lock

oops you're right standby
poushed up now
in any case, if the lights and internet go out, I have a full power charge in my laptop, and my phone hotspot can turn on and pull power from three battery packs in succession :P

8:32 PM
One more quick change, I'm doing it

And another thing: What's the easiest way to append an array to an array?
[1,2,3].append([1,2]) gives [1,2,3,[1,2]], I want [1,2,3,1,2]

um.

lists, I guess

I think:
for item in appendarray:
    origarray[foo].append(item)

8:36 PM
Oh, extend works
@ThomasWard that'd work too

or that :)
or h/e you do it
