@Pandya seems good!

> I think depends on context and what is the other answer they have added besides these placeholders. Sometimes, they don't add exact verse number or chapter number but give story or own interpretation in the answer for the time being.
Aug 28, 2018 7:03 AM
@NogShine Below is the 1st para of your answer. Which part answers the question: "Are placeholder answers allowed?". The 1st sentence (highlighted part)?
Aug 26, 2018 6:33 AM
@NogShine your answer doesn't seem to have any stance. Do you approve or disapprove the concern in the question, is not clear. Why can't you edit the answer to make it clear. If you feel otherwise, then can you please paste that line here, which is answering the question. It will be easy to decide for Mods too. Cc: @Pandya, @TheDestroyer

The oldest reference possibly remains the painting named as "Bharat Mata" from Abindranath.
She could well be derivation of goddess Durga, due to Durga being representation of liberation (not necessarily Moksha) from evil forces. Hence, I would not term her as a "look a like" of goddess Durga.

(another such derivation / re-interpretation is "Shrinathji" which is considered the Baal-roop of lord Krishna)
Aug 21, 2018 7:45 AM
@Pandya I think, "Vande Mataram" doesn't specify "Bharat mata" as such. Later on it was interpreted that it had association with "Land of Bangla" or "Land of Bharat". I was not able to find the word "Bharat" in it.

> I recommend to add 1 more choice selection button, which reads something similar to "Banner needed for no source citation".
Nov 26, 2018 5:19 AM
@Pandya Actually the whole feature is desired. However, for now it will be fine for the partial implementation. Whatever, I stated above, is also covered in the question and answer both.
Nov 26, 2018 3:35 AM
(BTW, by "Most common reason", I meant -- people may not be flagging the other reasons more than "sources cited" reason for an answer specifically.)
Nov 26, 2018 3:33 AM
@Pandya No need to automate the task of Mods at this stage. Let the Mods handle it as they are doing. Only a flag option should be enough for now.
Nov 26, 2018 3:32 AM
@Pandya I think, if such flag is introduced, then number of flags would increase substantially. Because many people including me, feel discouraged to type "no sources cited".
Nov 26, 2018 3:31 AM
I understand that the full feature may not be viable option at this stage.
However, partial implementation should be easy. I mean, just introduce one more flag option such as "sources not cited" (like how we have "rude/spam", "not an answer", "in need of mod attention" etc.)

Q: If N users flag an answer for "source not cited", add the banner automatically

iammilindWhen an answer doesn't cite a source, below steps are followed: Users flag the answer to Moderator's attention; Moderator will add a banner to that answer, as suggested here: What kind of banners (notices) do we use? After few days, even if the answer doesn't provide source, then the Moderator ...

Nov 26, 2018 2:05 AM
@Pandya, @TheDestroyer, Can we have at least a flag reason for "sources not cited"? It's boilerplate work to every time type that. This is arguably the most common reason to flag an answer. This feature was already requested in below post; yet no response. Any update?
Nov 23, 2018 11:29 AM
thanks. It's tough initially.
I go for sleep by 9-9:30. Just lie down and wait for the sleep to come. Besides, I also try to sleep 20-30 in the afternoons (power naps)

@Pandya IMO, it's not needed. Doesn't add any value.
Nov 23, 2018 10:44 AM
IMO, "identification-request" is quite required. Also had put an answer supporting that tag.
But, "scriptural-reference" is not adding any value. I already opined on that proposed tag recently.
Nov 23, 2018 6:31 AM
@Pandya sure. Consider the flag at that time.
Nov 23, 2018 5:59 AM
@NogShine Which one? There are 2-3 question with recent activity.
Nov 23, 2018 5:58 AM
So up/down-votes don't matter here. The user has succeeded in bypassing the close votes by deleting and re-asking the same.

Hence I asked to merge them.
I hope you got the problem this time. I cannot explain all these in the flag, which was rejected.
Nov 23, 2018 5:57 AM
, it surprises me when you say this! :-)

-> Older Q1 was a duplicate of X; When it was about to be closed, the user deleted it
-> New Q2 is also a duplicate of X; Before it comes to anyone's notice; it was answered

Got it?
Nov 23, 2018 4:29 AM
; User had asked Q1. At least 3 votes were for the closure. May be to avoid "closure", the user deleted it and then user asked the Q2, with the similar content.
Had we merged them or Q2 to be made dupe of undeleted Q1, then those closed votes could have been retained and eventually would have got closed.
Now, we have to post close vote again on Q2 and other users have to do the same.

