@nbro I've never heard of a Stack Exchange user being asked to certify their background in order to be judged by a moderator. Is there any president for this kind of moderator interrogation of a user anywhere in the whole Stack Exchange ecosystem?

Stack Exchange users can be completely anonymous, Stack Exchange judges users based on the voting system, not credentials. This seems scary and intimidating to say the least!

@uhoh I was trying to get to know the users better. That question was more informal. If they wanted to answer, they would have answered, otherwise, fine even without an answer.

@nbro it sets a bad president. It doesn't read like an invitation, it seems to be a moderator's request.

@uhoh No, it's not.

@nbro Hi. Just an onlookers note here. Your messages came across as quite aggressive. I also wanted to point out some things with your reasoning. "I think that's unfair that your site is getting so much attention" - that is not a reason to ask someone to not post links to that site. There are reasons for that much attention. @NikeDattani spent a lot of time and effort both finding users and engaging them, just look at their Meta posts on MM.Meta.

They are trying to promote their site by posing links to questions, which you have previously not told them not to do so. Therefore, I find this message incredibly offending considering the amount of hard work they put in to fulfilling the strict Area 51 requirements to launch a site and would like to ask you to refrain from sending such messages in the future.

@nbro I think there is a reason why they didn't answer.

@ArtOfCode Can you please explain why are you intervening here?

@nbro Firstly, revealing mod-private data in public (like who handled a flag) without permission is a big no. If you'd like to discuss my handling of it, I'm happy to do so in the TL.

It's also a big "no" to delete my message above.
There was literally nothing wrong with it.
Just because people interpret it as if I was requesting something, it's not my fault.

@nbro That... I didn't actually realise I'd done that. I certainly didn't intend to - apologies.

Ok, no problem.

This room was frozen to avoid useless discussions for a while. It will be unfrozen once people calm down and start to think more clearly.

Happy new year of sorts...

I'll leave it frozen for a while, seems things need to calm down. Have a happy holidays, and we can sort this out once everyone is done celebrating.

@Tsundoku Really? That's funny. Now, every action that a moderator takes is an abuse of the moderator privileges :P

@nbro Let's hope not.
