@dpollitt It might be just a phase for me, but I find myself carrying my primes (mostly manual focus) more frequently than my zoom lenses. Partly because the zooms are so heavy, and partly because the primes are more fun.

3:09 AM
@Aarthi hey we like it :P thanks!
@EvanKrall oh yea, I am that way too. I carry an UWA, a 50mm and a 135mm, and that is it for my regular bag. I have other lenses but I leave them at home unless i know i will need them for something.
Alright, going to install a fresh copy of windows 8. If I never come back, it is because my computer is all messed up!

@EvanKrall And partly because primes just kick ass, take names, and skip the questions later in an all out clarity and sharpness shootout. ;-)
I carry my 50/1.4, 100/2.8 macro, and 100-400 whenever I carry multiple lenses.
I plan to replace the 100-400 with a 300mm f/2.8 L II IS soon, and add a TS-E 24mm for landscape work.
then my kit will probably usually be TS-E 24, EF 100 Macro, and 300 L II (w/TCs)
primes are definitely the place to be

That is one of the sharpest head-on BIF shots I've ever seen.

so even if I get a 430EX speedlite for indoor use, how do I use it effectively to not get harsh light?
bounce off the ceiling?

@Aaron THat's one way. Sounds like a good question for the site, really -- we've got some more specific ones, and the question for pop-up flashes but not the general question (that I found in a quick search).

6:28 PM
Ok, I'll add a question on the site, then

Hey, I'm new to photo.stackexchange and was wondering if someone could help me out with the following. When I set a custom white balance on my Nikon D7000 under d-0 it works fine and when I do it under any other d-x I get a very strong colour cast. Am I missing the point? Don't want to ask a proper question on this if there is a quick answer...

the photography room RSS feed gets all the new questions on the main site?

I have 430ex II and use it mostly with the white plastic diffuser pointing up, and at 1/64 strength.