The user may have acted as such, out of ignorance, but if we know it happening, then why not merge them?
This was not about handling dowvotes alone, as you may have misunderstood it.
Nov 22, 2018 5:07 PM
@Pandya user got unnecessary downvotes unnecessary; hence I suggested to merge with original. Anything is fine

Q: I can't see an option to protect a question even though I have the privilege to do so

Mr. BoyI apparently now have the privilege to protect questions on SO, gained very recently. I can't see where the button is to do this and when I searched, I found explanation of what it means but not how I do it. For reference I was considering this question should be protected as it is about a funda...

Q: Jayadratha followed his duty by stopping Pãndavas during Mahãbhãrata war; Why did Arjuna harbor grudge against him?

iammilindAccording to the story, Jayadratha encashed a boon granted by Lord Shiva, where he can hold back all the Pãndavas except Arjuna for a whole day during war. Thus, during the 13th day of the war he became indirectly responsible as he stopped all Pãndavas (except Arjuna and Lord Krishna), when Abhim...

@Pandya, following question was not showing me the "protect" option. Hence, I had to flag. It's strange that even though it's 2 years old, it didn't show up.
Nov 16, 2018 12:06 PM
@Pandya IMO, it's not needed. Doesn't add any value.

Q: Can we add a citation banner for answers that rely solely on Wikipedia?

I know it's a small matter, but I just wanted to understand how Mods act in such scenario. Same thing applies to this wiki related question too:
Aug 26, 2018 6:48 AM
Anticipating such situation, I posted a main meta query: meta.stackexchange.com/q/314378/163449. Is there any policy change from Mods side.

Mods @TheDestroyer, @Pandya, it seems community is divided for below post. The OP has chosen an answer. Does that mean Mods have to follow, whatever is the accepted answer?

@TheLittleNaruto & @Pandya thanks!
Aug 24, 2018 12:29 PM
@Pandya OK .. but I couldn't that room at all. Do you have the link to that room?
Aug 23, 2018 12:05 PM
Hi @Pandya, there was a room created for the discussion between us. I am unable to find that. Can you ping me from that room?
Aug 19, 2018 10:19 AM
@NogShine yes. It was for Ankit post. We can discuss other things separately.
Aug 19, 2018 9:32 AM
@NogShine let's keep this discussion under your post to avoid drawing away attention from @AnkitSharma's question problem. Thx
Aug 19, 2018 7:12 AM
@AnkitSharma I never took any oath. I indeed have respect for you as you were a Mod and a fellow Bangaloren. I may not want to reply to trollers like Sudarshan. So what do you think of above?
Aug 19, 2018 7:09 AM
@AnkitSharma if your question is based on my Bharat Mata answer, then indeed it becomes closeable with Wiki as a reason of duplicate (I am yet to cast vote, if so). If your meta question is based on the Bharat Mata question then, there is no need of wiki. Isn't it? Cc: @Pandya, @Rickross, @NogShine, @TheDestroyer
Aug 18, 2018 2:27 PM
@Pandya is another comment on Wiki from sv. has to be retained there?
Aug 17, 2018 5:24 PM
@NogShine it's not dictating in anyways. Let's see what @Pandya has to say.
Aug 17, 2018 11:29 AM
@Pandya, how about this:
*"It's well know fact culturally that Indians should devote themselves to Bharat mata, irrespective of their caste, religion, etc."*
Aug 17, 2018 11:28 AM
@Pandya Other way is that you yourself edit the line in the way Keshav has written then it will become legitimate. Is that fine with you?

Sep 16, 2018 2:36 PM
so how can our own philosophical thinking be an answer? -- @Rickross, correct. That's why it's put as a comment. We can't find online sources to our own philosophy for obvious reasons.
Sep 16, 2018 2:36 PM
Personally to me & few others, answers as comments are fine, because as of now the answers without sources are prone to deletion. In philosophical thinking we cannot have sources all the times: Do we require to cite sources/scriptures in philosophical thinking?. So comments are the only way to safeguard one's thinking. Hence I have moved guilt part at bottom. Hope that is fine. :-)

Possible duplicate of What is the duration (Timeline) of the four "Yugas"?. BTW, Title of your question 'sounds' opinion based. Different interpretations are existing regarding the number as seen the dupe.
