Hi. Is there a good reason to mark this earlier question as duplicate of this later question, not the other way around? Is it because of the better answer to the later one? When I try to flag a duplicate, it says "This question has been asked before and already has an answer". The word "before" suggests that precedence should matter.

@KamilMaciorowski Ignore the "before" as it is a little ambiguous. Any question can be marked as a duplicate of another one. The target should be the one with better answers or the one with a canonical answer. Remember also that the target has to to have at least one accepted or upvoted answer.

@KamilMaciorowski In your example the duplicate is correct. Note that "this earlier question" did not even have a good answer so it would be silly to mark the duplicate the other way around. In short, ignore the dates and look at which has the best answers.
