You can compare it to Thanksgiving Wednesday in the US which I think is the busiest time on public transport and on the roads in the US, isn't it?

Pour comprendre il faut savoir que les écoliers et étudiants français ont deux mois de vacances (grosso modo) et au moins la moitié des français (si c'est pas plus) partent en vacances en juillet ou en août. Et quand la fin juillet est en plus en fin de semaine, ça fait beaucoup de monde sur les routes.
