TFW you get ninja'd and they outgolfed you by 38 bytes

Q: Did I die or not?

caird coinheringaahingGiven a permutation of the alphabet and an intended "word", determine if the word was guessed in a game of Hangman, where the permutation is the list of guesses. For example, given ASTNORDYUVKFMCLWIHEBQGPJXZ as the permutation, and ASTRONAUT as the word, we know that the word was guessed. Only 2 ...

@RedwolfPrograms Imagine getting outgolfed by multiple digit numbers. made by the golfing lang gang :P

Arnauld is overpowered, hopefully that gets fixed in the next update
5

Arnauld is clearly running JS on Dennis' software

We've already established that Arnauld is a JavaScript writing AI
How don't you know this?
@RedwolfPrograms it's not going to get fixed. It's his source code which uses machine learning that allows him to ninja you

12:45 AM
I was just finishing the test cases too :(

That was your mistake :P
Golfing first, test cases second :P

Well, you can always choose a language you know you won't get ninja'd
Choosing JS is the worst choice in that sense

@Bubbler ninjad

JS is the only practical language I know well enough to golf in though :/

Well maybe if you, I dont know, hurried up and actually implemented your language you wouldn't have this problem
⌍P

12:48 AM
Yeah yeah I'm making progress :p

Not enough obviously

My to-do list is almost empty actually
I'm going to make an online interpreter for n_7 though, since the dictionaries are going to require separate JS files, so that'll be the main thing I do tomorrow.

Autocomplete must be questioning my meme taste rn: as soon as I enter the letters am, it suggests amogus

Then I'll release n_7, and after that I'll spend somewhere between two and four weeks adding two byte operators, making small changes for consistency and golfiness, documenting things, and fixing bugs. After that it's final release.
Expect Ash to be in a semi-usable state (n_7) within two days.

Hmm
This is appeasing enough that you won't be sacrificed today

12:54 AM
That's good, I dislike being sacrificed

it's fun, you should try it out sometime

Someone has to appease the amogus
And it ain't me

> Implement Minecraft

1:01 AM
> Implement Minceraft
FTFY

dammit i spelled it correctly (incorrectly)

(correctly)
You did corretly incorrectly spell it correctly
That was incorrect though

@OldSandboxPosts @Lyxal strongly recommend requiring the input to be the days names

you incorrectly spelled correctly when trying to correctly tell me that i incorrectly spelled it correctly (this is getting out of hand)

@cairdcoinheringaahing wait that was a week ago?
Holy frick

1:03 AM
Feb 28 at 1:17, by caird coinheringaahing
idk the physics behind it, but time has been on some hardcore drugs for the past 18 months

Aw, you ruined it :(
I like the nested quotes

That might be one of the most cited messages in a while :P

CMQ: do you write useful edit messages when editing SE posts

No

I've started to

1:07 AM
i usually do on other people's posts but almost never my own (it's usually just a golf, or adding an explanation, anyway)

I've got some extra raw chicken, but not enough to do anything with. Should I make chicken sushi?

@hyper-neutrino No, my edits are usually pretty obvious about what they edit

@RedwolfPrograms brilliant idea

@RedwolfPrograms Speaking on behalf of your cats, I have an excellent idea :P

lol the votes on the RO election thread changed. i was hoping nobody would notice that i unlocked it but uh. it's kind of STILL FEATURED
thanks SE
very cool

1:09 AM
@hyper-neutrino you're not supposed to add golfs or explanations

I tossed a small, thin piece of chicken into a hot pan and it shrank to half size almost instantly lol

@cairdcoinheringaahing okay I've done the edit

@hyper-neutrino Go lock it and wait a bit :P

@Lyxal On their own posts

if i lock it it's gonna stay featured again and then i'll have to unlock it and then reeeee

1:10 AM
Oh
@hyper-neutrino just wait till you die
You'll come back and it'll be fixed
Ez

i could've just not locked it in the first place but i wanted to freeze the votes until i actually granted the access
@Lyxal i tried that already

