I'm not sure how this point system is working in tikz :s
I don't understand how the y coordinates of the graphs I'm plotting with \addplot [red!80!white, samples=30, domain=0:6,shift={(0,10)}] {e*exp(x)}; relate to the y coordinates used in something like \draw[decoration={random steps,segment length=3pt,amplitude=0.5pt},line join=round] (1.2679,5.5206)
Hell, I don't even know if the x coordinates are the same as what I want
How do people know the exact coordinates to place labels and stuff? How can I find that based from an equation of a plot?
I'm using the pgfplots package, and after I plot something

it always moves the line so it intercepts at 0,0, then I don't understand how it's scaling the y
for instance, when I do this: \addplot [red!80!white, samples=30, domain=0:6] {e^x};
it seems to immediately scale the y axis on the order of hundreds, but keep the units I would use for placing labels and stuff on the order of numerals
@Canageek @Qrrbrbirlbel OK, I got that now. Now how do I know where to place a label relative to a graph. EG: if I know the points on a graph, how do I convert that to the points I need to place a label?

I don't know why this question reminds me of the Italian word "obbrobrio" (disgrace, awful thing); the adjective "obbrobrioso" can be translated into "dreadful". :) Maybe the allitteration?

I can't seem to find a question on here that details the differences between inline and display math. The best I can find is egreg's answer for displaystyle, dfrac, dcases? Should we have a separate question that details the differences between the two?
@DavidCarlisle Yes getting into the different modes is one thing, but the fact that for example the where the indexes of summation, limits are placed is different, etc... I think there should be clear answer so that we can refer newer users to it. I guess \displaystyle, \textstyle, \scrtiptstyle, \scrtipscrtipstyle, etc are related.
@PeterGrill That's why I asked, limit placement and size of big operators is \\displaystyle verses \textstyle thing not related to inline or display math

@DavidCarlisle That's just around 100000 km/s, or 360000000 km/h: @MarcoDaniel can do it, but only on the Autobahn. They should have thought of this when they assigned the red to "stop" and green to "go".
@DavidCarlisle The speed limit in town is 50 km/h (~30 mi/h) and @MarcoDaniel is German. No chance to use that excuse. :) By the way, the needed speed is 223693629 mi/h, in case you didn't grasp the km/h.

But he looks for an intermediate level beginners guide. But then again, what is intermediate. Probably there are several areas where one is a beginner, but quite a few where they are "advanced" users... :)
Generalization of such questions can easily become a list of all possible manuals, in which case the dublicate @AndrewStacey pointed at is very sufficient!
