Hello @quid
Can you cancel the synonym (holomorphic-function) related to (complex-analysis) because as it stands, each time that one tries to add the tag, it disappears.
IMO the tag it's fine, to classify better

@Isabellatrix this is intended behavior; I could cancel it. I hesitate to do it as it is a long standing synonym. I don't personally think it's a great synoym. Feel free to raise the issue on meta. Best use the tag management thread. It might make sense to check if there is an older discussion about it. I did not find one quickly though.

@quid "I hesitate to do it as it is a long standing synonym." I thought it was just a button to click to do the action :D // "I don't personally think it's a great synoym." why not? there are 1.1k watchers of this tag, so better to classify to see only this questions with this tag, me thinks.

@Isabellatrix (1) Sure, it is just a couple of clicks to change the behaviour. But the difficulty of changing the behaviour is not the issue. The issue is that the identification of the two tags has been around for a long time. That is, the tag has been a synonym of the for a long time. As such, it is inadvisable for @quid to change this behaviour unilaterally.
(2) The statement "I don't personally think it's a great synoym," indicates that quid agrees with you, and would perhaps like to change the current behaviour.
(3) The tag does not have 1.1k followers. The tag has 1.1k followers. is a synonym of the tag , so everyone following the latter is implicitly following the former---they are treated as the same thing.

@XanderHenderson then why does it say in the information box that has 1.1k ? check this math.stackexchange.com/questions/2273203/… which has that tag, and check the info box

@Isabellatrix Like I just said, everyone who is following is counted as a follower of , as the two tags are treated as the same object by the system.

@XanderHenderson got it, Thanks.

@Isabellatrix sorry if my intent was not clear. As @Xander said, I agree that the synonym could be revoked and the tag stand on its own. However, I do not feel comfortable to impose my personal opinion in an instant. It is technically easy to do, yes. But I think we should hear other opinions. Visibly others found it useful and it is around since a while, and most importantly actually does rename stuff.
What I mean with the last bit is that there are, or at least were, some obscure synonyms that anyway are hardly ever triggered. I might more readily ditch one of those. The current one did something hundreds of time already.