@hyper-neutrino so try again
We'll wait.

i have a 3 day cooldown on dying though

Dang
That sucks

@Lyxal poises finger over FGITW button

I'll take that as I should post to main

this is just gonna be who can press E faster

Yeah, looks clear enough

@hyper-neutrino sike you thought

1:42 AM
@Lyxal Clever :P

I like that idea

nice

would it be too much of a stretch to output 1 for truthy and >=2 for falsy lol

no
I don't think so

nice
7 bytes in proton then xddd
i see this gives jelly an easy 2b as well lmao

1:46 AM
Yep :P

@hyper-neutrino I mean, it's pretty reasonable, so why should I say no?

/shrug/ idk

This is the second day in a row that I've hit +70 before 2am UTC

i hit like +130 yesterday at 2am lmao
10 hours? aw i'll be asleep then :(
unless...

1:49 AM
depends if i'm close to repcapping by that time
if I'm close to +200 it ain't being posted until tomorrow

@Lyxal Suggestion: only post one per day, to get Curious/Inquisitive/Socratic

guess who isn't posting anymore for a while?
I have 69 posts under that tag
nice.

@Lyxal I am still posting, i have nearly ~73 score in that tag

Hey @Wasif did you know the online Vyxal interpreter has a post generator?

I figured it wouldn't be fair/whatever to post 3 2 byte answers in Jelly, 05AB1E and Husk that all just do len(unique(x)), so I grouped them into one answer

1:54 AM
@cairdcoinheringaahing I saw that, and I like that idea

@Lyxal no
@cairdcoinheringaahing then if it isn't fair then you can use python eval atom

@Wasif Nah, by "unfair" I meant that I could post 3/4 answers for each language and get multiple upvotes from each. I don't exactly need the rep, so I figured it'd be better to just collect those answers into one post
The submissions themselves are fine, it was more about the behaviour I could've done
@Lyxal You're gonna get ratio'ed hard on this challenge :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing ratio'd?

3 votes, 6 answers, 8 views
That's a hell of a ratio to have :P

just tell me, is that good or bad because I don't really know

2:03 AM
I typically aim for a high score and views with a low answer count
Generally, if the answer count is much higher than the score, then it's a trivial challenge

mfw answer votes are +2 for everything except mine, even tho lyxal and i are the only ones who wrote the language we're using :P
should've just fgitw'd in python lol

@hyper-neutrino Get nae-nae'd :P

Well, is the RO tool testing room still running?

Yeah, go wild

I would if it wasn't in a fricking 16+ hour timeout

2:07 AM
What timeout
RO's can talk still in timeout

ROs are exempt from timeouts

Ninja'd!

oh yeah i think user did that

you can't tell me that isn't in timeout
yes, I can't crop
and yes I'll go charge my computer

0/10 no freehand red circle around the timeout message

2:09 AM
The giant timeout countdown :P

@Lyxal i made you an RO now you can talk
And take revenge :P

Q: Are All the Items the Same?

LyxalGiven a list of positive integers, return whether or not that list is all the same number. Can there be an infinite timeout?

max is 1 day
though freezing a room is a toggle so it can be infinite

I see

2:29 AM
> ...makes a serious effort towards optimizing the submission's score within the chosen language(s) and other choices (such as algorithm choice or optional restrictions/bonuses taken).
My favorite part of the serious contender rule
This makes it justifiable under the rules to post interesting solutions, where a ton of work was obviously put in, where there's a shorter but potentially much slower or more cheaty approach

Agreed

3:12:25 lol. oof

With a downvote too
That's the result of some of the same people answering more than once

@hyper-neutrino Oops
I can’t cancel it now because I’m not an RO there anymore

Frick the room has been frozen by Lyxal, but I expected the number 69420 to pop up
At start

Q: Participant number

WasifA math Olympiad will be held, and participants are being registered. The highest number of participants is 100. Each participant is given an ID number. It is given in a sequence like \$100, 97, 94, 91, 88, ...., 1\$, and when the first sequence is over, then \$99, 96, 93, 90, 87, ...., 3\$ sequen...

