A: There is no index in the referenced table where the referenced columns appear as the first column

ypercubeᵀᴹYou need an index on the referencing table on ice_product_manuals (product_id). See: dbfiddle-1 The composite index you have cannot be used for the FK constraint for a peculiar reason. Normally, two (or more) column indexes can be used for FK constraints if the constraint is on the first column(s...

@PaulWhite yeah. I thought hashes would be involved from the first reading - and they were - but the details were interesting. It was not exactly what I expected.

sounds like a markdown problem
p sure @Zikato could fix it with some powershell
@Zikato is talented with powershell
these days @Zikato is synonymous with powershell
I usually just say @Zikato instead of 'powershell'
@Zikato has a much nicer ring to it

@Zikato Nopers.
Well, I've guessed it. You didn't specify that you want a correct guess
Just found an absolute gem in the MySQL docs:
> MySQL parses but ignores “inline REFERENCES specifications” (as defined in the SQL standard) where the references are defined as part of the column specification. MySQL accepts REFERENCES clauses only when specified as part of a separate FOREIGN KEY specification.

MySQL really is a toy database
Let's not disallow it in the syntax, just completely ignore it. Who thinks up these brainwaves?
8:55 PM
@Zikato Fair. Willing to Venmo you $5 if you can correctly figure it out in 5 guesses. 🙂
@Charlieface same people who prefer Java to C# 👀
Sorry any peoples who do. 🙃
@J.D. ?? Not very familiar with Java
Eh it's probably another spaces vs tabs debate. But I learned Java before I got into C#. After I got into C# I remember when Java 8? (maybe 7?) dropped, and 7 of the 10 highlighted features were already in C# for multiple years at that point.
I never felt a need to go back to Java since. But obviously it's still has it's fair use, and community backing, even in mobile dev these days.
So I'm just dropping my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
@J.D. No that would be more of a SQL Server vs Postgres comparison: almost peers but one always seems to be ahead. This is more of a QBasic vs VB comparison: it's just a toy DB, there is no way anyone should be using it for serious work.
> * Scalar UDF returns results in different date and time formats when the Scalar UDF Inlining feature is enabled (added in SQL Server 2022 CU3 and SQL Server 2019 CU20)
I'd love to see the repro, that sounds hilarious.
@Charlieface Fair. Didn't MySQL originate from some ex-Oracle Devs though?...kinda why I thought mentioning Java was topically relevant too.
@J.D. Yeah, have a laugh from one of the devs

Q: MySQL is giving weird result

SagarPPanchalI don't have this kind of ID in my table, still MySQL is giving me a result. This same result is giving when i place in my php code.

9:16 PM
@Charlieface heh I have read that before.
@J.D. Here's another:

Q: MySQL: Swap ID between two rows

SahasrarWe have existing table: | id | name | color | calories | ------------------------------------------ | 1 | apple | red | 20 | | 2 | orange | orange | 10 | | 3 | grapes | green | 5 | | 4 | bananas | yellow | 15 | | 5 | plum ...

@Charlieface hah I think I've seen that too actually. Good stuff...
So have I, but every time I see them again it makes me fall about laughing. This is basic bugs and mis-features all over the place.
In contrast, PostgreSQL actually seems like a pretty solid open source database system. And I don't particularly like to give complements to open source software lol.

Also interesting that the Venn of PHP and MySQL users very closely correlates: guess they suit the same type of coders.
9:19 PM
@Charlieface Lol true
I remember when I used PHP...back when I was 11.
Sorry any PHP devs in here...
Also, WordPress is just a mess too, speaking of PHP...

@J.D. not really
MySQL was bought by Sun, then Sun by Oracle.
