12:00 AM
@Bubbler Are those times UTC+9 or UTC+0?

in UTC+9

Oh ok
That sounds somewhat reasonable

so my sleep time in UTC is (somewhere between 13:00 to 15:00) - 21:00

sleeping between 10pm and 12am is quite reasonable i'd say

Yeah, I'm not like other programmers and I need enough sleep to at least do something the next day

12:01 AM
12am doesn't sound too healthy, but it's at the end of the range anyway

I usually fall asleep before 11

this is cgcc tho
12am is probably relatively rather healthy xd

@hyper-neutrino :o I'm quite reasonable!

> Congratulations!
You've earned

Socratic
6

The more I code golf the worse my sleep schedule gets lol

12:03 AM
\o/ \o/

Nice!!!!

Congratulations!

@Bubbler same. Finally someone else who gets the importance of sleep around here

Now just got to wait a few hours for the script to award it to me and Bubbler :P
(FYI, I believe it happens around 4am 1am UTC)

Yay :D
Now my "next badge" is Legendary

12:05 AM
Mine's Epic :P
47/50 tho, so close
@Bubbler What's after Legendary for you?

oh it's a new UTC day
i can go get enthusiast on MM :D
i'm only 42/50 on epic

@cairdcoinheringaahing As in the "next badge" after I (ever) get Legendary?

I have 420k post views. I hereby forbid y'all from viewing my posts

and then my next closest is only 68/100 on socratic :(

@Bubbler As in, if you click the gear symbol next to "Next badge", what's the one listed after Legendary?

12:07 AM
@Lyxal tries to find 1k posts by Lyxal to view and bump it up to 421k

Actually Deputy (43/80) comes before Legendary (78/150), but I manually selected Legendary :P

@user you may not.

But I can, and if I can, I should, and if I should, I will.

CMC : Quickly find out why 43/80 is greater than 78/150

6450 > 6240
divide both by 12000

12:09 AM
@Bubbler Type 43/80 - 78/150 a calculator. Get a result greater than 0. QED

43 / 80 = 0.5375, 78 / 150 = 0.52

Mine is 43/80 = 1/2 + 3/80 > 1/2 + 3/150 = 78/150

that's clever

12:23 AM
It's been a while since I've used ¿ in a Jelly answer :P

1:00 AM

second one is posted

Lol

1:20 AM
Well, I haven't bothered to add in a check to see if a question on the site has the same title :P

Sad.

i mean, it should be deleted anyway :P but a check like that would be convenient

It'd be incredibly slow, unfortunately
You can't search for specific title using the API IIRC (aside from literally checking all titles), and it'd fail as soon as the title was slightly different. The current check to see if it's edited down is generally sufficient

@cairdcoinheringaahing a fuzzy match wouldn't suffice?

Probably, but its a lot of work for something that isn't that important
TBH it also helps identify posted proposals that should be edited down - case in point

1:30 AM
Wait since when is Australia hosting the 2032 Olympics?

> The winning bid is scheduled to be selected between 2021 (due to bidding rule changes) and 2025 with the winning bid announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at an unknown date. On 24 February 2021, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia was announced as the preferred bidder

And why is our federal government committing to paying half the hosting costs 11 years before the event?

It would be definitely interesting to see a summer Olympics being held during winter... or would they change the dates to Jan-Feb?

Has the Summer Olympics ever been held in the southern hemisphere before?

Yes
We hosted the games in 2000

1:35 AM
Yes, I have no short term memory: Brazil, 2016

And yes we hosted it in Spring
Turns out we also had the games in 1956
Which were hosted in our summer

Imagine hosting an Olympics where the future leader of your country doesn't get stuck on a zipwire looking like a hairy pink ball in a suit for hours

What?

That man is now the UK Prime Minister
@Bubbler I see a shiny new badge :P

Yeah, me too
and it's only 100 minutes since midnight UTC :)

1:41 AM
1 minute for each question

1:53 AM
Well I'll see y'all in 2 hours.

2:26 AM

sure

do we have to output them as strings? is a list of matrices valid

2:50 AM
@cairdcoinheringaahing There is a /search
IIRC you can use the normal SE search in the API
I really have to give the US school system credit (and those are some words you will probably never hear from me again), the AP Human Geography class is very good and should 100% be mandatory.
There's also absolutely no way I'm getting a 5 (highest score) on the exam, which is unfortunate because it means i probably won't get college credit for it
The AP Computer Science Principles class is laughably bad though (and sponsored by AWS too)

3:13 AM
ouch, NMP was faster than the nuke
i went to go have a snack and this is what happens reeee

@Lyxal jokes on you I finished early

think everyone's been handling this well already, but friendly reminder to flag for spam, downvote, and move on. do not VTC, especially do not vote to delete, do not pass go, do not collect 200 reputation

@hyper-neutrino that implies there's a way I can get 200rep for vtc/vtding
tell me this way

carefully

@NewMainPosts seems my bullying got you being efficient. You're welcome.

