@ZachSaucier I'm around to give Illustrator advice/help if you want

12:56 AM
Haha, whoops
I'm looking to create an oil/paint-looking effect similar to codropspz-tympanus.netdna-ssl.com/codrops/wp-content/uploads/… but with more random shapes like the above. But the key is I need to cover the whole artboard
Right now I'm generating random shapes using the start functionality and then messing around with the anchors. I was curious if you guys thought of a better way of doing something like that
^^ What I have so far, just a bunch of layered random shapes (not much oily-ness to it)
What I have above works for my purposes but I feel like there's a better way to do what I want if I knew vector editors better

1:15 AM
Oil tends to stay together (very dense) and therefore forms more rounded shapes than jagged ones.
Is there a simplify option in inkscape?
You can use that with very low curve precision to round everything up.

I guess what I'm wondering about more so is not the shapes as much as the connected-ness of the shapes

Is this more like what you're saying?

2:13 AM
More connected, kind of like puzzle pieces but blob-like like the image you posted
I guess I could search for that
Eh, everything that shows up for that search is too puzzle-like
I'm looking for a way to have random shapes like what I posted above but make it less layer-y and more flow-y into each other

I think I understand... I'm not really sure, I'll have to think about it.
Why don't you post a question.

This seems like something @joojaa would know how to do with a blob of code

Q: Flowing/Blob-like fitting together

Zach SaucierI am trying to create some blobs that flow into each other and take up the entire artboard. In Inkscape I used the star tool along with the randomization parameter to create shapes seen below. This is somewhat adequate, but I'd like to have the shapes flow into/around each other more than the l...

I would also include an example if you can find one
@ZachSaucier this link may work

Just btw @Zach, that game on your website is so addictive!
> You lost on level 8. :(

Haha, good!

@WELZ: Please read my rejection of a recent flag of yours. Feel free to respond here as well.

@Wrzlprmft I don't know exactly what kind of mod tools you have... I was able to see it by going to /?tab=activity&sort=suggestions.

Although Billy and Scott gave great answers to the question I was asking, the way that I'm animating it (web stuff) doesn't look as nice as the layered blobs I had before actually. So I think I'll probably stick with my old method for now unless I change how I am animating the shapes

@WELZ Ah, I see. I was misunderstanding your flag (my fault) such that it pertains to the flagged post. Thanks for reporting.

@WELZ What’s your problem with this edit? The post in question is not closed or anything, so it’s fine.

"I want something like this" turned into "I would to have something like this:"

@WELZ Yes, that’s a ±0, but the rest is an improvement (adding punctuation).

Horrible grammar and such a superfluous change (even if it were proper)

5:10 PM
@WELZ Argh, my brain’s autocorrection inserted a like. I really should stop touching anything today.

I just saw two edits in a row which were both such trash and I got frustrated so I flagged. If you don't think it was worthy, whatever. I don't have too much of an opinion on this.

@WELZ Don’t worry; your flag was completely fine. I am apparently not. I will just stop moderating for today.

Are you able to un-decline it?

5:29 PM
@ZachSaucier I lost on 7 but sometimes level 3 or 4 is suddenly harder because of alternating directions of nearby shells.

5:43 PM
@WELZ No, but there is no real damage done – except to your flag stats.

@Zachiel yep, it's random and not very refined :)
It gets on average harder until level 10 or something like that when it is at its (on average) hardest

I'm still on 2012 with no intention of switching :D
