Hey @Zanna!
I was just checking out this chatroom randomly.. didn't expect that you would come here..

@RandomPerson why not?
:)

The bot names are cool.. farmer and gardener..

I was in the private beta for this site

@Zanna I thought that you might have slept by now..
@Zanna oh..

@RandomPerson oh right! yes I'm just shutting down about now :)

5:56 PM
Looks like this chat room isn't that active..
@Zanna ok...

@RandomPerson haha sorry my message looks really random now
@RandomPerson sadly, you are correct

@Zanna hmm..
Lately, I've been feeling very confused regarding how much time I've been spending on SE..

confused?
it's bothering you?

I should spend more time on other stuff...
I'm just doing a lot of time-pass in SE..

SE can be very addictive!

5:59 PM
@Zanna Yeah! I'm rarely checking social media nowadays since I'm more active on SE...

is that bad?

I feel like I'm a procrastinating a lot..

before I started participating in Ask Ubuntu, I used to spend most of my free time writing book reviews
that was pretty good. I wish I still did that sometimes
@RandomPerson procrastinating? You feel that you are avoiding your real work?

@Zanna oh..
@Zanna yeah.. sadly :(

before I started writing book reviews, I was active on Twitter

6:02 PM
@Zanna oh..

before that, I was recovering from my PGCE haha

Do you have any suggestions to avoid procrastinating in SE?
@Zanna what is PGCE?

it's an acronym for post-graduate certificate in education - it's a course for graduates to train as teachers in the UK

ok. What do you mean by "recovering from" in the context?

@RandomPerson I recommend the MOOC Learning How to Learn. There are some awesome tips for avoiding procrastination in that, as well as loads of other great science-based advice for getting stuff done. It's a free online course

6:06 PM
Can you please share the link?

@RandomPerson I mean it was so difficult I needed time to rest after it haha. But I was actually busy as always

So are you teacher now?
@Zanna Thanks!

I successfully qualified as a teacher but I'm not working as a school teacher right now

ok.. which subject were you interested in teaching?

@RandomPerson you're welcome - I did it a couple of years ago and it helped me a lot. I should revisit it

6:09 PM
ok..

@RandomPerson it's secondary school science I trained to teach, specialising in physics

general top tip for procrastinating if you have some stuff to do: schedule 30 minutes to start working on your task. Work for 30 minutes with no distractions, then take a break. Resume work if possible. If not, at least you put in 30 minutes XD

@Zanna that's a good tip! Thanks!
I gotta go offline now. TTYL. Bye!

:) all the best!
good night \o

6:13 PM
@Zanna Same to you!

:)

@Zanna Thanks and wish you the same :)