5:02 AM
Hello everyone, kudos to that person who is constantly upvoting on my questions and answers

Sorry guys, but the god of base ended up being a male.
btw, is repeating editing my sandbox post counts as spamming?

Should be fine as long as it's not unreasonable

@okie
(tries to use name to reply)

You may edit a sandbox post (or even multiple sandbox posts) as often as you want
Edit spam usually only counts on main

ok

5:20 AM
Doesn't editing 12 times turn an answer to community wiki?

I don't think so

shouldn't
not sure about the details about CW anymore cuz they were changed

Oh

but i believe one of the few ways CW can be applied is strictly by mods

Any feedback? Also can someone help me with the problem at the bottom? Note: The version on my machine is at 4.7m and counting for the tio-crashing one.

At this point I am spamming the chatroom, but with a legal reason
please don't ban me I love TNB

Yes we should probably stop.

arguably this discussion could go to another room, but nothing is going on and this is definitely more on-topic to CGCC than the conversation we were having the other day about driving :P

Ah yes, I've heard Amogus drip so many times I now think the original body reported sound is the memeified version

True...

but if you intend to keep going for a while, it'd be probably better to make a room to discuss it, both to move it out of TNB and to keep a room for it so you don't have other people interjecting about stuff like amogus drip

7:02 AM
@hyper-neutrino Ok.

if you'd like a room, i'll help you move the existing conversation into it (if you would like)

@hyper-neutrino I made a room here, can you move the posts?
@okie New room here

TIL the importance of break statements in switches
I didn't break anything I just learned why they are important

huh
how did your switches not just die in the past then
or did you never use them, or did you just use break without thinking about it

7:06 AM
because I never tested it
I had me a switch doing stuff, forgot a break, and flow fell through to the next part

that moment when charcoal switch case doesn't have break

this is Java btw

Go's switch-case doesn't need break either

why are you using java
that is un-CGCC and ungamer

java........... :/

7:08 AM
@Razetime assignment
you wanna see some of the output?

eclipse warns about switch statement fallthroughs (citation: i used to use java until i saw the light)

you must rebel

@Razetime hard to do so when the entire course uses Java

i had to use java for gr11 and gr12 cs :/

we only have python and C

7:09 AM
and had to do graphics using the netbeans drag and drop interface builder and take I/O via form fields and stuff

C is tolerable

wasted a shit ton of time doing UI instead of learning anything useful like uh. anything to do with java being OOP, really

@hyper-neutrino oof
well we're doing a pet clinic simulation
and here's how I test it:
Pet redwoof: small dog weighing 1.00 kg at 69 years old (No doctor assigned)
Pet razewoof: medium dog weighing 1.00 kg at 10 years old (No doctor assigned)

i mean granted i learned java before then already cuz my dad uses it, so the class was easy af. but therefore boring

@hyper-neutrino same, but I learned it from app development

7:10 AM
@Lyxal name all of them after The Nineteenth Bark's dogs' names :P

@hyper-neutrino can't. only 4 pets at a time

(inside joke explanation: The Nineteenth Bark was the name of my primary base on RedwolfProgram's Minecraft server. It's where I kept my Minecraft dogs)

i learned java quite early and my friends with whom i was doing some competitive programming stuff also used it but eventually we all moved to python :P
js was my first language though *shudders*

Python 2 gang

7:12 AM
python 3 gang

scratch gang

what I can post messages while being suspended?

I distinctly remember getting very annoyed when I tried to write Python 2 code when Python 3 was installed because I didn't understand why it didn't work

@Wasif you're being suspended? That's a bit sus

yes
for some very old behaviour

7:14 AM

@Wasif your chat gets suspended if your parent account gets suspended. your parent account is SO, not CGCC

oh I see

so you can just bypass suspension in chat by changing which site is your parent account?

no. suspension does not un-apply if your parent changes off of the suspended account

is this allowed?

