12:10 AM
@BESW WHAT?!?!?

12:27 AM
@BESW -- its what an Elven archer should look like ;) but in any case -- I'm glad that this topic is being touched on out in these corners

@BESW w-which movie are we talking about now?
oh, wait, movies in general?

In general, yes.
The new Atomic Robo website layout is sweet.

12:43 AM
webcomic sites should not have this much space above the comic

@doppelgreener Nods

Hmm. [pokes]

(or should have some way of rendering it unnecessary to scroll that distance for each page)
I'm gonna tweet 'em

Darths and Droids is probably the best layout for a webcomic page I know of
No scrolling, no intervening pages, nothing extra to load - just open the page and read

Darths and Droids has the problem of having tiny previous/next buttons, though.

12:45 AM
They should at least have a fragment identifier.
Someone should tell them.

@DuckTapeAl Hmmm, fair point. It's not something I have a problem with, but I can see how it's not ideal.

@BESW I will now.

'cause really, just a # id attribute embedded in each page link would go a long way.

I'm really entertained by the subtle difference between the Board and Card Game SE and RPG SE answers to the "What's the difference between a board game and an RPG" question.

@bclevinger The new layout is cool, but could you make the header smaller or remove the need to scroll for each page? http://t.co/7VgsXo6kfC

12:50 AM
@DuckTapeAl Links? :)

Q: What's the difference between a roleplaying game and a board game?

JoeWhat's the difference between a roleplaying game and a non-roleplaying tabletop game? An RPG using miniatures looks (at a glance) a lot like a non-RP miniatures game. Some RPGs use cards, but they're not card games. Some games don't use boards or cards (like Pictionary), yet they're not RPGs. ...

@bclevinger The first solutions that come to mind are using an anchor, or using AJAX to load each comic without a full page refresh.

7
Q: How is a roleplaying game not a board game?

JoeLet's say you have a roleplaying game with these elements: a board on the table, depicting the rooms of a castle miniature pieces on the board, representing the different characters in the game cards and dice used as randomizers How is this not a board game? (The question may sound antagonis...

Oh hey, they're by the same user.
Didn't even notice.

Probably looking for different perspectives.

@bclevinger Also apologies for blocking your ads. If it's any consolation, I've already bought almost all the print comics (and I <3 them)

12:52 AM
Likely.

(Which he definitely got.)

Oh, and on the best-webcomic-layout thing, I'd vote for SMBC: smbc-comics.com
There's a lot of headspace, but if you go forwards or backwards through the archive, it snaps your screen to where the comic starts.
And it's got keyboard controls, so I don't have to use the mouse to archive binge.

@DuckTapeAl personally i like the comics that just let me click on the comic itself, and don't have keyboard controls

Fair enough.
The reason I don't typically like that is if I leave my mouse on the image of a comic, then text typically comes up, covering part of the comic.
So I prefer setups that allow me to leave my mouse off the image.

1:32 AM
@DuckTapeAl yeah, i don't like having the text show up either (at least in firefox it's in the lower left and not a tooltip), but i like having a big target that's going to be right there (because I'm reading it) rather than having to scroll up or down and hunt for a fairly small target above/below/beside the comic
time taken to click an icon is inversely proportional to its size, so a great big comic-sized button = very quick to click on
the best case though is always having a guarantee my mouse can just stay where it is on a Next button that's off the comic.

Yes, which is why I like keyboard controls. It's even quicker to press a button that is guaranteed to never move than one you have to track.

1:54 AM
yeah there's lots of psychological stuff here 8)
like i'm not comfortable being told "you can't rest your finger on your keyboard in case you press the button that interrupts your reading" but i'm fine with being unable to click my mouse

Yeah, I'm the opposite. I never accidentally hit a keyboard button, but I accidentally click my mouse all the time.

mainly because my fingers are resting there so I can scroll the comic! but if my ring finger gets just a little too heavy, the right arrow gets pressed and i get my reading interrupted.
@Magician As a software developer I agree with this assessment.

1 hour later…
3:08 AM
@Bankuei by "ragequitting him"... do you mean you ragequit from his game, or you made him ragequit?
(the way you've phrased it isn't a way i'm familiar with)

I think "ragefiring" might be the intended meaning.

3:25 AM
Dear Internet: there is a difference between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. I love them both, but please try to learn why my love for each of them is its own unique and special unicorn.

