I was trying to get started on building a webapp, but spent almost 6 hours trying to get Vagrant running properly, with Laravel. Tried about 6 different tutorials offering step-by-step help
Someday I want to be someone highly respected in the industry, like Brian Krebs of Krebs on Security.
Very few people can get to this point, but it's my philosophy that everyone has the ability to do great things...

...I guess the biggest issue is that I'm not motivated enough to do the projects, learning, and work I really want to do.
I have to put my heart into actually following my passion, and not waste my time doing useless things.
Like the other regulars here with their dedicated servers, ZFS, containers, and other projects - and they have full-time jobs.
There is absolutely no excuse for me to be wasting time doing meaningless things when I could be working on the same sorts of projects, learning JavaScript/PowerShell/Docker/LXD/ZFS/whatever while simultaneously meeting all of my personal and professional obligations.
I need to beef up my willpower so I can stay focused and productive and get more done every day.
It makes me no money. Unless I run into the exactly right kind of interviewer, Its probably not marketable. The benefit of it is entirely intangible. Its a "nice thing"

check event logs, "System" section, for the last messages before the kernel unexpected power loss error
also check memory dumps (BlueScreenView will give you a quick list, so you can see if there was one, but if you want the actual responsible driver you'd need to windbg it)
and tbh even though it's not really marketable or part of my job desc, a lot of my fiddling has let me help colleagues with general win/linux issues (desktop and server)

@Bob Yeah, except that I was getting lots of crashes and lags with what appeared to be disk issues so I scanned and fixed disk errors and then reinstalled
(Un)fortunately, my relationship with Java is long over. It is indeed a fact that there was a time when life without her as a young teen was just so unthinkable. But she just chose to be stubborn and refused to make any significant changes to who she was as time passed on and yet each day she would alert me to a new mood swing or change in flavor and the transition would take ages and require us to start over, ughh. She made me insecure, vulnerable. Honestly, the disadvantages outweighed any positives so heavily but I was just so blinded by what everyone around me thought and said. Took me a while to realize that I deserved so much better, but when I did, I went out there and got it. And I am now in a happy and stable long-term relationship with my new partner

So I'm going to chop stuff for salad and I sharpen the knife. And of course then I slice a bit off my thumb. And it wont stop bleeding ... :/ 10 minutes later I have a dressing on my thumb - but it makes using my trackball a bit difficult ... :/
I've run servers on Linode for several years and while it's enabled me to do fun stuff like run a Linux desktop in the cloud, it hasn't really proven to be a particularly marketable skill, either.
(though I am currently doing a SmokeDetector instance on one of these servers)
@rahuldottech in that case, if you really wanted to go into this whole mining thing, you'd do it on a GPU (because CPU mining is dumb and a waste of power) and you'd go mine directly for yourself, not to pay for some ridiculous subscription
