Whorcruces: I will not put one in a locket. I will not put one in my pocket. I will not put one in a crown, or a wig, or dressing gown. I will not put one in a snake. Even if that snake is fake! I will not put one in a cup, or in a lift that's going up. I do not like Whorcruces, Sam. I do not like them, Sam I am.

halflings - All weapons are S sized?
So a warhammer is 1d6?

System?

> A weapon's size category isn't the same as its size as an object. Instead, a weapon's size category is keyed to the size of the intended wielder. In general, a light weapon is an object two size categories smaller than the wielder, a one-handed weapon is an object one size category smaller than the wielder, and a two-handed weapon is an object of the same size category as the wielder.

thx

Anyone know if there is any supported 5e adventures for levels 15-20 once you finish Rise of Tiamat?

hahaha. someone on worldbuilding is talking about trying to figure out a magivore, i.e. a creature that eats magic, and wants feedback on an idea they haven't seen before in stories: a magivore that's a bacteria or virus, and spreads like the cold and impairs magic users' abilities to do magic.
first comment is

@waxeagle thats crazy

An interesting idea would be if it eventually ate the magic user. — Dustin Jackson 13 hours ago

I'm super busy with school right now and dont have time to write an adventure

@MC_Hambone nothing published yet

2:47 AM
dang it

best way to be a magivore is to just eat the wizards

Plus elemental evil doesnt come out for a month right? apr 30?
ahh nvm apr 7

3:08 AM
@MC_Hambone wotc philosophy right now is just to build the campaigns to their end then move on. Don't think we'll see anything more for that storyline

Woo...roommate just gave me a 95 edition of the AD&D PHB

4:07 AM
@doppelgreener I'm sure I've seen that before. Somewhere.

@DavidWilkins 1995? The black-bordered one?

@SevenSidedDie yep, thats the one
It is very used, but intact

@DavidWilkins That was my first PHB that I actually owned myself. I will never understand how that guy's ribcage works.

Haha
I love the forward/warning
Oh...I think this is a first printing

@DavidWilkins Could be. This revision/"edition" was late in the 2e era. RPGGeek only lists two printings.

4:19 AM
Cool. Unlike my 5e PHB which is I think 9th printing

@DavidWilkins Really?! I didn't realise they'd gone through so many already.

Yeah, I am guessing really small runs
I'm just going by the numbers on the bibliography page, and me education thereon could be flawed

Q: Looking for an RPG portraying dogfights and fighter pilots

nvoigtI have been playing a lot of Wings of War (rebranded Wings of Glory) and Ace Patrol recently. I'm looking for a roleplaying game that captures the feel and the complexity, but also the speed and split second reactions of dogfighting in the skies. I don't have any specific requirements for the...

Anyone have experience with Aces & Eights?
No, wait, that's the wrong game. Didn't Kenzer & Co do a flying aces game?
I must be misremembering, since I don't see anything like that on their site.
Hmp. TSR's Dawn Patrol is the only thing I can find that's even vaguely a flying-ace RPG. Grognaria's retrospective indicates it has roleplaying elements, but not complete enough to be considered a full RPG today. It sound like it could be used as the structural framework of an RPG, but you'd have to pair it with another ruleset to provide out-of-plane rules.

7:29 PM
Yeah, I'm not familiar with anything that covers the dogfighting aspect in as much detail as the questioner requires that is also a roleplaying game either

@Phil I think Dawn Patrol + some other RPG (in the tradition of AD&D calling for a game of Outdoor Survival as its wilderness exploration subsystem) would do the job. But I haven't done it, and I haven't found anyone's experience doing it online that I could cite. (Apparently AD&D's famously/oddly complicated flight rules are because they're directly drawn from Dawn Patrol.)

@SevenSidedDie I've never seen the AD&D flight rules, just 3.5 and 5e's

@Shalvenay The complexities in 3.5e's aerial combat can be blamed on AD&D.

haha

7:46 PM
Oh, found two more RPGs. One in Spanish, though: Dogfight [Spanish] (English review) and In Harm's Way: Aces In Spades.
And I think that's it. If someone's played these, or can dig up an Actual Play to base an answer on, I think we can properly answer that question with Good Subjective.

Oh gosh, I swear I checked that recent question for tags and saw none, so I posted a rather confused comment asking for the system or setting to be stated. Then I realized it was tagged all along, so... [puts comment out of its misery]