@BESW not sure whether it will reinforce or undermine the point of your meta answer, but a possibly-useful argumentative device would be the case where someone asks how to do X with class Y, and at the time there's limited ways to do that, then someone releases a sourcebook on doing X and suddenly there's too many ways. has anything like that happened?
not sure it has.
(because, y'know, if you want to do thing there's usually no convenient way)

Yeah, my answer begs the question of sufficient previous experience to recognise useful patterns.

Whoever's having a morning currently - mine now. Morning.

4:04 AM
@キキジキ Hi!

Not morning yet here, I am just waiting on the blizzard to hit

Still waiting to see this "biggest lizard New York has ever seen" everyone is talking about today. Is it bigger than a Komodo dragon?

5:08 AM
@BESW haha.

5:28 AM
Hahaha!

5:57 AM
@BESW Have you seen Babylon 5: The Lost Tales? The "demon rocks in space" comment made me remember one of the stories...

I have not!
The demon rocks are totally @trogdor's fault, anyway.

It's basically a series of short stories, each featuring only a few characters. One is about a guy from Earth who comes to Babylon 5, and turns out to be possessed by a demon (whether it's a supernatural being or a noncorporeal alien is left open to interpretation). I won't spoiler the ending...

6:44 AM
@Adeptus Ending: he just had schizophrenia all along, and Babylon 5 had reverted to a medieval understanding of the disease. Everyone feels bad, has a philosophical reflection and the episode ends.
(* not the actual ending, I haven't seen this at all)

7:31 AM
@BESW I will cop to that
I thought it sounded like a decent idea to bring some magic into the game

Sometimes it really bothers me that comments can't be downvoted.

Hm?

@BESW It wasn't a particularly egregious example of the genre, it just triggered my "why can't I downvote this?" reaction.
And no, my "why can't I downvote this?" reaction is not limited to SE.

[imagines Miniman desperately searching for the downvote button on fellow subway passengers]

could I get some proofreading on this board games.SE question? It's one of the "tell me why the publishers did it, and absolutely not just why you think they might have done it" questions, and we have experience with that stuff and I want to make sure I'm asking it effectively.
i am sure a cross-site proofreading request is very unusual

7:47 AM
Seems reasonable.

@BESW yay! \o/

2 hours later…
10:06 AM
Umm.
At what point was this not worthy of a simple "homebrew needs to be backed up by experience" answer?

@BESW Erm...because he deleted it before anyone could answer it?

@BESW I dunno what triggers a Community lock.

I'm not sure what "locked by Community" actually entails, but I think it means he deleted it in response to some other action.
...it seems to have something to do with migration.
There's an auto-lock feature on migrations that get poor reception.
But the details are fuzzy.

10:32 AM
migrated and self-deleted; the only thing anyone actually did was one person downvoting it (and, well, it getting migrated)
also the guy might have felt his question was not asked as constructively as it could be (due to 10k link)
which is true, it was inviting argumentative responses

10:47 AM
What does it mean when a user's name is greyed out on their question? Does it mean their account has been deleted? Looking at this question for reference.

10:57 AM
@Miniman rejected migration.
basically any closure/deletion will reject the migration, even by the OP. and that auto locks it

Ahah.
Ta for that.
@PurpleMonkey I'm unsure. Have you done a search in Meta Stack Exchange?

@BESW Not yet, was busy trying to understand wth this question was actually asking.

@PurpleMonkey He wants to enlarge an animal, then kill it. He's wondering if the corpse will be enlarge or not.

@Miniman I know that now :p

@PurpleMonkey Sorry.

11:17 AM
@PurpleMonkey usually that means the user was deleted, or the question got migrated to a site they weren't on, but that doesn't seem to be what happened here!

2 hours later…
1:17 PM
yoz

zoy

the snowday I should not be having but am off for nonetheless

lol, wish we'd had one here, I could use a day off my feet

basically we only got like 2-3 inches in philly
but all the projections showed 5-8 and it was supposed to be falling heavy around 6pm yesterday
so everyone called off for today yesterday afternoon
and then the storm swung in more north, (you know how noreasters can be wax)
So im about to shovel wheat fell b ut it should be pretty easy

@Miniman ZARDOZ.

1:20 PM
then make the wife some waffles
@besw you brought this upon us

Hey, look, it's a picture of Dorothy Gale.

1:49 PM
Morning

[wave]

@Aaron Mine now.
Hello.

@JoshuaAslanSmith that I do, though the ones I remember were the late fall ones that were basically like huricanes

How is everyone today?

