@XanderHenderson I enjoy the site a lot. I think that all of us could enjoy even more if you could spend more time to raise questions and give answers instead of discuss in chatrooms. Myabe we should avoid such kind of discussion here and try to discuss that topic in Meta.

@JyrkiLahtonen I don't understand the point. Answer to an alleged homework is bad but create a repository with all solution for all homeworks is good? Or give a solution by comments or duplicates is good? In any case, I would be happy to discuss these issues more in detail on Meta, chatrooms are not a good place to discuss the matter.

@BillDubuque This is a big issue which should be discussed on meta in great details. Here is not the place. we are indeed abusing of it.
@user One problem I have with your suggestions to discuss on meta instead on here is that many of the topics which came up here have already been discussed on meta in great lengths. Still, it seems that you ignore the results of those discussions.

@MartinSleziak Thanks I’ll take a look to them. Do you have some specific suggestion for these discussions? Notably for the submission of questions for deletion/undeletion?

I am not sure this specific issue was discussed.
But several of other things (such as closing/deleting PSQs, answering PSQs, closing duplicates, answering duplicates) have been discussed several times.
They are simply too many of them to be able to give you all relevant links quickly. (I'd have to search a bit among the old discussions a bit.)
But you're aware at least of some of those discussions, aren't you? After all, you've been on the site for quite a long time.

For the record the above moved messages concern the massive self-targeted undeletion requests recently posted by "user" (gimusi) in this chat room (the beginnings of an undeletion voting ring). I encourage all participants in this room to carefully read this discussion to avoid getting caught up in the unethical behavior.

@BillDubuque For the record, I think you should give your clear definition of "undeletion voting ring". The one you mentioned is not clear to me:

@user You're engaging in undeletion voting ring behavior. Suppose everyone in this room did as you do. Then it'd be a ring of users soliciting actions on their posts - like upvoting rings. This is against the rules. Users have been suspended for such. That you are the only person doing it doesn't stop it from being against the rules. But it should give you pause that others don't behave so unethically. Rather they act on all posts they deem worthy & rarely mention their own posts

user12692
I do not understand what you mean by "users soliciting actions on their posts". I believe one can mention whatever post one wants.

user12692
It is also unclear what are "the rules" referring to.

3:06 PM
@Jack I already did, but since it seems you intend to hide this unethical behavior by censoring discussion of such here I won't be wasting any further time with that in this biased room.

@BillDubuque What do you think it's biased about this room? And where exactly did you give a clear definition of voting ring? (Here you did indirectly). You're free to not reply of course, also keep in mind that no one is forcing you (or anyone else) to "waste" time in this room.

@Zacky The name is irrelevant. Such (self-)targeting is highly unethical and always has been since the dawn of the site. I will not tarnish my name by participating in any room that condones unethical behavior (and tries to hide it under the rug as with the above censorship). I encourage others to do likewise.

3:25 PM
But self-targeting $\neq$ voting-ring. Do you think that the previous discussion was on topic for this room? Or rather better in this room than in a specific META chat-room? I believe no one is trying to censor anything.
Also one can also see that this room is less-popular overall than the Meta room. By moving the messages it should actually give more visibility to the discussion. (I think that discussion should have been there from the start).

3:48 PM
@Zacky But it is important that users in this room be informed that they may be unknowingly participating in unethical behavior. Maybe you are lucky enough to never have seen a voting ring evolve. Voting rings don't magically appear out of thin air. Rather they start with one user pushing the boundaries.

4:01 PM
I see that you got good intentions that aims to prevent someone from doing an unethical behavior. That's cool, but still there's no censorship done by moving some messages to a more appropriate room. Also by moving the message there, more users can see your message, and it should not be limited only to those who visit Gentle.

May be merged with the duplicate target, the wording of which is different from this one.
