@SmokeDetector It's also quite bad that the question is also poor and is asked by a high-rep user.

We probably have tens (if not hundreds) of questions to compute a polynomial function of a matrix, usually by computing the remainder mod the characteristic polynomial. It's about time we start closing these as dupes starting with this recent one. I've already cast a close vote with a dupe target. Please add some close votes (and more / better dupe targets if you have the time).

@BillDubuque I even found one with almost the same polynomial. It's hard to believe that it's a coincidence...

@Lord_Farin Hi: what's this roomba business? I think I missed a meme or something :)

@rschwieb Roomba is the name for the SE auto-cleanup script(s) which automatically delete certain old posts.

Hmmm, I missed that!
Is there any way to see the active scripts running, or do you just have to know the folklore?

@rschwieb It's the reason that every Saturday the number of unanswered posts tends to show a drop. If you look around on meta it should not be too hard to find.

@MartinSleziak I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be finding at that link...

And this is probably what Lord_Farin meant: Why does the Unanswered Question count drop on Saturdays?

7:26 PM
I think he meant I should have meta'd for "roomba" and indeed there are 6 posts. But at the outset the context wasn't enough for me to expect something in meta about it. Indeed I have heard about the effects of this thing, I just never heard a name attached to it.

@rschwieb Well, explanation how roomba works. (You can notice that the last part of the link is roomba.) And you can find a few additional links here: math.meta.stackexchange.com/tags/auto-delete/info

I know how roomba works, approximately. I was curious to see if there is a list of actively running scripts.

What do you mean by "actively running scripts"?

I've seen smokedetector, for example, and I imagine there might be more than just these two.
Smoke Detector, Roomba, ... more?

SD is a bot which runs in chat. That's different from various scripts which regularly run on the main site.

Like a stackexchange dashboard that lists them
Hm, I assumed they'd all be able to post into chat

From the top of my head I can think only of roomba and tag-pruning.
roomba runs once a week and deletes some posts. There is also a script which runs daily and deleted tags with no occurrences, and once a months tags which are 6 months old and have a single occurrence are deleted.
But those scripts do stuff on the main site and on meta - they do nothing in chat.
BTW here is a meta post related to the above: What scripts run at 3:00 UTC?
Just to clarify, roomba is part of the Stack Exchange software. SmokeDetector is not run by Stack Exchange.

Thanks!