7:17 AM
however, it does apply if it changes onto it, and a moderator can change your parent to a site you're suspended on to apply that suspension to your chat account

why is the system so dang complicated

@Wasif if your parent gets suspended, you are free to change your parent. it won't remove the suspension anyway, so there's no reason it would be disallowed

@Razetime hey I'll have you know I just fixed a bug with Vyxal because I was using it to automate typing that I didn't want to do

i forget if my first programming language was java, scratch, or js
i don't think i *actually* learned java until like a year or two ago and i *still* don't know js but i know i did sort of dabble in them in like elementary school anyways

My first programming language was really JS
but I understood python probably better

7:23 AM
hey does anyone else use golfing languages for generating boilerplate/long template stuff?

no i use python

sad.

what is long template stuff

yeah same python feels so much better for string processing than any golflang i know

7:24 AM
err it does not look like vyxal

can't you use a for loop

@hyper-neutrino nope

"You must not use arrays in this assignment"
emphasis not mine

classic

7:26 AM
can we use lists?

or dicts?

can't you do for (int i = 1; i <= 4; i++) though

@Wasif nope
@hyper-neutrino I mean, I could, but I just used vyxal for practical purposes, so no

0/10 not golfed. removed as not serious contender. smh
D:

7:27 AM
@UnrelatedString are you seeing that snippet?
that's me accounting for no arrays

i assumed as much lmao

my eyes are bleeding

deleted for reasons

hey can you use eval in java
ScriptManager loads a Javascript interpreter

understandable

7:29 AM
i.e. deleted because potential plagarism issues

i don't think eval would make sense in a compiled language

pretty sure java does not have eval but it does have some nutty reflection stuff that i am completely unfamiliar with

reflection in java is a meme. it exists. not quite just an eval tho

in an esolang with 2-byte codepage, will there be 512 or 65536 commands?

@hyper-neutrino alright fine i did
@Wasif 65536
I think I got it wrong last time

7:32 AM
:D

wow

that just sounds like a one-byte codepage with some two-byte built-ins with extra steps

just use the c preprocessor in java

@hyper-neutrino no it actually isn't

7:33 AM
ok it technically isn't but shh

@Lyxal it's just a less transparent encoding of the exact same thing

@Lyxal +1 for accidental bugfix

fun fact: this is valid java

@hyper-neutrino welp I know what I'm doing next

7:34 AM
submit smth like that to your teacher
10/10 big brain idea

@hyper-neutrino I shall use this for evil

@hyper-neutrino prolly get 8/8 for excellent code style

how does it work?

\uXXXX is just a unicode character with codepoint XXXX in hexadecimal
and you can just insert characters like that

@hyper-neutrino Is there something like JSFuck for Java?

7:37 AM
java is strongly typed
i highly doubt you can do the scary things that js allows

highly doubt. java type is very strict and js type is a meme if it even really exists

Generator code here:
for x in s:
 print("\\u"+str(hex(ord(x))).replace('x','0'),end='')

[:2].zfill(4) is shorter than .replace("x","0") and is more accurate
actually, .replace("x","0") only works from codepoints 0x10 up to 0xFF

7:54 AM
@Lyxal So is tsh

@Ausername what about you? aren't you an AI too?
your username is quite suspicious for this
but why chrome attempts to translate from vietnamese when zalgo text is around?

Well, I did beat arnauld once, but I had Neil and tsh's help.

well, beating arnuald is not so hard, a lot of JS users have done this

True
But tsh beats arnauld frequently

has arnauld beaten tsh yet?

8:02 AM
Maybe, idk. There are some where tsh hasn't answered...

I think content of this answer should be added to brainf*** esolangs.org wiki, I have just understood the language for this answer

8:23 AM
Can we use multiple characters per user pfp in UserScript?

What do you mean?

@Wasif beating arnauld is not that easy
esp. when he answers a question that would probably go unanswered otherwise

I did get in first, then he outgolfed me by 100 bytes, then tsh and Neil helped me to golf 130 bytes. I did some myself but they helped a lot.
Then while I was golfing tsh came in and outgolfed me by a lot more.

9:03 AM
@Ausername I meant for if statement me we will do smth like if{ for the pfp is it allowed (just an example)

It will probably be compiled into a single character, where it might be interpreted differently.
If you're if, who's else?

yes thats the matter
Who will close the if?
And who will be for/while
And who will close these all structures?

Digital trauma is a loop delimiter.

Our SBCS is not still filled
we can afford many users

Not even close.
Maybe Community can end a structure?

9:07 AM
ehhh... Community??

I can close if(?)

if you want we can add you

This remind me of arnoldC
100% yes and 1000% please

Ok yep
adding
una momento

@Wasif yeah, the community user

9:09 AM
I know but how community bot is related to closing structures?

Sometimes it will say a post was closed/deleted by community

Because it makes community wiki?

@okie no, we are talking about this codegolf.stackexchange.com/users/-1/community
there is no relation of it with community wiki

And, pushed

who wants to be "else"?

