@TetsuyaYamamoto You don't have code privileges, but I've created PR#1404 for you.
Something on the MS end is definitely busted
hmmm
@Undo check stackexchange_chat_id for them?

you can get it from the API

that sounds like effort

null
there's the issue

gottem
where does MS fetch that from?

12:04 AM
SE on authentication

Just the first time?

{
    id: 265,
    username: "Tetsuya Yamamoto",
    stackexchange_chat_id: null,
    meta_stackexchange_chat_id: null,
    stackoverflow_chat_id: 6378815,
    stack_exchange_account_id: 8507897
},

Or every time they log in

@quartata on SE authentication
that only happens once

How much money do you want to bet that their MS account predates their SE chat profile
> 2017-04-25

@ArtOfCode nice
pi day
I think I had strawberry rhubarb
@ArtOfCode you know maybe rather than storing chat IDs we could just have Smokey retrieve the network profile ID
It wouldn't need to happen that often
only when blacklisting pretty much

12:10 AM
@quartata eh, we could but it's work Smokey doesn't need to do
honestly this is enough of an edge case that I'm just gonna give myself tools to re-fetch IDs and be done with it

Yeah that's what I was going to say
We could just make it something an admin can do

dev, but yes

like invalidating the feedback cache and all that
@ArtOfCode Why dev?

@quartata because it's a dev function
It's not an administrative function, it's something a developer would need

@Catija probably caching
And possibly API trickery on top of that, but I'd blame caching first.

@Undo Probably... but if I view something in FIRE, would it count as a "view"?

Don't know
I suspect so, otherwise views from the mobile apps wouldn't count
MS placing spam flags probably doesn't count as views, though. We don't load the post three times, just send the flags with the post ID

Ah. Interesting.

@Undo Is the production vs dev staging environment only set via your Travis env variables or is there other logic that determines which environment? (maybe a branch?)

4:47 AM
@Andy It's only set by the env variables. Right now helios (production) is deployed from the Charcoal-SE/helios repo, and dev.helios is deployed from Undo1/helios
It's not ideal. Better would be to have a deploy and dev branch in the Charcoal-SE repo
Branch logic, as you say

Meh. Simple is good. I like simple.

It makes my local Git repo kinda messy, though, and prevents you from easily deploying to dev.helios
by the way @Andy, dev.helios should have a simple version of the metasmoke authorizer implemented. Give it your SmokeDetector token from MS and it should validate it on the fly, then store it in the tokens table
Not implemented is any kind of token invalidation. Metasmoke needs to send a message to Helios when a token is reset/removed.

We can blacklist the username if it's not a common one.
We can't blacklist individual users networkwide; even the 'blacklisted user' reason (on a single site) is lost when Smokey switches instances.

Additionally, we can't get the network ID without an additional API call, which we can't afford to do with our current quota