1:58 PM
Today I crammed two pages' worth of text into a single poster, while retaining legibility, style, and whitespace. Today was exhausting.

that sounds like a feat

Also there was naval muzak, pen tablet research, awful smells, and a distinct dearth of chocolate.
And no more leftover chili.

2:56 PM
hmmm looks like take-backsies on snow day

really? I've never seen anyone do that

apparently while my phone died in the night the school sent out a hey we are actually gonna be open around 530 am
yeah
like I plugged my phone in this morning but didnt turn it on
because why would I need to
I just turne din on a half hour ago while making waffles
and my one supervisor had texted me asking if i was okay

oops

yeah I feel zero qualms about being this late to work (leaving in 5 minutes)
because this is pretty much unprecedented

no, I mean once you make that call, the expectation, even if you reverse on it, should be that no one is coming in

3:58 PM
ah okay

2 hours later…
6:03 PM
ooh first 5e survey is out

yep
taking it now
need to voice my concerns about MAD classes
I think a lot of the martial classes with spellcasting got the short end
Maybe Im spoiled by 4es sensible use of class features to alter main stats used for things to stop classes from being MAD
at specific class feedback now
I liked the power comparison questions

@JoshuaAslanSmith yes. I also think overall the caster/non-caster divide is still too significant
@JoshuaAslanSmith I did too
that said, I also think that balance is intentionally less emphasized in this edition and so that's by design and I'm mostly OK with it

yes thats true

(and at least at this point, there is a fairly limited amount of optimization that can be done)

@waxeagle are there magic items that buff spellcasting in teh way there are magic weapons?

6:12 PM
@JoshuaAslanSmith not really

for example a magic weapon can easily let a spell focused cleric be better in combat with a 14 str
yeah thats what I figured

there a couple that boost your spell cast attack rolls, but they are super rare (as far as the count of htem)

need some ioun stones or something so that a ranger like mine could actually take offensive based spells

there might be something like that floating about that *replaces your spell cast modifier for some spells?). But not much in the straight up +1 to attack/damage way

hmmm yeah
@waxeagle need to re read the domains

6:23 PM
yeah, I probably should have waited, but I know a couple I was really happy with, and I wasn't unhappy with any of htem

6:35 PM
and im falling asleep watching a youtube video at work because the games music is so relaxing
A game I kickstarted, strategy game in the dark ages called at the gates
the soundtrack weve heard so far has a lot of really simple string mucic, mostly bass and cello playing long, sonorous themes

that sounds nice and pleasant

Look, @KRyan, I know. I know how stupid is the thing, believe me. Proof by contradiction might work. That other thing? I don't think it's enough. Was it me, you would have convinced me. Even because I already believe the game to play the way we all say.

Im supremely excited for the game

(I'll be afk now)

its by Jon Schafer who was lead designer on civ 5 and gameplaywise it seems to focus on some on the part of that game I liked best, early game when you are exploring and discovering new resources and threats

6:51 PM
@Zachiel I don't care if it's "not enough" for this idiot, that is how the English language works. The interpretation you posit isn't "lawyering," it's wrong
that is just not what the words mean

@KRyan question related?

Q: Now that the 5e DMG is released, what is the best approach to revisit existing questions?

kbrimingtonThere are a great many questions about the 5th edition of D&D that were asked prior to the release of all of the core books. Some of those questions are now outdated, since additional detail is available in the DMG. For better or worse, these outdated questions have accepted answers. As a result...

7:13 PM
@JoshuaAslanSmith yeah

A: Can a single attack be a full attack action?

KRyanBottom Line A full attack is not something granted because you have multiple attacks, it is the required action to take advantage of them. You can always make a full-attack, even if you see no benefit for doing so. A character with haste, by definition, has multiple attacks. Thus, they not only...

there we go
A rules statement that says "you can X" and he's arguing that it doesn't actually mean you can choose to do X

7:25 PM
On the street I can go by feet or by car.
If one tells me "you can, sure, but you don't have a car", what should I tell him?
That it doesn't matter because, theoretically, I can?
The sentence we're arguing about is the same:
In a normal round, you can perform a standard action and a move action, or you can perform a full-round action.
Provided you have the prerequisites. Prerequisites I don't think exist, but that guy I'm looking do disprove does.

no, it's not the same
or, rather, you are supplying extra information in the car example, because contextually you know that going by car has the requirement of having a car
so really, your statement is "you can go by feet or by car (if you have a car)"
you are inserting that condition there
there is no similar requirement for a full-round action
we know this because the rules never state that there is one

and this guy, with no proofs on his side and supposedly no proofs on our side, says that unless it's written somewhere that that condition isn't there, he's free to think things work his way, since they're coherent with the rules. Is this a stupid thing to do? Yes, it is. I'm not disputing it's stupid, I'm hoping there's something confuting the basics of his reasoning.

