its easy to be frustrated at exams but I don't know a better alternative. Reading it again, it is possible (given the context of the syllabus, which I do not have) that the "differential equation of a curve" (which is not standard notation) means that it needs to characterise the family of curves

you're given finitely many choices so you can just check which ones it could be for a few choices of b, maybe b=1 is enough

probably and more helpfully I would guess you're supposed to differentiate once and then eliminate b from resulting system of two simultaneous equations

Find all the $x$ between 0 and $2\pi$ such that $\sin 2x = 1/2$

Of course the acute one is $$2x = \frac{\pi}{6} \\ x = \frac{\pi}{12}$$

How to find the others?

I think I have forgotten something very basic in High School Trigonometry.

google for trig identities? you can do it in a few different ways

@CalvinKhor How do we know that the period of $\sin 2x$ is $\pi$? What will be the period of $\sin^2 x$?

? what's the period of $\sin$? What does scaling do to a function? Express $\sin^2$ in terms of double angles? You don't need to ask me about high school maths, if you need to ask someone, try the basic maths chatroom
