@StrongBad No issue with the post itself'
18:37
@StrongBad I raised a mod flag on that one
@StrongBad I custom mod-flaged pointing them here and at the list on metasmoke.
But it was copied by a troll and used to post dozens of time on SO.
[ metasmoke ] ci/circleci success on 571cbe7: Your tests passed on CircleCI!
@rene i am a mod there. trying to figure it out.
Step 1: the post gets reported by Smokey, because of email. False alert.
Step 2: Troll sees it reported, copies text, reposts many times.
18:39
@SFTP by a different user(s)?
Yes, I think so.
the same user, just different accounts
We should be ready for this to happen again in the future.
@StrongBad yes
@PrincessLuna I mean the Academia user is not the SO troll.
18:40
@StrongBad IMO, the key is to determine if it's actually the same user (same user name was used). If so, then the account is probably compromised.
so smokey flagged it incorrectly because of the email addresses. Then someone or a bot copied it to be a pain.
@SFTP oh. might be
Yes, exactly.
@StrongBad a reincarnation of How to help a postgraduate student write a book
@Makyen user profile only shows one other account with a couple of seemingly real questions
18:41
Since the Academia user did nothing wrong on Academia, I think you shouldn't need any action.
The question is kind of opinion based IMO but that's another story altogether.
@Makyen The username was copied along with text, I assume.
Then it's probably not that user's issue. My flag was with the intent A) inform you and B) that the IPs be checked to see if it's from the same, or very similar, IP. The most likely thing is that the user is just a bystander.
fp- by DJMcMayhem
@SFTP yes it is not a good question, just wanted to make sure it was not a spammer or bot or anything worse than a bad question.
@SFTP Likely, but as a user, I can't tell. Thus, the mod-flag to inform and use better tools.
18:43
@SmokeDetector fp
@PrincessLuna Registered question as false positive and removed user from the blacklist.
@StrongBad To be clear - Smokey didn't flag that.
s/flagged/reported/ is what StrongBad meant, I think
Just reported it
@SmokeDetector Note that this user also posted (and deleted) an exact copy of the firstname.lastname answer.
