its easy to be frustrated at exams but I don't know a better alternative. Reading it again, it is possible (given the context of the syllabus, which I do not have) that the "differential equation of a curve" (which is not standard notation) means that it needs to characterise the family of curves
you're given finitely many choices so you can just check which ones it could be for a few choices of b, maybe b=1 is enough
probably and more helpfully I would guess you're supposed to differentiate once and then eliminate b from resulting system of two simultaneous equations

Yeah
@CalvinKhor I’m a little lost on this simple question:
Find all the $x$ between 0 and $2\pi$ such that $\sin 2x = 1/2$
Of course the acute one is $$2x = \frac{\pi}{6} \\ x = \frac{\pi}{12}$$
How to find the others?
I think I have forgotten something very basic in High School Trigonometry.

6:08 AM
google for trig identities? you can do it in a few different ways

6:37 AM
@CalvinKhor How do we know that the period of $\sin 2x$ is $\pi$? What will be the period of $\sin^2 x$?

6:48 AM
? what's the period of $\sin$? What does scaling do to a function? Express $\sin^2$ in terms of double angles? You don't need to ask me about high school maths, if you need to ask someone, try the basic maths chatroom

  Basic Mathematics

This room is meant for all basic mathematical discussion, incl...
Or ask a question on the main site

7:29 AM
@CalvinKhor You're becoming like the other SE users, it's a bad metamorphosis.

7:49 AM
I do not understand or have the time at the moment to respond to such a comment. Those answers are a google away, so you can help yourself, or you can tell me why you cannot google it
If I wanted to talk about Basic Mathematics, and was free, I would hang out in above chatroom

Do you agree that you're not talking in the same manner as you used to?

The above comment is structured so as to imply that I disagree

I'm really not playing with the words here Cal, it feels bad when someone whom you consider close to you suddenly starts acting cold like others.

My interest is narrow and reasonably clear, I do not know a lot of about myths or history, and I do not currently have the time to discuss basic properties of sine/cosine

But I never pressurized you about nothing
The way you're talking is not the way how two acquaintances talk.

7:57 AM
and I am slightly... unnerved? by the fact that we are doing this in a skeptics.SE chatroom when there are suitable maths.SE chatrooms (including one that I made to talk about maths)

You ever been stalked?

I do not mean to act cold, just that I want to tell you that you can google to solve those maths problems
and there are people who are currently more patient and more free if you need to talk to someone

I can forget about everything

I have not, and I currently have faith in the SE system
@KnightadmiresChappo would you have preferred to have no reply? I am already taking time to respond here

I think something is wrong with us.

8:01 AM
That's remarkably loaded for 7 words

Let's see if time can mend this.

well. i'm off then

4 hours later…
11:36 AM
@JohnRennie Hi
Sir, do you think this problem is good enough?
The direction of propagation is not given, how are we supposed to find the magnetic field's direction?

Friendship should be more than biting time can sever