yes, there is: his reasoning is inherently flawed and contradicts the language of the rules
the rules say you can

I'm lookin if, somewhere in some obscure place, the rules state that there isn't one, which is slightly but significantly different

therefore, you can
period
@Zachiel they do state that there is no other requirement
because they state what the requirements are
and don't state any others
@Zachiel what you are saying is that this moron wants a letter signed by Skip Williams telling him he is wrong. He wants this because he knows he'll never get it, which means he'll never have to admit he is wrong. He is absolutely adamant about not doing that, because he likes being right. And that is an idiot that isn't worth interacting with.

7:35 PM
You know what? I'm gonna exit this conversation. As I already said, that guy conceded not to argue against us, I don't see why I should keep arguing to prove a point that's not mine

@Zachiel because you haven't accepted either one of the absolutely conclusive and correct answers, and maintain that they aren't good enough
@Zachiel because, at this point, the question basically wasn't asked in good faith

I don't think he wants that. I think he just wants us to see that what we tought was written actually isn't

@Zachiel it is
his failure to understand the English language is no one's fault but his own
when it says you can, you actually can

then, it's also my failure to understand English

none of the rules work unless you accept that the things they say are true, actually are true

7:38 PM
I think I see what the point is

@Zachiel were you going to elaborate on that?

If the guy starts thinking things work his way and then looks at the rules, he finds nothing to definitely disprove them, but has a hard time arguing that things might not be meant to tell what they seem to do. Instead, starting from our PoW, nothing has to be twisted to conform to what we think we know. Which means we're very, very probably right (unless Skip Williams, of course)

@Zachiel no, not probably, definitely
and definitively
as in, by definition. Because full-round actions are defined as one of the ways you can spend your turn, and full attack is defined as something you can do as a full-round action
if you have the ability to take any full-round action, you have the ability to take a full attack
why? because it's listed as an option for a full-round action
that is literally part of its definition

unless you can read in Skip William's mind, I don't think there's anything definitive. He might (reeeeeeally small change) even have botched the rules he wrote and been meaning something completely different instead. But yeah, save that, definitely

@Zachiel he botched a lot of things, if the FAQ and Rules of the Game are any indication
except that doesn't matter because we have the rules we have
if Skip Williams contradicted them, he would be wrong

7:42 PM
mmmh wait, that part about full attack being defined as a thing you can do as a full round action, is it because of the chapter it's in, right?

just like your friend is

No doubts on both FAQ+RotG and my "friend"
I can just say I played with him once three years ago or so, back when he had a level 3 character

@Zachiel I'm AFB, so I don't know exactly how it reads in the PHB, but in the SRD you have “Full-Round Actions [some stuff about not using a full-round action at the same time as a move or standard action] Full Attack

This must mean something, You know, we're playing Planescape, the Rule of Three...
yes yes I just wanted to be sure

it's listed under the head of Full-Round Actions
and in the table of Full-Round Actions

7:46 PM
mmmh now, suppose you have something that activates when you take a swift action. Can you take a swift action for doing nothing, just to have that something activated? By our reasoning, it looks like we can...

Full Attack is listed as the first one

(at this point, I'm no more talking about the original problem, just wondering about the implications)

@Zachiel that would be inane and I don't think the rules actually address it, but that's not actually a parallel question
our reasoning does not imply that
because a swift action is a type of action
not an action itself
a Full Attack is an action
of the Full-Round Action type

somewhat parallel. What's it that actually allows me to declare a full round action and then just do a standard?

@Zachiel there's a special exception that allows you to abort a full attack after the first attack, making it only a standard-action attack
is that what you mean?
or do you imagine that if you Full Attack, but only have one attack, it's now the same as a standard-action Attack?
because that's not true
it's a Full Attack, it just happens to only have the one action

7:48 PM
no, that's actually an exception. And I don't think that qualifies as doing a full attack action, in the end. That would be a profitable bug, I think

@Zachiel I don't know what you're saying or getting at here

I was thinking that the core of the problem this guy had was being unable to figure why, if you only attacked once, it wasn't a standard action

