@SQB I assumed they'd get a notification in the "inbox", but don't know if that only happens after you've logged in to chat. Not a big deal either way, just recognized it. No idea why it was deleted.
@eshier unless you're a mod superpinging, a user won't get notified unless their name autocompletes when you start typing @al, and even then there are limits to when that if they'll get pinged if you type, say @esh
@SQB I've reloaded, so it's not on my screen anymore. Title was something like "YA book about teenage dragon". From about an hour before I sent the message.
@Mithrandir Okay. Good to know. Didn't know any other way to contact an individual user without going to an unrelated question/answer.
@Mithrandir Yeah, it seemed like it got deleted awfully quick, with 0 votes or answers. Maybe they figured it out right as they were posting and deleted it themselves. I only saw it because I left my computer on overnight and it loaded with all the recent activity when I got back on.
@SQB Definitely SF&F, I've never signed up for Lit. Not sure what it was. I can't find any links to deleted questions in my browser history, either. I know I didn't imagine it, but... weird. Yeah, I looked there for it from Oscar, but didn't see it, either.
@Mithrandir Isn't there a ~5 minute window when you post something where you can make changes and it is not considered a separate event--doesn't list it as an edit or anything? If so, what happens if the OP deletes the, in this case, question during that window?