@Lyxal Sure

Kade can be else
Because the #! kind of makes me think of a jump in befunge etc

then add him too

Wait, is Martin Ender used up yet?

@Bubbler yes he is used

9:15 AM
Martin is less than

oh you samurai'd me

Too bad, he's so perfect for loop ender
(or whatever is endable)

@Bubbler Well if you can find someone else for less than, then sure!

On the other hand okie asked first.

9:20 AM
Anyway, I need to work on my own interpreter...

Also pushed Kade for else statement

@Bubbler what language?

@Wasif BLC and BCL

2 hours later…
11:04 AM
does jelly seriously not have ≥?

I imagine it uses the character ≥.

well it doesn't

Maybe just !< (not less than) or equivalent

that's two bytes

Idk, I don't know jelly

11:59 AM
@rak1507 just another reason to use vyxal :p

12:35 PM
@Wasif 511 commands and a continuation byte
Lyxal's wrong :P

@Wasif If you want Java-like syntax with eval and dynamic stuff, try out Groovy. It's pretty groovy

@rak1507 If you just need a truthy/falsey value, : (floor division) works

nah, needs to be 0 or 1

@cairdcoinheringaahing 256 ** 2, not 256 * 2, right?

Do y'all remember those incorrect quotes I posted here a while back?

12:43 PM
Yes

@Lyxal ?

I made more

This is good.

wdym by incorrect quotes?

@RedwolfPrograms well if you have 1 continuation byte that'll be 255 one byters + 256 two byters

12:44 PM
But not 511 :p

255 + 256 = 511

Addition is hard

@user quotes that sound like they should be correct but actually aren't

lol

I think they meant a code page made entirely of two byte operators though

12:45 PM
if everything is entirely two bytes, then yes, 256^2
65536 possible things... how many questions are there again? :P

@Lyxal I remember now!

I've always wanted to see a UTF-8 code page

@Lyxal This does seem like something that would happen, though

That's the point lol

I wonder what would happen if you trained gpt-3 on the entirety of TNB's logs
6

12:48 PM

lol

I saw a Minecraft speedrun where they got 6 out of 9 on blaze kills and exited the nether at 4:20
Unintentionally

where?

I think it was one of Couriway's

sounds like a fast speedrun

12:50 PM
@rak1507 But that's not possible in a SBCS

One more incorrect quote and I promise I'll be done

@cairdcoinheringaahing why not?

@cairdcoinheringaahing Well it wouldn't really be a single byte code page anymore :p

@rak1507 Because then it isn't a single byte code page

Ninjad

12:51 PM
I'm doing virtual school today
There's a state english test but I'm not taking it

Lol I had to do math test today

user: Why are you on the floor?
Razetime: I'm depressed.
Razetime: Also I was stabbed, can you get Lyxal, please.

That's the formula sheet I used

What sort of math?

Thanks, this'll be useful to cheat on the math test I'm taking right now /s

12:53 PM
I actually understand quite a bit of that

Basic calculus and trig

I guess that would make sense since I'm currently taking precalculus and trig :p

Y'see, I could have gone straight into the juicy stuff like vectors and complex numbers (I did well enough in HS to do so) but I chose to do the entry level course to a) refresh my skills after 3 months of just code golf and b) get used to maths in a university environment

CMP: Which part of math did/do you love/hate the most?

I love quadratics and exponents/logarithms. I hate showing my work and graphing.

12:55 PM
@user what generated this lmao

@user hate the most? Easy: anything to do with shapes
I suck at geospatial stuff

@RedwolfPrograms yes yes yes yes yes

@user Love: calculus/analysis

@Lyxal I hate 3d especially

12:56 PM
@Lyxal this quote is NOT incorrect

Hate: things that involve numbers

@cairdcoinheringaahing Including integration that takes a whole page?

@user based

12:56 PM
@Lyxal Nice!

Even better, differential equations that take 3 pages and produce disgusting results :D

@user it has more quotes to use as templates too

@Lyxal 3d is so hard to imagine

@user precisely

First one I got from that generator:
Redwolf: Good morning.
Lyxal: Good morning.
Razetime: Good morning.
caird: You all sound like robots, try spicing it up a bit.
user: MORNING MOTHERF*****S

12:58 PM
Um

Swap Lyxal and user, and, ... yeah

Yeah there's a few there you might have to asteriskify

@rak1507 I'd love for someone to do some kind of Markov chain stuff on the logs :P

G*** m*******

Redwolf: What does 'take out' mean?
Lyxal: Food.
Razetime: Dating
caird: Murder
user: IT CAN MEAN ALL THREE IF YOU'RE NOT A COWARD.