@Zachiel because you said so, as is your right, because the rules say you can
period

and that's why I think the proof by contradiction would be great, because it would solve the problem the other way, by demonstrating that you can do multiple attacks in that full round action because of haste

you could have said it was a standard action, if you wanted
you're not required to use a full attack, when you only have one attack
but nothing says that you can't use a full attack even though you don't have to

7:51 PM
and yes, that's what I was orally taught. Unfortunately, unlike M:tG, I learned D&D by osmosis

@Zachiel that's also true but separate; you could still take a full attack even if you had no haste
it would be pointless, you can
@Zachiel I again have no idea what you're saying here

Ah, if only a full attack was declared like it is in the Italian manual. "You can use a full attack to deal one or more attacks"
@KRyan I'm saying I learned the game before reading the rules, so most things I know are due to people telling them their interpretation, rather than being RAW.

@Zachiel no, that I understood: I don't know what you mean by "that"
what were you orally taught?

the three things jou said just before the sentence of mine we're talking about.
Or, to better say, the first two.

@Zachiel then you were taught correctly and I still don't know what you're getting at

7:54 PM
Because I really never tought about that nothing before last week

there are all kinds of things the book doesn't say
it doesn't say that you can full attack even if you lack a badger
it doesn't say that because it already says you can full attack
and doesn't need to bring badgers up at all

I'm saying that I get to doubt what I know and I get "oh gosh it's possible I've always been wrong, better ask" whenever someone understands the rules differently than me

this situation is exactly that absurd
@Zachiel that's perfectly fair
except now the rules have been explained, at length, but now you "don't like" the rules
which was a fantastic way to waste all our time

while I usually don't in M:tG. But maybe that's because M:tG rules are better written
Hey I did never say I don't like the rules

@Zachiel M:tG rules are more comprehensive and legalistic
@Zachiel ok, you think he doesn't like the rules
doesn't like the way the English language works

7:58 PM
I think he read that sentence about "you need a full roound to make 2+ attacks", understood it completely wrong, grow convinced over time that those are the rules and now, when we told him that does not read as he thinks, he's on the defensive.
But again, it doesn't matter
(What I'm still not convinced is that, even if the rules were like that guy said, haste would create the condition for full attacking.)

@Zachiel they would, because to read it otherwise is completely obtuse
but that's less "this is literally the only way you could read this" and more "this is the only way that isn't completely stupid"
@Zachiel yes, he most likely did
2 or more attacks → full attack

@KRyan And I mean "understood it competely wrong somewhere in the faraway past"

@Zachiel he's committed the logical fallacy of affirming the converse, if we want to be technical
we have ">1 attack → full attack" in the rules, and he wants that to also mean "full attack → >1 attack"

Q: Gm advice: how to manage play in a zombie RPG pre outbreak

Seamus HarrisonI am planning on starting my Newest campaign for End of the world: Zombie Apocalypse before the outbreak has occurred. I am looking for advise on how to make the gameplay interesting, and realist. For instance I can't have my PCs running around hoarding supplies and the like when the rest of...

but the latter statement isn't in the rules at all
and not being in the rules, it's not true
@JoshuaAslanSmith weirdly, I feel like that question could, with a little tweaking, be acceptable on worldbuilding SE
even though I agree that it probably shouldn't be, since it's idea-generation

8:05 PM
@KRyan (as a joke) the rules don't say I can't act while dead!

worldbuilding accepts that kind of thing though
@Zachiel true enough, obnoxiously, but there at least we can fall back on "things work like they do in reality unless otherwise noted," which we can't do here since people's real lives are not neatly divided into different sorts of actions
@Zachiel actually, going back to this, there's no issue with the way haste is worded when you can always take a full attack

@KRyan no, there is one. When you moved, you can't use haste.
Or when you intend to move
or to take a different move action

@kryan oh its definitely a great fit for worldbuilding
but definitely not our site

@Zachiel But that situation doesn't really apply to your question does it? You are talking about when you don't want to move but make a full attack when only having a single bab attack.

@JoshuaAslanSmith I'm not sure it should be, honestly; I've been kind of turned off from worldbuilding because of the extremely wishy-washy questions and answers
@Zachiel huh?

8:11 PM
@Kryan I sorta expected worldbuilding to go that path

I again do not know what you mean

but to me if theres an SE that is loose about content creation requests it should be that one

@JoshuaAslanSmith apparently a lot of people wanted worldbuilding as an excuse to post questions that history/physics/biology/etc. wouldn't accept
I seem to remember someone in here musing on how to incorporate loot into Fate and/or FAE
does anyone remember who was working on that and/or whether they ever came up with anything good?