@NewMainPosts 27 minutes

New record for it
I hope it will delay 69 minutes or 420 seconds some day in future

@Wasif not frozen, but transferred to sole control by me
It's a dictatorship now
Aaaand I'm trapped in here again
Wonderful

What trap

The nineteenth byte
I'll accidentally open it in all my open tabs on mobile and then have to enter a different url to escape

3:06 AM
“accidentally“

Because I forget that I have it open in my other tab, I open it in my current tab. Then when I try to switch, it takes me to the same place

Hey are you too lazy to type a new link

@user it's totally not due to a somewhat addictive reliance on code golf for entertainment

That sounds no trap

@Wasif okay here's a screenshot
Both tabs are the nineteenth byte
It's because I have here and main both open at once
And then I forget that I have TNB open so I open it from the tab with code golf main

3:10 AM
Laughs in "Open in a new tab"

That's what I have to end up doing

Use the + button

It's more that when it happens I have nowhere else to go except here or a new tab
@Wasif that's what I end up doing
The point is that y'all've completely missed the point

Don’t do drugs golf, kids
Finally
Why are strike throughs so hard on mobile?

they aren't

3:18 AM
It turns two dashes into —

Lol

—-Time to make my own OS—-

Oof

if you do - - - and then delete the spaces does it work

what?

3:20 AM
Yeah that’s what I did but it’s annoying

@hyper-neutrino as shown, yes

As a golfer the whole point of my life is typing as little as possible

My keyboard doesn't put spaces between dashes

in that case i suggest golfing ---x--- to x /s; for most values of x, it evaluates to a similar result

Good idea

3:22 AM
That's cheating /s

Time for Tips for Golfing Typing on Various Devices /s

type in mandarin

Next thing you know they'll add keyboard flags
⌍P

@hyper-neutrino Idk the script

most keyboards' prediction nowadays is op; sometimes i'll see my mom press like two keys and it'll autofill three characters that she wants even though she only typed the consonants for two of them

3:23 AM
And how do I count autocomplete taps?

unfortunately i cannot read/write it either :c

Does Mandarin have an SVCS or would I need to use Unicode?

you would need unicode

JMCS ftw

:(

3:25 AM
Single Vyte Coding System?

mandarin has at least 3000 characters for everyday usage

@user single vyxal character set?

@hyper-neutrino That’s way too many to remember for me

i'm honestly really surprised the new challenge (the equality thing) isn't a duplicate, lmao.

@hyper-neutrino caird couldn't find a dupe either

3:26 AM
@Bubbler No, guess again. You have two tries left :p

I won't then

Lol

Ok ok I’ll reveal what it means: Smart Vay to Count Stuff

Okay dracula from sesame street
4

1, ha ha ha
2, ha ha ha
3, ha ha ha

3:30 AM
The first thing that was a good app and it would have to have the app for the app and I have no clue how it would work out the way that it is on my iPhone or iPhone to play with my iPad or iPad to use the iPad version of my iPad

3 is the number of the day!

^ It’s surprisingly coherent (I just hit the middle suggestion repeatedly)

The first two years have a good night of fun at work on Saturday and I'll try and make sure to have the time and space for your wedding ceremony at a wedding party and wedding day of your ceremony in Sydney on your own life and work in an open environment for all people
@user I see your stuff and raise you a wedding

We're in the final hours of funny number day over here
:(

finally
just 30m left for me

3:31 AM
Sad
But not really

4-20 haha
That's for the EST people

@Lyxal How does your autocomplete have a wedding so many times?

don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. or don't.

@user Idfk it just does

Lyxal got married and is having kids, that's why they make so many dad jokes

3:32 AM
@hyper-neutrino I'm smiling because it happened

Lyxal Exposed as Wedding Caterer

It all makes sense

@RedwolfPrograms not my wedding ceremony sorry
@user oh frick.

wedding ceremony but it's undertale music

Congratulations on becoming a Dad, Lyxal

3:34 AM
@user so I'm 42 now am I?

