Q: Why did Charles keep Shaw immobile?

Anyway, I posted the fanfiction answer. It's a bit of a long shot, but who knows?

oooh it's the founders familiars one

You say that as if it's an old friend.

Ithink I searched for it when it came out and like a month ago when I was trying to dig out fanfic-ids with my newly found and beloved wildcard operator
(I don't think I read the whole question though ahah :D)
seems pretty solid as an answer, +1

Thanks.

maybe OP will confirm whether they misremembered and/or conflated several stories (or if it was something else altogether)
not seen in some time but who knows

12:22 AM
I mean it’s missing quite a few details, but how many stories can there be with Harry being a heir of the four founders, meeting their familiars in a secret room, etc.

I have no idea who started the trope, but "Daughter of Sirius Black, dead mother, raised by Lupin, falls in love with a Weasley" is incredibly common. I found at least seven of them, a couple of them have the girl being related to the Malfoys, but I don't really have much more time right now, so if anyone wants to dig deeper, be my guest. I was going for demonic possession but status quo is fine too
It’s late for me so I may be remembering wrong but isn’t the quote talking in the general sense about the real world rather than something fictional*? — TheLethalCarrot 3 mins ago

@Jenayah Which one was the demon?

^ kinda but the way I read it the question is about how it's tied to Dune so I'd say on-topic. Waiting for OP's clarification, hence the reply here and not in the post
@Alex if I only knew :-)

@Alex funny
Essentially my comment, if the author is talking about the real world it isn’t really on topic

3:48 AM
Sure but the meta question is about how to make it on-topic
If it's about how it's tied to Dune should be fine innit?

You can’t make something on topic that’s asking about the real world really. Anyhow been up to let the pup out for a wee so going back to sleep. I’ll have a proper look when my brain isn’t tired

G'night

FWIW though nothing is saying how is it tied into Dune in the Q except for the title of the essay
though again sleepy eyes so may have missed something

Well in any case OP is asking about how to go from off-topic to on-topic
And the essay does talk about the work by the way, with clans names and stuff
But hey it's 5 in the morning, go to sleep :P
(I should probably too...)

Chouan ("the silent one", or "owl") is a French surname. It was used as a nom de guerre by the Chouan brothers, most notably Jean Cottereau, better known as Jean Chouan, who led a major revolt in Bas-Maine against the French Revolution. Members of this revolt (and even French royalists in general) came to be known as Chouans, and the revolt itself came to be known as the Chouannerie. == Origin of the word == Jean Cottereau and his brothers all inherited the surname Chouan from their father, a clog merchant and homme honorable from Saint-Berthevin in Mayenne, on the border with Brittany. well Your Common Sense May Vary but killing mice isn't sci-fi and "a felling of hints of sci-fi" isn't assertive

Yep, some users are expert in rather "niche" topics. user14111 is well-versed into short stories, especially 50-70s ones. Fuzzy is more into fantasy books (apparently he reads a lot of those) but kinda diverse in general, same as Valorum and Buzz

SunniDecades ago I read a short story anthology that had a story that told the tale of a woman who kept trying to commit suicide, and the police detective who was trying to figure out why the body kept disappearing. It was told from the perspective of the cop, but also from the woman’s body’s immune ...

@NeoDarwin Agree w/ Jenayah and TLC, based on a Predator being in the comic, it should be on topic (unless you're asking something specific to B&V/Riverdale).
However, Archie vs. the Punisher is not (no SFF-nal content, as the Punisher is theoretically plausible as a real-world character).

Archie vs Punisher maybe not but if Batman is on-topic Punisher is as well
Punisher admittedly deals with less occult weird stuff than Batman, but still

Early Batman is weird

Every early classic superhero/villain is weird.

Any guy dressing up as a bat to try to save the city seems wierd to me.

I hope I accurately portrayed Batman there; I actually don't know too much about him.

eh so far it's a pretty accurate portrayal
Though stating Batman dressed as a bat and saved people wasn't going too far out on a limb ;)

So maybe I should try some others?

The only other superhero that I even moderately know anything about is Superman.

Wrong, you know bits of Ragman.
So far this is very DC-oriented by the way... and that's a good thing! Keep at it! :p

@Jenayah Oh yes, I know what Hebrew word he has.

Batman is potrayed so much as an gruff crime fighter that the bat dressing up is hilarious now
Arkham Knight had the best interpretation of the batsuit imo

every network mod retains their power on chat

Site mods
And SE employees, I think.