I dont know if youve seen Sci-fi and fantasy in comparison where solid, easy to vote on Qs like book/movie identification are not allowed but rambling discussion style questions about say, why didn't aragorn use the army of the dead to defeat ALL of the forces of mordor

nevermind, found it

8:15 PM
@Kryan I can easily think of 2 ways

@JoshuaAslanSmith I've seen lots of identification questions on SF/F?

@KRyan Hmm Ive had really bad experience with them over that in the past
maybe they changed their guidelines

also, a lot of the bad rambling questions seem like fine questions but the answers should be "well, we don't know because they never said" but instead are "well, one could speculate that it could have been like this!"
but then, those answers are often more interesting
a lot of them are reasonably well backed-up, too
at least, relative to the overall endeavor

@KRyan True, its more a problem with the answers than the original question
Its just Ived had a very well sourced and reasoned argument of my own for that specific question get like no upvotes vs. someone who just talked out of their butt and made up a theory
turned me off to the site forever

@JoshuaAslanSmith mm, well I mean...
that's happened to me, here

8:18 PM
I did a class on tolkien, have written papers about him, I have collections of essays on his various works in addition to reading a lot of his stuff and his own essays
@kryan are you referring to some of the 5e stuff?
or something else in particular

@JoshuaAslanSmith no, mostly 3.5 stuff, since that's my forte

gotcha
I cant comment ont htat
as my 3.5 experience is completely limited

but there are a number of answers where the answer that people want to be correct is upvoted, while my answer indicating what the rules actually say is not, because people don't like those rules

and I also actively avoid that game, its related games, and the people who play those games

(and to be fair, the rules are often dumb)

8:20 PM
eyah thats a fine point

don't really agree, if you say "the rules say this" and they don't, I don't care how good an idea this is, it's still an incorrect answer
I have no issue with cases that are like "well, the rules don't say this, but I've found it more useful to run things like this"
that's an accurate answer that provides a useful contribution
+1

I agree that your answer in the best of all worlds would be the top upvoted answer

@KRyan Ah, I misinterpreted your sentence. Nevermind.

its a balancing act, Ive thought about if SE had weighted votes what that would mean, maybe if it was tied to both votes you'd earned within that tag and overall site rep
on the one had system experts could outweigh neophytes in terms of rewarding good answers and questions
but on the other hand its equally open to an abuse of power

@JoshuaAslanSmith ah, that... as much as I want my votes to have that kind of power sometimes, that idea strikes me as terrifying

or simply for subsets of users to run roughshod over a wider audience
yep

I think of one of my first answers here; it argued that d7 was wrong (and he was, both by a strict reading of the rules and by an FAQ entry that explicitly addressed the situation specifically)
considering he had the second-highest rep on the site, while I was brand-new

I can only imagine how that might have gone

I mean like, what if mxy, who while I disagree with often, I think has the sites best interest at heart, but not in my opinion 4e's could use his rep to influence 4e Qs and As
that could be catastrophic since his approach is very much counter to the widely accepted way to play and think about 4e's systems

(it still annoys me that he's the accepted answer on that question, since I know the querent accepted the answer because it looked authoritative, came from a high-rep user, and there wasn't, at the time, any one contradicting him)
(they presumably haven't looked at the question since)

I hate when newish users accept the first answer
almost as much as when they never return to accept my awesome answers

heh, the god-forsaken VoP question
with its accepted answer of -3

and the next answer with 27

Sometimes I relish the soul-cruching disparity when I get a super upvoted answer and the "best answer' has hardly any

@doppelgreener COFFEE SE BETA LIVESZ

So much snow

@DavidWilkins oh yeah, how did that turn out?

@KRyan its still going
I can barely see across the street

hah:
> Winter storms are not named. The Weather Channel assigns names to winter storms as part of a social media marketing campaign. When you mention "Juno," you're participating in the proliferation of Big Weather. Think before you hashtag.
> The only acceptable names for this storm are "Blizzard of 2015, "Thanks Obama," and "UGH."

Haha
Thanks obama

9:34 PM
the article does go on to refer to it as "Winter Storm Thanks Obama"
my family's from NYC, so until I just looked it up all I had was their report, which was that it missed them entirely
huh, makes this sort of similar to (the legitimately named) hurricane Irene

House across the street has snow drifts up to the windows
Ours is next to a field so most of it is getting blown away
Okcupid put up a profile for Juno...
"On a typical Friday night I'm: getting plowed"
