I'm not sure this warrants deletion but I'm still tempted to flag it.

I'm having trouble with understanding why second answers are deleted when they help clearly confirm issues that are raised by posters?

Since you need 50 reputation to confirm in a comment, it seems that the only way another user can approve an answer as valid is by upvoting, in which case he cannot provide further detail, or earn reputation for confirming.

Do you apply a "let's not have 12 similar answers" kind of philosophy even if the answers each have their own characteristics and addendums?

@Lbab mostly. 50 rep is trivial and you can always comment on your own posts. Comments are transient too. I guess the goal is to minimise noise, which non answer answers and 'this worked perfectly' comments are