I hope you rickroll your kids as they’re born

I think I'll dab on them first
Ðäb
That's how it tried to autocomplete

@Lyxal Don’t overestimate yourself; you’re not the answer to life, the universe and everything
late and unnecessary /s

@user it should have read as 42.0
which is arguably funnier

3:50 AM
can someone explain this regex to me
namely, why does the first one match even though the - doesn't have a - before it
and if it's due to the ?= group
why the second one then doesn't match properly

?= is a look-forward

what's the appropriate way of matching the - before \d+ if and only if it's preceded by another - without consuming both - in the process?
i.e. i cannot do ((-)-)?\d+ because then findall will group the first - with this as well

You mean, match the second - in --123?

(?=-)-\d+ checks that, at a certain position, the next char is - and also the pattern coming is -\d+, which simply checks the existence of - twice
(?=--)-\d+ checks that the next two chars are - and also the pattern coming is -\d+, which is simply false

3:58 AM
oh, I see

I think what you want is (?<=-)-\d+

that's a look-behind i'm assuming? (or whatever the appropriate name is)

At the current position, the char before that position is - and the next incoming pattern is -\d+
Yeah, it's called lookbehind

ohh. okay. thank you very much :D

(regex101 is your friend whenever you have regex questions, especially "why this regex works like that")

4:02 AM
oh nice. this is very helpful :p

@Neil pinging you since you will probably solve this

My newest challenge is inspired by caird :p

ah yes mathjax edits :P

@RedwolfPrograms and there's an issue with your testcases

4:12 AM
good

I'd had it as x⁴⁰ first but changed it to make the numbers used more diverse

why are superscript numbers not consecutive in unicode
this is so dumb

The first few were added way before the others I think
Lemme check

2 and 3 came first, and then the rest as a group IIRC

I think ¹ came with ² and ³

4:17 AM
Yeah, but not consecutively :/
2 and 3 are 0xb2 and 0xb3, but 1 is 0xb9
and the rest are at 0x2070+offset

¹²³ are the only ones that look nice in monospaced font on my laptop
The rest are too high up, and thinner than normal

Because the three are included in Latin-1 and have much better font support than the ones far away in Unicode
You're basically seeing font replacements for missing glyphs

yeah
stupid fonts, being designed for humans instead of code golfers >:|

okay so i am trying to implement an AST parser + evaluator for a relatively simple syntax (+ - * /, integers, brackets)
but in one line of python
i'm beginning to think this wasn't a smart idea
oh also order of operations is variable :D

4:29 AM
The first sub 10:00 Minecraft speedrun (1.16+ RSG) has happened. This is insane.

Q: Convert superscripts to MathJax

Redwolf ProgramsCGCC hasn't always had MathJax. Back in the dark ages, it would have been necessary to write \$x^2\$ as x² (the horror!). In this challenge, you will be given some math which may include superscripts, and you should convert it to MathJax. Input: Input will consist of one or more letters a to z, s...

It's kind of controversial though because a ton of pausing was done in order to think and load chunks
It used the new divine travel strat too :o

@NewMainPosts @UnrelatedString post using brachylog superscripts, quick

He blinded into the stronghold too :o
right next to the portal room

@RedwolfPrograms like, till enderdragon?
any%?

4:39 AM
Random Seed Glitchless, time they enter the portal after defeating the dragon

@Razetime I would say "shame there's no string constant for them" but Husk doesn't have one either so

@UnrelatedString lol only brachylog and Husk have em as 1 byte
afaik

Jelly has all of them except lmao

ah yeah lmao
i mistook the degree symbol for 0

doesn't help that it's right next to ¹² in the bookmarklet

4:48 AM
lol why does simply writing "⁰¹²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹" give `iconv: illegal input sequence at position 1
` in Pyth ;-;

Seriously, duolingo updated one of the lessons right as I was doing it so I didn't get credit for it

imagine using duolingo
