I agree you can have your reason for using R1, R2 in your opAmp notation (and your "vertical bar" and "circular loop" to denote V and I).
The problem is ***consistency***: If 90% of the EE guys are using R1, R2, me newbie will definitely follow, otherwise I would not be popular among my friends, colleagues, and most importantly my students, who would have a miserable journey in their EE career.
