@Daniil The point of the request was to have a pending request so that once the fifth TP is seen, the request can simply be approved instead of having to create a new request. Since all the TPs were within the last few days, I thought another one would come quickly.
@Undo If you don't mind me asking, can I please get a tl;dr explanation of the context behind that message? (I wholeheartedly agree with it, and I've said the same thing back when they nominated as an SO mod candidate.)

@gparyani While I can understand your desire to do that, PRs to change the blacklists/watchlist are usually handled as they come in, or relatively shortly thereafter. Without a comment on the PR, or here in Charcoal HQ, there's no way for anyone to know what your intent was. The choice to close that PR was correct, as the domain does not qualify for the blacklist.

@Daniil OK, so you are wanting to watch for "citystasher" or "citystasher.com". So, you should use two different watches citystasher\.com and citystasher(?!\.com). One is for the domain name, and the other is for the name used in text and not as a domain name.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially bad keyword in body (1): Visual Studio Task List doesn't work as it should be by gurkan on stackoverflow.com

@Daniil I'm not sure why you are using the (C|c). A) Please use non-capturing groups in watchlist and blacklist regexes (that would make this look like (?:C|c)). The capture information goes unused, so it's just additional CPU cycles spent tracking it. IME, it's about a 10% CPU savings to not use capture groups. B) (?:C|c) is normally written as a set, [Cc], rather than as a group. It's not required, but it is a style thing. I must admit that I have not done performance testing on it.

@Daniil We generally only make the domain optional for emails that are with very common domains (e.g. "gmail.com"). In those cases, the tendency is that the username is the uniquely identifiable piece of text. However, that can end up not being the case, if the username is not very long. In which case the domain should not be optional, even if it is a very common domain (e.g. "gmail.com").

@Makyen I'm asking about why the two syntaxes (both for optional text) are different

@Daniil Once you are no longer wrapped in a (?-i:), the [Cc] is redundant. By default case insensitivity is turned on, so just c will match both C and c.

8:59 AM
@Daniil That depends on where you use it. It's used as a quantifier to indicate 0 or 1 of the preceding token/group/set/etc. It's also used after ( as part of indicating additional types of groups, because a (? by itself is invalid syntax.
