LibreOffice 3.6 has been released, the fourth major release of the office suite thus far. The new major release bundles in a ton of new features and bug fixes, making the office suite better than ever before. One particular feature that I am liking is the word count being readily accessible from the status bar. … Continue reading »

One of the best things WordPress does is make your information a li’l more organized, which ain’t a bad thing and WordPress doing it well isn’t surprising ’cause it’s a Content Management System (CMS).  Now with some creativity, and a few freely available plugins (or you creating your own plugins), you could use WordPress for … Continue reading »

The popular GNOME customization tool gnome-tweak-tool has gotten some changes in 12.10. Some of the changes are minor like a new icon that differentiates it from a normal configuration tool to more like an advanced settings manager. And some of the changes are not so minor. Among the various new customization options added, it is … Continue reading »

Here.

jrg
im going to strangle firefox for being so stubborn about content-types. @RolandTaylor, ideas?

@jrg Please watch the implied language.

jrg
4:49 PM
@ObsessiveFOSS i know. just so frustrating :(

@jrg That's actually a great idea!

@RolandTaylor: You had an announcement of some sort?

However, if the rubber duck is live, it can help spot errors, also. May I be your rubber duck?

jrg
@GeorgeEdison the pinned message about was the announcement.

@jrg what trouble are you getting?

4:56 PM
Oooooh.
Okay, great.

Btw it's fine by me because I think they need to get a little bold too.

I have a new favorite company: Digia.

jrg
@RolandTaylor so I have a <audio> tag that has a file named file.wav that is really an OGG (YES I KNOW), and a filetype of audio/x-wav. Chrom(ium)e plays this fine. Firefox just chokes and dies.

@GeorgeEdison lol

And there is no reason whatsoever to like Nokia now.

4:57 PM
@jrg ohhhhhhhh

They are on the same list as Apple as far as I'm concerned now.

That can be deeply frustrating.
@GeorgeEdison lol same here
I'm with Jolla from now on

jrg
I either talk to a rubber ducky, or a kitchen timer. I also have a set of spices that I talk to sometimes.
3
The paprika seems to be the most helpful, followed by curry. ;P

@jrg What spices? I am actually good with spices, but I think a new chat room is better to talk in. I propose: jrg's rubber ducks

jrg
This room is fine. It's the off-topic jazz. :)

5:02 PM
@jrg I talk to Google Translate. Reading it in Russian makes me think about it more.

Vargidid. Vlat.

jrg
Hm..... I wonder if I could hack this into oblivion and make it work...
@RolandTaylor ok, so tell me if this makes any sense.

@jrg aight

jrg
right now, i have one upload with three styles - one is original, another is mp3, and the last one is ogg.
Instead of hacking styles, and then trying to reinvent the wheel to make each styles content-type different
maybe i have three uploads - original, mp3 and ogg.
and just have a after_save callback that would call mp3 and ogg?

This is in javascript correct?
(Your after_save callback)

jrg
5:11 PM
No, all serverside.
that way the client only has to upload once.
i'd import from original.url

Wait,
I thought you were dealing with a web page on the client side haha
switches gears

jrg
no. i'm just asking it from a logic perspective.

jrg
wait
couldn't i have a "hidden form" for mp3 that would be filled from the original?
hm.

So let me see if I understand this:

You would have 3 existing files and just select which one at the time that the audio is requested?

jrg
5:14 PM
Yes
i need mp3 for the flash fallback. between mp3 and flash, i'd be covered, so ogg isn't really a "requirement" per se.

So then you should drop the ogg
brb food :D

jrg
ok

5:42 PM
@jrg put your hands where I can see them (from a distance).

jrg
@RolandTaylor no way.

Hand over your cookies (all of them).

jrg
you'll have to kill me first!
THE COOKIES ARE MINE. ALL MINE.
Unless.....

Give me now ...and nobody gets hurt (badly)

jrg
you ask nicely.

5:43 PM
Nicely? I don't do nicely, kid!
Hand me your cookies! NOW (This instant!)

jrg
Just ask please?

You pushed me! You pushed me!
OKAY
Back to business

jrg
@RolandTaylor so i was thinking, and I think I can risk setting the mimetype for everything in a very hackish manner.
:headers => { "Content-Type" => "audio/mp3"}

This is php?
(It looks hackish but it I'm fine with it :D)

jrg
Ruby.

5:53 PM
Okie
I have not touched PHP in a long time
That's why I asked
(OMIGOSH ITS HOTTER THAN THE SUN RIGHT NOW)
(SORRY RANDOM OUTBURST)

jrg
now amazon s3 is driving me insane.

How so?

jrg
@RolandTaylor it's just being its normal self i guess...

6:12 PM
@jrg LOL

jrg
nope, setting content type didn't work
I suppose I can always just not support firefox.

jrg
I laughed
blech.
I had it working two hours ago. now its all screwed up.

jrg
@RolandTaylor nice thing about rubber duckies: I can chew their heads off if I get mad. ;P

6:23 PM
That reminds me of the time I had a huge project for college, and it was working...
until I spoke to the tutor and she told me to use a for loop for something.
And then, thanks to MSVC... it didn't work anymore.
I never did get it to work again.
Wait, no it wasn't MSVC I now remember
the problem was that whatever it was just couldn't be done with a for loop

jrg
:(

6:51 PM
I'm having an interesting discussion on G+ with some atheists
for one of the first times in my life, I'm not being chewed up or spit out

jrg
7:47 PM
@RolandTaylor whoa.

8:15 PM
@RolandTaylor Seriously?
