Q: Shortest amud or daf in Shas?

alichtWhat is the shortest amud or daf in Shas? I vaguely remember seeing a daf that was only a couple lines of gemara or so (maybe in Pesachim?) but don't remember where it was. Daf in this case, referring to: the least amount of words of gemara on an amud the least amount of words of gemara on a w...

I'm just astonished by the fact that despite so many downvoted questions and answers, simply by being present at the site users can gather so many points. And what is more appalling is the style that is permitted based on these not-necessarily-merit-based points...

@Kazibácsi Presence does not confer reputation points. Writing questions or answers that others consider valuable does.

1:39 PM
@IsaacMoses though upvoted are worth about 5x a downvote so as long as you average 1 upvote for 4 downvotes you can over high volume achieve a high rep.

@IsaacMoses We have already discussed this point issue, and this is how SE works and we have to live with it. But if certain users start to act, based on these very imprecise signals, if they were some choshuve ruv, is from a certain perspective ridiculous, but deeply sad as well.
@DoubleAA You have a very coarse style sometimes, and it seems that you are not necessarily avoiding conflicts to put it in a nice way. But when I went through some of your answers, a Latin saying became clear for me. But I strictly made my assessment based on the answers, not the points.

2:13 PM
@Kazibácsi hm? What double standard do I have? Which assessment are you referring to? I feel like I missed a logical step here.

An answer with many downvotes is suspect for anomaly. I rarely seen tora answer with multiple downvotes. But answers with a weak tora value have upvotes because they are Chiddush. The ideal attitude is to accord a little importance to upvotes. But one important topic is to warn people against answers purely wrong or stupid. If someone cannot judge by himself, the downvotes help him a lot. @Kazi bacsi

@DoubleAA In your particular case I might tolerate more from you than from others

@Kazibácsi you're welcome to treat me, as an online persona you have developed a relationship with, as different from a user you don't know, but please don't treat me differently because of fear of my mod diamond or imaginary unicorn points. I'd never use those powers to harm you for personal spite.
And feel free to flag or downvote things I've posted if they rightfully deserve it. Surely not everything I write is perfect. That's being human for you.

@kouty I'm here for only a year, but I've learnt not to give too much importance to votes. I've also complained here, but they're just a thing to consider when assessing an answer. Sources, logical flow matter much more.
@DoubleAA I have a personal policy of not downvoting answers. I don't have a single one. An answer can have at least (or most) 0 value for me. If I don't like something, I comment. Or edit.

2:45 PM
@Kazibácsi as you wish. You could help prevent people who post bad answers from getting too much rep and help bad answers not get too high a score. That's the whole basis of crowdsourcing. But again, as you wish.

@DoubleAA You've just said, -2 vs. 10. Sooner or later, but bad answers prevail.

2:59 PM

@Kazibácsi indeed I can think of hateful things to do to posters of bad answers. Thankfully we have the peaceful option of targeting only their imaginary unicorn points. Send the right message without any meaningful harm. B"H.

@Kazibácsi Perhaps relevant to the point you’re making here:

Q: Does "reputation scoring" make "the Torah a crown to magnify yourself with"?

Avrohom YitzchokIs "reputation scoring" against the spirit of Pirkei Ovos 4 (5) "Rabbi Tzaddok would say: <snip> Do not make the Torah a crown to magnify yourself with, ...."

@IsaacMoses Indeed. I don't want to seem too negative, because MY is the best thing that happened with Judaism with regards to Internet, and it's a huge inspiration for me to look up things I've never ever thought I would. Just a few Mi Yodeans should have a healthier, more balance self-image.

Q: If a question has multiple closeworthy problems with it, what should the close vote be for?

DonielFConsider Very big contradiction between 4 elements in Judaism - Olam Haba. As I noted in the comments there, the OP asks three different questions (too broad), two of which are duplicates and one is unclear. What’s the correct procedure for closing here? Is there a “hierarchy” for different clo...

(just to quote a random aphorism)

@msh210 "The more extra content in your post, the more points people may take exception to in comments."
