Q: Which scriptures deals about avataras and kalas?

IndraIt is said creatures have different number of kalas, but avataras have more kalas than others. The number goes until 16 for a complete avatar (like Sri Krishna). Also the quantity doesn't mean "better", because all avataras are same God taking differents bodies. I found 2 diferent list for these...

Q: It is seen that srivaishnavas do not give shiva related names to their children, both male and female

v subrahmanianWhy are Srivaishnavas averse to give shiva-related names to their children, as others, like even Madhvas (Shiva Rao, Shankaranarayana, Manjunatha, etc. are available among Madhvas), do? Is it because of Periyazhwar's injunction: naaranan tam annai narakam pugaal? (The mother of a child named Nara...

@SwiftPushkar You are the man! Nice comments.
and don't know why people upvote hate comments about a sect and unclear posts targetted at users. Why does a sect's population concern? It is understandable that a new user will post such naive comments but what about experienced users? They are also following the same path. Sigh
Still we want Graduation!!! LOL

6:50 AM
@NogShine Yes thank you , It was pretty necessary to clear the thoughts of some users that people here are backwater , and they are spreading superstitions. Especially users of abroad. Our user community here is well modern , such a posts are creating wrong impression of this site among SE users that , here we are boosting superstitions and still are living in prehistoric age.
@NogShine So such a comment was quite necessary to show that users here are well about wrong practices , which unfortunately somehow got followed by the people over the time. But here we are not supporting such ideas often , but if they are expressed , they are just part of question /answer procedure.

Q: Who were the eight generals of Lord Rama?

Dr. Vineet AggarwalI am currently reading the Yog Vasishth and it is throwing up a lot of interesting details. In Chapter 2 of Book 1 we find the following statement: 28-29 The eight ministers of Rama โ€” Dhrishta, Jayanta, Bhasa, Satya, Vijaya, Vibishanah, Sushena and Hanumana, and also Indrajita โ€” are said to h...

7:41 AM
@SwiftPushkar Yes, they are necessary. Users should speak up in such instances but they are silent in most of the cases.
There is also another meta post which says a user is posting about 1% of populated sect among Hindus and not about modern day. OP also threatens that the site will die. Why does population of a sect or the reputation of a user bother anyone? If you want modern hinduism, post and earn rep. That's it. But they are speaking ill about user and the way they earned rep. This should be condemned. Yet there are upvotes to the post which is against help center.

@NogShine Yes here users are judgemental , and do not want to spread false ideas , or the notions which are no longer needed. let me give u a example we can't say that newtons laws are unscientific just because they are replaced by Einstein's laws. At that time newtons laws were applicable , that does not mean they are superstition.
@NogShine Ok , let it be , lets focus our attention on providing answers because that is necessary , we will have lot of time after graduation to discuss about issues/problems we have and then we will design a new framework concerning quality of posts and rules about asking /answering. ๐Ÿ˜Š

@SwiftPushkar Bad meta posts should be downvoted. It is just a matter of a vote which takes less than 2 seconds and comment if you are wiling to. Such posts will bring a bad environment among the community. It should be taken seriously.
As regards of answers, there will be an answer to one of the old unanswered question today. Guess it.

7:58 AM
@NogShine hmm , honestly no idea , did u previously talked abt. the question ?๐Ÿค”
@TheDestroyer Excellent answer about mercury , i was looking for it , but did not find anything , Nice find :-) ๐Ÿซ

@SwiftPushkar No. I haven't talked about it but Community user bumped it to the homepage couple of times.

@NogShine haha , i was wondering lately , why my questions are not getting being bumped ...๐Ÿ˜

@TheDestroyer I'm still confused. Can you check with his chat profile if there's any issue?
Continuing a discussion would usually copy all the comments over.

@BhargavRao hello , free from exams ?

@BhargavRao Swamiji doesn't come to chat.

8:05 AM
@SwiftPushkar Yup, from now on project submissions.
@NogShine Shouldn't be an issue as long as they have a chat account associated with their profile.

@BhargavRao oh , is this the last part of sem . or the course , generally project ends the course . ?

It's generally the case.
Would be more heavy than exams :p

@NogShine Swamiji is now on the post of main Acharya , and he is not suppose to be too friendly with the crowd or to mix with them . ๐Ÿ˜

@TheDestroyer Yeah, that's the weird part. Can you check if Swami Vishwananda has a chat account? (through the mod dash it's easier :p)

@TheDestroyer Yes , i missed that point .

@BhargavRao His comments were moved to chat when i moved them to chat room through mod tools. Yes, he has chat profile.

@NogShine Hinduism SE math .

@TheDestroyer haha i thought you will not catch it , but u did :-)

@SwiftPushkar Ramakrishna math sannyasis have FB, Twitter accounts. They interact with people.

@SwiftPushkar Nopes, more towards software defined networking. (NFVs are a very very new branch which is called Network Function Virtualization).

@BhargavRao OK , GRT.
@NogShine yes , but our math is different its global. So global rules apply here.

A: Who is the Kshetrapala god who lives on the Pariyatra mountains?

@KeshavSrinivasan - wht u think abt. my guess abt. Pariyatra mountain ?
And that guess is in the deleted comments now :-)
in Vedanta and Philosophy, Apr 6 '17 at 15:20, by SwiftPushkar
@KeshavSrinivasan -It does not directly say krishna being Kshetrapala of that mountain , but Shree krishna promised the mountain that he will stay over there , so just guessed from that description :)
@NogShine โฌ†๏ธ

@SwiftPushkar Oh! Why didn't you answer then?

@NogShine - It was may guess , I think there was no response from op and i thought shree krishna cant be a kshetrapala.

They were the ministers with the help of whom Dasharatha was ruling his kingdom . May be Rama also carried them forward in his rule. — SwiftPushkar 1 hour ago
Oh you mean the first five were Dashrath's ministers that continued serving Rama as well? Can you please share the references as an answer? — Dr. Vineet Aggarwal 57 mins ago
here is another guess
And not posted the answer , but now OP is asking to post so will post

It is truth that upvoting has decreased and it feels bad when we search a long timetime and not get many upvotes. But we should answer for the future users.

Q: Why is rebirth considered as a curse?

shreyas1599Why do the scriptures consider enlightenment as the state when one is not born into the mortal coil once again?

12:01 PM
.But still religious matters /scriptures /gods are part of their interest. So its not quite necessary to enlighten the community about unscientific hindu ideas , Community knows them . But unfortunately as mentioned by other users , this is not quite right place for scientific discussions. And all we are here to create a trustworthy database about Hinduism over the INTERNET. — SwiftPushkar 7 hours ago

Q: between Siva and Vishnu who is more monogamous?

S KSiva seems to have had only one wife at a given time - but he did have the dalliance with Mohini. Vishnu has one wife but in the Krishna incarnation he was far from monogamous. Some Puranaic material also relates Vishnu being married to saraswati,ganga and lakshmi. If you go to Iyengar temples...

Q: Is it wrong according to the scriptures to practice polygamy?

shreyas1599I know that it is morally wrong to practice polygamy. What do the scriptures have to say about this? I'm asking this in context of kings who had several wives. I know they had several wives in order to expand their kingdoms and maintain ties with other kings. Does the scripture permit polygamy?
