Its a mod actually. and I prolly should ping @random about that - better to get the answer from the mod in question.
Also, yeah, get that powermeter ;p
(Personally, I ended up running long running tasks on a seperate, low power machine)

Why not test it yourself? The results will no doubt vary from one brand/model of CPU to the next anyway. The CPU won't necessarily obey the settings you are choosing, it will have its own set power states. — James Jan 26 at 14:06
It depends on what is used, what is tested and you'll get into a criss-cross of hypotheticals on hypotheticals

Ops, I thought linking to the comment would display it in a quotation style, like @random did. Anyway, I'm wondering if it's possible to get the question open again by means of a major rewrite of the relevant portion, since my interest on this is out of curiosity and not specific to my case.
