@P.Fonseca I should probably link those Twitch videos to my colleagues. "If you don't think you have enough pain in this world in the form of your own feature planning meetings, here are some of an another company!" ;)
Although subject might carry a bit of interest, I think most software developers already have an overdose of that stuff...

8:02 PM
damn every download I do of some resourcedata fails...
after a while....

@ManuelOdendahl are you doing this from a work computer that remaps your IP (or something like that). At work I can never get Entity and friends to work and Wolfram might just have some weird API firewall-ing in place.

most of the cloud stuff works, I can download the resource objects manually using obj["ContentElementLocations"], but straight download, say ResourceData[ResourceObject["CIFAR-10"], "TrainingData"]
fails

@Kuba have you ever seen FrontEnd`AddFunctionTemplateInformationToFunctions? I imagine it handles the popup function templates and keep trying to get it to work but am having some difficulties.

i wish i had a tiny bit more information than just $Failed to understand what might be going on

@ManuelOdendahl it worked for me. One way to spelunk this type of function is via ResourceData // GeneralUtilities`PrintDefinitionsLocal
Alternately you can read the source code at:
FileNameJoin@{PacletFind["DataResource"][[1]]["Location"], "Kernel",
   "ResourceData.m"} // SystemOpen
Try ResourceSystemClient`Private`getResourceInfo@ResourceObject["CIFAR-10"]["UUID"]‌

a proper little maze, that function
(manuel here)

8:40 PM
Is there any way to put a "name" or "id" anchor into an answer? I want to be able to link to specific parts of one of mine.

9:16 PM
After some poking, calling the underlying ResourceSystemClientPrivatecloudresourceDownload works just fine, it must be something with the progress bar
at least the download works
this is driving me nuts
