What's the procedure for moving a link from DROP QUEUE to GHOST? Max's meta post suggests ROs will do this. Is there one around who's willing? Specifically "Every derived table must have its own alias" from Nov 1, 19:32

@MichaelGreen Done. Would you like to be RO there so you can do it yourself in future?

Q: If a stored procedure is altered while it's currently being used in a cursor, does the cursor continue using the old query before it was altered?

J.D.If a stored procedure (or view) is currently in use within a long running cursor, and I alter that stored procedure, will the cursor continue using the old instance of the stored procedure until the cursor is finished?

The new rules man that fabulously detailed and useful Q & A has so far earned 80 rep.

@AndriyM yes, that's exactly right
if a back-end is retired, no-one will be able to press 'run' anymore, but the latest cached version will be available indefinitely

Got it, thanks

9:08 AM
@TomV-TeamMonica quite double :P

9:19 AM
@Philᵀᴹ how do you know?

10:14 AM
@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica Sure. Thank you.

10:43 AM
@dezso he doesn't, he's just being rude to all the Martians
i, however, greet beings of all stellar origins without discrimination

@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica I've read the FAQ, and your meta post "How to start a chat?" and clicked around a bit. I'm just not seeing how to move a message from DROP to GHOST. Hints?

A: A guide to moderating chat

TarynWhat tools are available to room owners? Room owners are users that have some elevated permissions in a chatroom. Typically, they will be the first line of defense when it comes to inappropriate content or behavior in a room. Users will look to the room owners to guide the room. The room owners...

@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica Got it now. I was in the wrong meta. Thanks again. Good night.

11:30 AM
@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica xour thoughts too ;)
(and waiting for the ban ...)

You're lucky I'm on holiday 🙂

@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica I read that as "Evan I ..." and was totally confused!
.. because it wasn't in ALL CAPS ;)

The current bottle is Cotes du Rhone anyway!

@PeterVandivier they haven't posted any info yet. I just asked them.
There might be some copy of a pgMilan talk. Possibly about new stuff in v.12

> 2ndQuadrant will be providing food and drink, so please come along.
sounds convincing
@ypercubeᵀᴹ this will definitely be a topic in Berlin (from none other than Magnus Hagander)

11:49 AM
@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica yper-lucky-look-cube would be a nice hat name. Too bad there are no hats this year for cube ;)
SE killled all the fun

Well it's not a fact yet, but seems likely yeah.
At least they're being consistent.
I suppose.

I won't participate anyway

Q: "Which answer in this list is the correct answer to this question?"

Bora M. AlperI received this question from my mathematics professor as a leisure-time logic quiz, and although I thought I answered it right, he denied. Can someone explain the reasoning behind the correct solution? Which answer in this list is the correct answer to this question? All of the below...

Now, that's ironic
I guess the next avenue is paid advertisements. StackExchange is hardly checking the contents of these. — Alex 24 hours ago

(what to do since they removed the Monica community ads)

that's actually really funny
I'd upvote it if I hadn't deleted my meta profile
I wonder how much a billboard ad across from SO HQ would cost

4:40 PM
@PaulWhitesaysGoFundMonica Was this deletion anything to do with the Monica campaign? Maybe you've mentioned it before - I only lurk here from time to time.

#MakeStackRetract
lol, I just heard managers talking about everyone having six to eight weeks to get something done.

All of this really isn’t going to end well for them
It’s way too late, but a “look, we’ve fucked this completely, we’ve given a load of dollar to charity, invited Monica to work with us as a paid employee, and started a research group to put the moon on a stick” is still the best thing they can do

I guess they could sell to expert sex change

I feel violated.
My "about me" was edited.
> my feelings

I don’t agree with them doing that
It’ll only make matters worse

6:39 PM
I strongly agree.
I lol'd at "put the moon on a stick."

6:56 PM
Pfft, space elevator. Musk needs to get it done ✅

Gotta love web frameworks.
136 line stack trace.

Yikes.

and yet, 136 line query plan is nothing special

Yup, you got a problem right there in your coldbox

@mustaccio You might see a tree with 136 operations but I doubt you'd see a single branch recurse 136 lines deep very often.

That stack trace right there is also a tree, innit

7:50 PM
@mustaccio By definitiion it's a single branch from wherever the exception was called.
The state of the stack at the time of the exception.
@mustaccio I see what you're talking about there. I don't think arguing semantics really achieves anything.

I'm not arguing

8:30 PM
wow would I love dark mode in SSMS. Just sayin'.
also, Stack should have a dark mode.
In fact, everything should have a dark mode, and it should be the default.
like DOS was back in the day.
well, who knew.

@ConcernedOfTunbridgeWells cold fusion is still a thing? Wow

9:05 PM
@MaxVernon Try running it on the latest Mac OS -- it has a system-wide dark mode

9:43 PM
@mustaccio hah. That would mean I'd need to buy an Apple product.

Is that evil?

10:05 PM
I just don't like having to pay Apple Tax

1 hour later…
11:15 PM
Well, you've got to choose what's more important to you: everything in dark mode, or some stupid money
